#100 Ways to Travel
Nanzenji Temple ~ "A beautiful corner of the dry landscape garden intertwined with the fiery red maple leaves; enlightenment of the three true fruits of Buddhism under the five-santlow tree in the tower gate"
My favorite in the Kansai region is Kyoto. In addition to its rich historical heritage, it also has a strong religious atmosphere. It is a good place to cultivate your temperament during travel ~ Today I will introduce to you this city with strong religious significance. temple!
📖History: It was built in the Kamakura period and was rebuilt from the palace of Emperor Kameyama. The most famous one is the "Sanmon", also known as the "World Dragon Gate". It was built in 1628 to commemorate the heroes who died in the "Battle of Osaka Summer" They use the door pillars to divide it into four directions. The scenery seen from each direction is different, and it will add a bit of elegance as the seasons change! The famous kabuki master "Ishikawa Goemon" called the scenery "a superb view, it really is a superb view", and he became famous ever since! ! And now it has become the head temple of the "Rinzai Sect"~~
✨Must visit attractions:
"Three Gates":
Also known as "Shanmen", it is an important cultural property of Japan and one of the "Three Gates of Japan", also known as "Dragon Gate of the World".
The "three gates" mentioned in it refer to the "empty gate", "no phase gate" and "wuzuo gate" of Buddhism. They are the three gates that must be passed through for Buddhist practice! !
There are standing statues of Sakyamuni and Sixteen Arhats inside. You can visit inside and overlook Nanzen Temple in the distance! !
"Red Brick Arch Waterway Pavilion":
Built in 1888, it is made of red bricks and granite, with a total length of 93.2 meters and a height of 9 meters. The purpose of its arch is to dredge the waterway of "Lake Biwa". What is clever is that the design of this arch perfectly matches the temple. Combined together, it has become a popular check-in attraction and an excellent place to "appreciate maple leaves"~

It is said that the origin of the "Grand Abbot" came from the move of the old imperial palace's imperial palace here in 1611 during the Taisho period. You can enjoy the works of the famous painter group "Kano School" here, so don't miss it!

Located in front of the "Grand Abbot" is the "Dry Landscape Garden" style landscaping, in which the stones are arranged in the shape of a "tiger crossing the river", which is truly unique~
