Weekend Getaway 21 | Nanping Serenity Town - A Cool Retreat for Summer Heat!
Shenzhen's summer is not only hot but also humid, and every weekend I find myself wondering where to go for some cool relief? I recently discovered a hidden gem: Nanping Serenity Town's Fengxi Water Play Area, where you can have fun all day long❤️
Nanping Town is located in Conghua, and it takes over two hours to get there from Shenzhen. The entire scenic area is built along the river, with pedestrian trails on both sides. Along the way, you see a lot of people swimming, soaking their feet, and having water fights, with kids playing so intently they forget themselves. There are also unique activities like underwater mahjong and barbecue, which are incredibly fun.
At the very top, there's a waterfall, which is not very crowded and can be considered a hidden gem. Serenity Town is truly a treasure for beating the heat, where you can spend the whole day for free🆓. I highly recommend it👍

Ancient towns and villages in Guangzhou worth visiting! Capture a corner of the city's culture
April is a special time, and also a season filled with rain. If you come to Guangzhou for a trip and don't want to be in a crowded place, but just want to stroll around leisurely and quietly! Then why not take a trip to Nanping, a serene town in Conghua!
Here you can deeply breathe in oxygen, wade in the stream, and simply hike along the mountain side! The town's stream runs through the entire town, and with every step you take, you can see longan and lychee trees planted along the road.
Walking along the high ground, the streamside has also been transformed into a greenway that is very suitable for walking. This place is very suitable for summer retreats, where adults can find a long-lost quietness, and children can find safe fun!
If you come during June to July, you can eat and buy lychees here as you please, and it's cheaper than any market!
The town has parking available, and the parking fee is very reasonable, so you don't have to worry about expensive parking fees!
There are also a few snack bars and restaurants by the stream, and when you're tired of walking, you can try the local farmhouse delights here!
Of course, the best thing is to sit comfortably by the stream, with your feet soaked in the water, eating a bowl of refreshing tofu pudding!

Nanping Tranquil Town in Conghua, Guangzhou
Over the years, I have traveled almost every landscape in Conghua, but I have never been to this small town.
The country road twists and turns, and there is a small pavilion called Youhuangli where the car is parked. On the left is the green paddy field, on the right are thousands of tall bamboos, and below is a stream winding past, creating a serene and peaceful environment. Walk a few hundred meters along the bamboo creek path, passing by many old lychee trees, with small brick and stone scenes covered in deep moss, and a helicopter pad hidden among the tall grass on the left. After crossing the Fengxi channel, you reach Shaotang Pavilion, where one bridge arches like the moon and another is straight, this place is where the Twin Bridges meet.
Then drive from Tianhe Nanping Road to Mingjian Bridge, where the mountain stream shines with sunlight flowing downstream, and here, chickens are the leisurely masters. Yankou community is quiet at this moment, and as you follow the path up the mountain, the forest is dark green, the rocks are huge and round, the distant mountains undulate, and the sunlight peeks through the clouds. At the foot of the mountain is the Tranquil Pavilion.
Passing by a slightly dilapidated small courtyard built of red bricks, inscribed with 'Dami Temple'.
Following Fengxi all the way north, passing through Liuwu and Zhuwu, next to Lixiang Pavilion is Nanping Inn, arguably the most beautiful inn in the area, with Hakka architecture integrated into the tranquil theme. Behind it, in the lychee forest, there are wooden houses and bird nests, each with its own characteristics. Nanping Cultural Square uses bamboo weaving as a medium, its soft shapes subtly blending into the mountains behind, serene and far-reaching.
⛰️Location: Nanping Village, Conghua Hot Springs Town
🚗Transportation: Self-driving (winding country roads, convenient and free parking)
👣Tour: Nanping Tranquil Town is a quiet place with high mountains, flowing springs, lush bamboo forests, and peculiar rocks and mountain streams, surrounded by Phoenix Mountain and meandering Fengxi water. Modern design blends with the natural landscape.
🧸It is recommended to park your car at the entrance of Nanping Tranquil Town, where the phoenix spreads its wings, and walk south from Youhuangli along the bamboo creek greenway to Twin Bridges, then take the main road back to get the car, and drive to Mingjian Bridge. Park the car at Liuwu community, and walk along the stream to Yankou community, where you can enjoy the scenery and climb the mountain.
Descending past the Tranquil Pavilion and turning right, you can reach Qingfeng Xiaozhu Starry Sky Homestay, and further ahead you can reach Hongfeng Park and Nanping Mountain Residence.
On the return trip, follow Fengxi north to Nanping Inn, where you will find Nanping Cultural Square and Lixia Book House. Past Dawo community, there are Gengdu Pavilion and Jinshi Pavilion, and follow Fengxi Road back to the grand entrance of the phoenix spreading its wings.
🥗Mountain residences offer local dishes such as lychee mushrooms, free-range chicken, green-headed ducks, and slimming fish.
