Located at the north of Vientiane, Vang Vieng is a small town which one of the must visit destination in Laos. If you happened to visit Vang Vieng, you should probably go to its iconic spot which called Nam Xay Viewpoint. The trip to Vang Vieng from Vientiane city will take about two hours drive, so it will not wasting your travel time. As the Nam Xay Viewpoint is the iconic destination of Laos and also you need to do hiking to get to the very top, I highly suggest you to go during afternoon time starting from 3PM so you will not get hot burning your body. Also you will get the best view ever during sunset time! During this time, you will also witnessing the air balloon up in the air to complete your excitement in this place. There are two options to go to Vang Vieng: 1. You may take fast train from Vientiane to Vang Vieng. But it is quite effort on how to get train ticket as the ticket will always almost sold out if you book it on the D-Day. If I may check, there is an online reservation on the application to secure your train ticket. Or you may ask local people or the hotel receptionist to assist you for the booking. 2. Another option is by a mini van. You may also ask local people or the hotel receptionist to assist you for booking the mini van ticket. Thais is the easiest way to secure your seat. You will only need to pay the entrance ticket for 10.000 Kip (less than $1) which is quite cheap! It’s quite a climb to get to the view point, but you won’t regret the effort that you put in. You’ll have a full 360 view of the phenomenal area around the mountain you’re standing on. It is really impressive to look at the valleys and the other mountain ranges behind. The path itself is rocky and requires proper footwear, because you can hurt yourself easily. Some parts aren’t really a path so you’ll need your hands a bit to climb. It takes around 25 minutes to get up if you take your time. 1. Muddy. Chaotic. Beautiful!

Wow. Started off relatively easy, then got a littler harder as the mud got thicker. Climbing using hands and feet by the end but nothing too extreme! Completely worth it for the view at the top though! 😍 coming down was slippery but a good laugh. Total thing takes about 45 minutes up and down.
