I was told by many people that this is a MUST go place when you’re at Seoul. They are well known for their only 4 items on the menu, we have ordered 3 out of 4 from the menu. The cold noodles was really nice and tasty, it’s refreshing as well! It was my first time trying cold noodles and I love it! Love they put the shedded cucumber that makes it more refreshing and less spicy. They serve free flow kimchi here as well, this is by far the most spicy kimchi I ever had!! But it’s so yummy. Best to eat it with the hot bowl of noodles soup was is really tasty, perfect for the cold weather in Seoul! The dumplings here taste abit like Xiao Long bao, very juicy and a lot of ingredients! Totally worth the price!

The menu is lean and well, we ordered whatever that's available then. 1. Dumpling - came in thin translucent skin and almost perfect folds filled with fresh pork and vegetables. Compared to the typical dumplings, there wasn’t much porky aftertaste. 2. Bibimguksu - cold wheat noodles tossed in a spicy red pepper paste sauce - this bowl of noodle was really tasty. The sauce was really well prepared with abundant amounts of hot pepper and garlic. 3. Kalguksu - The noodle’s texture was exceptionally smooth, like a much softer form of udon. Except long lines if you come during peak meal times but it's worth the wait. Once inside grab a seat and the server will come take your order. You then pay first and shortly after your order will arrive. Service is extremely rapid. The Mandus are large, juicy and the wrap is nice and thin. It goes very well with the vinegar provided. The accompanying kimchi is also delicious; a bit more garlicy and spicier than usual, but very unique and flavorful. Myeongdong KYOJA 명동교자 is a noodle restaurant in Seoul that became super famous after it was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. It is a staple food right here in Korea, is a little similar yet different from Chinese dumpling. The are only 4 dishes on the menu are: Kalguksu noodle soup (Knife-cut noodles in chicken broth) Bibimguksu spicy noodles Mandu dumplings Kongguksu noodles in cold soybean soup (Only available in Summer) The service was extremely efficient: our soup noodle and pork dumplings arrived very shortly after our order. And the shop usually is very crowded so definitely not someone you can chill and eat slowly... but rather fast and furious ~(pai lee pai lee korean style- fast). The piping hot noodle soup comes with minced meat and dumplings.It was delicious- despite having a very plain looking light broth. It was FULL of flavour in this soup , you could also taste the smokiness of the meat right here. The kalkusu(hand-cut noodles) were smooth and goes well into your mouth. The robust soup flavor almost tricked me into thinking it was a pork broth! The steamed dumplings were rather large and filled with juicy meat. The thin skin was almost translucent- it's a bit like an oversized Xiao Long Bao- but I think the most memorable thing about them was the amount of meat. Apparently, all the pork is from a female pig (and mixed with leeks, veggies, and sesame oil.) Best eaten with their signature garlic-laden kimchi! Note: the noodles come with dumplings in the soup, so you don't need to order the dumplings. Portion is also quite big for one bowl. Do take note of that if you are going solo on this! They now have two outlets in myeongdong so see which outlet has the shorter Q and they are pretty close to each other from the main outlet. Both is as good so dont worry about which is better! This was the best restaurant food we had in seoul. I was blown away by the Knife Cut Soup Noodles. Rich Soup Stock, chewy texture and fresh ingredients. Such simple dishes turned into masterpieces. Myeongdong Dumplings opened in 1966 and has a profound history. Since 1966, it still retains its original flavor. The dumplings are very attractive in appearance. Each dumpling is carefully wrapped and looks similar to Chinese dumplings. The shape of each dumpling is very uniform, showing the chefs' superb skills and carefulness. Myeongdong dumplings have rich fillings and excellent taste. The meat filling is tender and juicy, and paired with just the right amount of sauce, it has a rich flavor without being too greasy. In addition to dumplings, the kimchi provided by the store is also very delicious. If you are worried that you are not full enough, you can also order a bowl of knife-cut noodles. The only pull factor for me to visit Myeongdong will be this famous Myeongdong kyoja which is a family run restaurant and recommended in the Michelin guide. Their menu is very simple, only a few items to choose from and there are so many tables available so the queue move very fast. If you are alone, you can order their noodles and dumplings. It is a large portion and it is fixed, you cannot ask for a smaller serving. Their home made kimchi is free flow which means you can keep asking for refills.
