Let’s keep floating
There are a variety of ways to explore the beautiful Nam Ou River that runs through the heart of Nong Khiaw when you visit. You can do some boating, kayaking or even hiking on the trails along the river. But, one of the most distinctive is to join up for bamboo rafting, which involves sitting atop a raft made of bamboo that has been tied together. Then you'll get to float down the river, with unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside thanks to the open sides of the rafts.

Nam Ou river laos 🇱🇦
#traveldiaries
The Nam Ou is one of the most important rivers of Laos. It runs 448 km from Phongsaly Province to Luang Prabang Province. The river rises in Muang Ou Nua near the Lao-Chinese border, and traverses the northern Laos mountains and gorges until meeting the Mekong River in Ban Pak Ou of Laos 🇱🇦.
You can swim on the Nam Ou either take a refreshing bath or follow the river current with your life jacket. It is up to you! But I think the water is not clear enough to make a good shower.
Access to safe water in Laos is a challenge for the majority of the country's population of 7.4 million people. According to UN and UNICEF data, 82% of households in Laos lack access to a safely managed water supply and 39% lack safe sanitation.
