Exceptional museum with many lovely historic items relating to Nara and to Buddhism. There are many statues, as well as ceramics and manuscripts. It's beautifully arranged, and well worth seeing in Nara-and of course Nara with its many sites is worth a visit!

Nara National Museum is a museum that mainly exhibits Buddhist works of art. Its main structure is divided into the main hall (main exhibition hall), the affiliated hall of the museum, the East New Hall, the West New Hall and the underground cloister. Among them, the main building was built on the basis of the Akasaka Imperial Palace designed by the court architect Katayamayama in 1894 (Meiji 27). In addition to the general works of art on display, the museum also often hosts precious items for various temples in Nara Prefecture. Every autumn, the "Zhengcang Academy Exhibition" will be held regularly. In 1980, the Buddhist Art Information Research Center was newly built in the museum, which is responsible for the creation, collection, collation and preservation of Buddhist art-related materials.
