Cultural life in the fall, Museum Mountain
Notes for visiting the Museum Mountain, personal opinion!
"You see as much as you know." Since this building was built under the intention of architect "Tadao Ando", rather than just going to see it, listen to the explanation of its intention and purpose!
I listened to the architectural explanation at 11:00, but if you take the 9:30 city bus from Wonju Intercity Bus Terminal, you will arrive at the museum at around 10:05-10, and you can schedule a quick tour of the outdoor sculpture park + flower garden (a bit ㅠ) and gather at the cafe/art shop right next to the welcome booth (ticketing).
The James Turrell Museum is a group tour where you enter with staff and are guided through the exhibition and route.
In particular, James Turrell's works use lighting, so it is dark, and you have to go down stairs and walk through almost dark hallways, so it is different from regular viewing! (Of course, exhibitions that are not like that are also included)
Highly recommended Meditation Museum. Even if you look at the main building, it's quite exhausting. For a short healing and rest, this is the place.
+ The meditation hall building itself is a microcosm and condensation of Ando Tata's philosophy, so it's a shame not to see that space!
After ticketing at the main building, the only resting space where you can eat is the cafe terrace in the main building, and the menu is just sandwiches, cakes, and ice cream. The price of the cafeteria is comparable to that of a hotel, but the quality is so-so- (even if you get a 10% discount coupon when ticketing, it's still a bit much)
However, it's a shame to miss out on a cup of coffee while enjoying the view and leisurely time sitting on the outdoor seats just because it's expensive.
If you're before ticketing or after viewing, the cafe and art shop connected to the welcome center is a reasonably priced place to eat, so if you need something to eat, it's better to go here (in terms of cost-effectiveness)
