2025 Regensdorf Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in June)

There are two villages with the same name. I write about the one that belongs to Regensdorf. There is not so much exciting to talk about but it is still worth mentioning. It used to be a farmers’village and there are still some century old traditional farm houses (photo 2 & 3). Getting There - by car or bus 485 and 456 from Regensdorf railway station Attractions - 1. Old town house which was built in 1893 and nowadays can be rented for your private party. 2. hiking: get off bus 485 at Adlikon-Paechterried station walk backwards and turn right to walk along the tiny Furtbach creek (photo 8 & 6) until you reach the street. Have a drink or snack at the Furtbaechli Restaurant (photo 9) or shop some groceries at the supermarket. From there take bus 456 back or walk on the other side of the creek, cross the bridge and walk along the creek (photo 7) and the back to the initial bus stop. Walking time 20 to 30 minutes. There are other nice hikes on the hill. Hotels - Thessoni next to Regensdorf railway station Food & Restaurants - 1. Furtbaechli with an outdoor terrace is a high quality restaurant 2. Palazzetto (Italian food) Shopping - Warenmarkt outlet shop where you find things that other places don’t have! #passionpassport

Today is a rainy day and the sky is grey. So what to do? I decided to go to this nearby mall. It is a ten minutes ride by bicycle or car. The parking lot is free for one hour. In the mall there are two big quality supermarkets with a fresh meat and cheese section and a discounter. There is also a post office and a bank, two pharmacies and a drugstore and several clothing and shoe stores and even a pet shop and parfumerie. Getting There - by car, bicycle or S6 train to Regensdorf station and then bus 485,491 Attractions - Fitness park - gym, spa, sauna and swimming pool Hotels - Adjacent to the mall is Movenpick hotel (photo 7) Food & Restaurants - 1. Cafe Gottlieben which is my favourite because it so cute (photo 2) and the staff is extremely friendly and their chocolate cookies delicious (photo 8) 2. Hangcheng Chinese restaurant (photo 3) 3. Esspunkt with an international, Thai self service restaurant and a coffee bar (photo 4&5) Shopping - There is a shop for all your needs but if you like decoration for your house I recommend Depot #foodie #cafe

There are many kinds of food. Most popular are Italian, Chinese, French and of course Thai food which is very popular in Switzerland. It is not spicy 🌶 but they have jars with chili to add! The prices are reasonable and the choice is quite good👍 . I went for a yellow Thai chicken curry with Jasmin rice (photo 2)which was yummy and my wife’s choice was duck breast with vegetables and noodles (photo 3) which she also liked😋. Everything is prepared freshly in the wok and ready in a few minutes. There are about 10 restaurants and takeaways in the Zürich area. We went to the one in Regensdorf but there are others in Zürich downtown mostly close to railway stations How to get there: by S6 to Regensdorf station then by bus 485 or 491. #foodie

There are many kind of restaurants in this world! Even it is self service the food is of extremely high quality! There are different kind of buffets: salad (photo 2), sandwiches, salted and sweet pies, meat, pasta and vegetables (photo 3) and so on. The variety is wide. my Chinese wife had pork belly 五花肉, Brussels sprouts孢子甘蓝 and leek (photo 5). I went for thuna and mixed green salad with grilled vegetables and mushrooms (photo 6). All delicious 🤤. There is also a kids corner (photo 7) where the youngsters can play! Migros has 1106 supermarkets in Switzerland 235 restaurants. The founder Gottlieb Duttweiler is a kind of national hero and beloved by the whole nation. He did not sell alcohol nor tobacco and until now it is like that👍👍. Who is the owner of this huge 99000 employees’ company? The people of Switzerland! You and me and anybody who wants to buy a share for only CHF 10 with no face value! This is unique in the world 🌎 #foodie

It is is still a farmers village that belongs now to Regensdorf at the outskirts of Zürich. There are no famous sights but the scenery is beautiful and there are still several animals kept like cows🐮,sheep🐑, chicken 🐔 (photo 6-8)and horses! Most farmers have their little shops where they sell seasonal fresh food they grow (photo 12) or you can cut flowers and put the money into a little box (photo 11&12) The surroundings are great for sports like hiking, cycling 🚴‍♀️, swimming, jogging or inline skating (photo 13-16) Getting There - by train S6 23min from Zürich main station, by bus 485. 451, 456 Attractions - 1. Since living in downtown Zurich has become more and more expensive I considered to live in a small place outside the city and I am happy! I live in the countryside restaurant where there are still farmers with cows! It is only 20 minutes either by car or public transport to Zurich main station or the airport! There is also a shopping mall which covers all daily needs and beyond! There is also a public library! For sports there many opportunities like some gyms, swimming in the nearby lake, hiking, in-line skating or cycling Getting There - by S6 train or bus 485 from Zurich Attractions - 1. This lake is my very favourite in all over the world because it is close to my home (only 12 minutes by bicycle which is by far the best way to go there. In Summer there is a free swimming area. Where else in the world you would get this? I have been coming here since my youth. Every season there is just beautiful even in winter with snow or ice. Officially open from 9 to 21:00 but actually it is open 24/7 What about a full moon evening? I come here almost every day in summer in the early morning but avoid weekends since it is overcrowded.
