My first trip to Singapore with an unprepared budget but a willing heart ⸻ Going back almost ten years ago… I was staring at AirAsia’s promotional ticket for Bangkok–Singapore, round trip for 1,800 baht. The hand that pressed the booking button didn’t have a lot of money, but my heart wanted to “Go out and see the world once.” And that was my first international trip. The time I was the poorest…but I got the most in my life. ⸻ 💡 4 days 3 nights travel plan (for people who have no money but have heart) ⸻ 💤 Day 1 — Arrive at midnight, the airport is cold, but keep going • ✈️ Landed at Changi at midnight • No place to stay, so sat in front of McDonald’s all night, tried to sleep, but it was too cold to sleep • Traveled into the city in the morning by MRT • Passed Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands, but they were not open yet • Waited until 10am, then walked to find a very cheap street food shop • 🏨 Stayed at: 5footway.inn Project Chinatown 2 • Leave the bag first because you can’t check in yet • Good location, very close to MRT and Chinatown • 🛕 Continue to Buddha Tooth Relic Temple • Pray for a smooth journey And make life ahead better • 🦁 Walk to Merlion Park • Stand and look at the water-spouting lions, thinking to yourself, "Even though we don't have much... we've arrived." • 🌙 In the evening, come back to eat a single-dish meal at Chinatown and then take a nap to regain your strength. ⸻ 🏛 Day 2 — All-day museum and special meal with relatives • 🎟 Visit the National Museum of Singapore • If you like history and beautiful exhibitions, don't miss it. • Inside, there are both multimedia zones and interesting antiques. • Very suitable for those who are on a budget because the entrance fee is not expensive but you get a lot. • 🍲 Lunch: A relative who works in Singapore took me to eat Bak Kut Teh at a famous restaurant. • I was touched by both the taste and the kindness that helped fill the day of those who had no budget. • 💦 Walk in line at the Fountain of Wealth • The Fountain of Wealth... The view from the Skywalk in the evening is the best. • Take some photos, collect lots of memories. ⸻ 🎢 Day 3 — A day to let go and have fun at Universal Studios Singapore • 🏰 Full-day trip to USS • Even though the budget is limited, I intend to spend a full day at the theme park. • Advantages of coming alone: I get to use the Single Rider channel, which allows me to play all kinds of rides very quickly. • It's as fun as other people, but I pay less (and don't have to wait for anyone). • 🍛 Evening, come back to eat something easy at Chinatown. • I don't have the energy to walk far, and I'm running out of money. Then head to Fort Canning Park, where the beauty is intoxicating. The architectural style of the old Jubilee Street Police Station is unique, which is perfect for taking pictures. Finally head to the Fishtail Lion Park, where the iconic Fishtail Lion statue is unforgettable. Day 2️⃣: Happy hour at Universal Studios, with all kinds of exciting rides and exciting performances, I was immersed in a fairy tale world. Then go to Sentosa, Barra Bay and enjoy the beauty of sunny beaches. Day 3️⃣: Haji Lane is full of art, with colorful walls and specialty shops that you can't put down. Then go to Chinatown to feel the rich Chinese cultural atmosphere. The architecture of Praise Square is magnificent and well worth a visit. Passing by St. Andrew's Church, although I didn't take any pictures, I can feel its majesty. Finally, we ended this wonderful trip at Changi Airport. 💬 Personal feelings: 🎤 Chinese and simple English can fully meet the needs of check-in, ordering and other communication oh, so we do not have to worry too much about language problems. 💳 Payment methods are mainly visa and mastercard, Alipay and WeChat can be used, but some places can only swipe card, so it is best to still bring a card. For example, I exchanged 100 SGD💰 alone in three days, without a card, only chose the store that can use Alipay, WeChat and cash, and finally left 12.4 SGD💰. 🚇Public transportation can go to the subway station to buy 10 Singapore dollars💰 of ez-link, I charged 20 Singapore dollars💰, eat McDonald's spent 6 Singapore dollars💰, others are taking the subway. This experiential pop-up invites visitors to relive and connect over nostalgic memories centered on toys. It features a wide array of recognizable toys spanning various eras, primarily from the 1980s to the present day. Among the exhibits are miniature worlds showcasing beloved characters, including Barbie dolls, Bearbricks, McDonald’s toys, Toy Cars, Digital Games, Tamagotchi, and many more. The National Museum of Singapore not only gave me a deep understanding of Singapore’s history and culture, but also allowed me to discover many precious cultural treasures🪙 🏛️The architectural design here is full of historical traces, and the magnificent halls and well-designed exhibition halls display colorful exhibits. I followed the guided tour through the various exhibition areas, and through cultural relics, artworks and multimedia displays, I learned about Singapore's development from ancient times to modern times. What impressed me most was the area that showcased Singapore’s diverse culture. 🌍The traditional costumes, cultural arts and lifestyles of various ethnic groups are displayed here, which gave me a deeper understanding of the charm of this diverse country. I was also fortunate enough to attend some cultural performances and workshops, and experienced first-hand the uniqueness of different cultures, which was an unforgettable experience for me. In addition to the exhibition areas, the National Museum also offers a range of interactive displays and educational activities. 🎭I took a lively tour and learned more about Singapore's history and culture. I also participated in some craft workshops and learned how to make traditional crafts. The museum is full of vitality and learning atmosphere, which made me fall in love with the journey of cultural exploration. The bright beautiful colours bring us to the past of the fort canning park where we get close to the animals there. For that moment, I really feel like I am bad to the past and living in the fairy dream land. It is really a very worthy place to visit. The glass rotunda is located at the national museum. The opening hours are until 6pm in the evening.

The set up is absolutely amazing, beautiful, detail and creating a real atmosphere and history about Singapore. The display divide into four chapter of history, start from Singapura era 1299 to 1818,/Colony era 1819- 1941, Syonan to 1942 - 1946, and Singapore 1945 to present. Free admission for Singaporean and permanent resident, daily from 10.am to 7pm.

#mysgmemories My hubby and I walked from Armenian Street towards the national museum of Singapore. We went during the evening time and that's when the show starts. We watched the story of Sang nila utama and how Singapore was founded during the days. We stood there for about half an hour to watch the show. The place was crowded on the weekends. It is also a great place to take some insta-worthy pictures to put onto my Instagram account. Next year my hubby and I will come back again to see the night festival at the national museum of Singapore.

#mysgmemories My favourite thing at Night Festival that one will not missed would be the projections at National Museum of Singapore since its only something that doesn’t happen everyday.

To follow the 2023’s themed which is Singapore, the Great Port City, this year’s projection is a story line that happens every 15 mins. Versus previous years where it is about every 5 mins our wait. The story talks about Sang Nila Utama sacrificing his crown and finally how he found Singapore after a thunderstorm.

Near by is an installation A Stone’s throw away which is in relation to the Singapore stone that was blew up. 

Opposite the museum is where the food and beverage area are, however we chose not to enter this year to avoid the bag check.
