This Sunday is an unusual day to us, we began with a special seafood breakfast and followed by nice coffee, milk and custard bread toast then beautiful nice Korean dinner and nice coffee to closed up the day! We even saw the beautiful Mt. Kinabalu for the start of the day! To be able to stand atop the summit of Mount Kinabalu, was really a rewarding, bittersweet moment for me. Trekking up over 8.5km up to the top, from Timpohon Gate at an altitude of 1,866m to the summit at 4095.2m, was a test of my patience, perseverance, mental and physical strength. Through the forests, rocky paths, tall steps, the thought of giving up and the fear of the body giving way was always there, but I am glad I managed to persist till the end. The summit push started at 2:20am at Panalaban. We took about 3h 30m to reach the summit of Mount Kinabalu, just in time for the sunrise at 5:58am. We were treated to the sun peeking up over the horizon, over the sea of cloud. As the sky brightened up and lighted up the top of Mt Kinabalu, we saw the various peaks (St John's Peak, Low's Peak, Alexandra Peak etc.) that jutted out from the mountain face. Truly a magnificient sight to behold. #malaysiatrip

#thingstodo 2 day 1 night Mt Kinabalu climb. Summit at 4096 m. A tremendous enduring experience. Stay a night at 6 KM mark and climbed again for another 2.8 km to the peak at 2.30am the next morning. This is to catch the sunrise. we were lucky that morning's weather was totally clear and the sunrise was amazing. Mt Kinabalu is the highest mountain in South East Asia. It is located in the East Malaysia state of Sabah, managed by Sabah Parks. Travel to the city of Kota Kinabalu and book with the local travel agents. You can also pre book online. Climbing uphill was OK but coming downhill the next day will be more tiring as you have used up your energy. This climb is highly recommended.
