Suzhou Wu Culture Museum丨Wuzhong Museum is located in the Tantai Lake Scenic Area of Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, on the south side of the Grand Canal, a world cultural heritage site, and the Baodai Bridge, a national protected unit. It has a total construction area of 18,600 square meters, and the museum area covers an area of 8,500 square meters. The main building has three floors above ground and one floor underground. The museum opened on June 28, 2020 and officially opened to the public on July 1. The museum seems to be composed of multiple spaces, but in fact it is connected as one. Looking down from the sky, it looks like a capital "Wu", which fits the theme of Wu culture. The hard appearance of reinforced concrete and the simple and bright rhythmic tonality present a simple "purity" to the audience. In the minimalist gray-toned space, the tension generated by the building itself is all in a small space. In the clear morning and evening, the sunlight shining through the skylight on the floor and walls of the museum becomes a dancing elf. When the night is seductive and the lights are gentle, the huge two-story glass curtain wall is like a sparkling diamond inlaid in a shallow pool. From the coffee bar observation deck on the second floor, you can overlook the Baodai Bridge, take a museum tour accompanied by the aroma of coffee, walk along the huge gray and white stairs, and take a photo with the museum. It is pleasant and beautiful. The north gate of the museum is the entrance for visitors, and the east gate is the exit for visitors. The first floor is mainly used for temporary exhibitions, education and public services. The two temporary exhibition halls focus on the Wu culture, Jiangnan culture and other domestic and foreign boutique exhibitions; the second floor is set up for regular exhibitions. At present, the museum has more than 6,800 sets of cultural relics and more than 10,000 pieces, mainly archaeological relics unearthed in the original Wu County. The regular exhibition is divided into two parts: "Archaeological Exploration of Wuzhong" and "Fengya Song Wuzhong". Among them, "Fengya Song Wuzhong" includes three parallel exhibitions of "Wu Feng", "Wu Ya" and "Wu Song". "Archaeological Exploration of Wuzhong" provides an academic interpretation of the origin and Boxing of Wu culture from the perspective of archaeology, while "Fengya Song Wuzhong" fully displays Wu culture from the perspectives of Wu's boutique cultural relics, Wu's local specialties and the inheritance and protection of Wu culture. In addition, the museum has public activity spaces such as an education center, academic lecture hall, multi-functional hall, cultural and creative store, and cafe. The overall configuration is inclined towards the education and public service functions required by modern museums. The exhibition hall uses a variety of multimedia display methods and interactive devices, so that visitors of different ages can find fun in visiting the museum. Positioned as a "cultural complex", Wuzhong Museum is not only a space for collecting cultural relics and displaying cultural and artistic exhibitions, but also a comprehensive public learning and communication space that combines exhibitions, courses and lectures, amusement performances, leisure and entertainment, integrating exhibitions, education, cultural experience, and cultural consumption.
