| Explore all the hidden gems in two days.
🚗Transportation Guide
It is very convenient to travel from Tokyo. You can take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen and arrive at Nasushiobara Station in about 70 minutes. After arriving, take the local tram, bus or taxi to various attractions. Tuk-tuks are also available in the city, making travel convenient and fun!
Day 1: Hot springs and natural adventures
🌅Morning: After arriving at Nasushiobara Station, head straight to Onuma Garden. The forest trails here are like scenes from a Ghibli movie. Take a stroll and feel the tranquility of nature. When you reach the end, you will see a vast lake. The sun shines on the lake, making it sparkle. You can also observe cute "forest frogs" and "little red dragonflies".
🍱Noon: Taste the specialty food Nasu Kuroge Wagyu, we recommend the steak house Juraku Main Store, the signature "Nasu Wagyu Dice Steak", beautifully marbled, the meat is soft and melts in your mouth, paired with ice-cold Nasu beer, super satisfying.
♨️Afternoon: Go to Shiobara Hot Spring Village and enjoy the "Shiobara Eleven Hot Springs". The springs have various qualities and benefits, and there is also Yuburi, Japan's largest foot bath facility. After soaking in the hot springs, go to the nearby hot spring shrine to pray and experience the unique local hot spring culture.
🏡At night: Check into a hot spring hotel, relax in the warm hot spring water, and fall asleep to the sound of insects outside the window.
Day 2: Exploring history and legends
🌄Morning: Visit the Killing Stone where the legend of the nine-tailed fox is told. The place is full of jagged rocks and the smell of sulfur is everywhere, as if you have traveled back to the mysterious ancient times. By using the AR APP on your mobile phone, you can also make the illustrated nine-tailed fox appear in front of the camera, which is super interesting.
🥪At noon: Try the local soba noodles. We recommend "Banmai-ya", a 100% soba specialty store. The noodles are chewy and fragrant. Paired with cucumber and fruit pudding, it is refreshing and relieves greasiness.
🗼Afternoon: Came to the Nasu Music Box Museum, where there are many exquisite music boxes. When the two huge music boxes sounded, it was like an orchestra playing. You can also experience making a handmade music box and take away a unique souvenir.
📸Afterwards, head to Kinomata Valley to enjoy the clear blue water and the beautiful valley around it. The scenery of the forest along the coast varies in each season, and it is great for taking photos.
🌙In the evening: stroll around Nasushiobara Station and buy some souvenirs to end the wonderful journey.
