#winhkflight 📍National Gallery Singapore Stopped by at National Gallery Singapore as we were passing by that area. It is located close to the city centre, Merlion Park is just a stone’s away and you get the view of Marina Bay Sands from the national gallery as well. The building is beautiful and the whole place is very artsy! They have both permanent and limited time only exhibitions, which is lovely. Did not have the time to explore the whole gallery, as they have 6 floors, we just stopped by and take a few photos. The entire place is huge, very instagrammable and quiet, could easily spend 3-4 hours here. The ticket is sgd 20 for tourists but it is free for locals and permanent residents. Would love to revisit this place in the future! I wish to travel to Hong Kong for the food!

Embark on a journey of discovery through Southeast Asian art, starting from the mid-19th century. "Between Declarations and Dreams" is a new exhibition featuring over 300 works, all housed within the National Gallery Singapore's Supreme Court building. The exhibition is presented chronologically and centers around 4 themes: Authority and Anxiety, Imagining Country and Self, Manifesting the Nation, and Re:Defining Art. It places a lens on the rich history and cultural diversity of the Southeast Asian region. The exhibition is open now and will run until Dec 31.

Light to Night Festival is an annual event in Singapore that showcases art and exhibitions from varied disciplines of art including interactive programs and installations. A favorite showcase that I always look forward to is the light projections or illuminations scattered across the civic district. Since the festival is organised by the National Gallery Singapore, the gallery usually offers free entry on weekends with extended opening hours. We went on a Wednesday night to avoid the weekend crowd. Our first agenda was to sit at the Padang and watch the illumination on the National Gallery itself. We spent a bit of time here since we didn't get to watch the start. Lots of people also bring their mats to chill around here. Every time I watch this, I get reminded of how I would want to have this festival back in my home country also. We then went to the “bubbles” installation and took way too many photos there. The installation worked well with Marina Bay Sands and National Gallery as its backdrops in photos. Another projection we always enjoy is at the Victoria Building since the façade shape is different than usual because of the tower in the middle. This is one of the festivals I'm always looking forward. Expect me to be there again next year. When going there though, consider going on weekdays as there’s fewer people going around.
