Destructive Remnants of Merapi Volcano 🌋
Visiting Museum Omahku Memoriku at Mount Merapi provided me with a peek into the lives of locals during the 2010 Merapi Volcanic Eruption. It revealed the true destructive nature and devastating impact that Mt Merapi can cause when it erupts.
The museum is hosted in a typical Javanese house that had been damaged by the 2010 eruption. Immediately, you can see that only about 60% of the house survived the devastation.
The exhibits in the museum blended personal artifacts, photographs, and personal narratives, painting a vivid picture of both the tragedy of those living in the shadow of Mount Merapi. I found the half melted clock that stopped at 12:30,m and fused with volcanic ash, the most iconic. It showed the exact time where disaster struck the occupants of the house.

Mount Merapi Lava Tour@Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Location - North of Yogyakarta in Central Java, Indonesia.
Getting There - Sign up for any Jeep Merapi Lava tour in Yogyakarta would be the easiest way without any need to worry about the round trip transportation and the time of departure; all will be included and explained in the package.😎
Attractions - This tour is specially made for us to enjoy the impressive sunrise view on one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. Besides, trying this lava tour will exposed you to the damages, lava streams and big stones after the major eruption in 2010. Might as well visit the Merapi Museum that displays the leftovers found after the eruption as a remembrance of the moment especially the clock that stopped the time when the eruption came by.
Happy travel peeps!🤗

MERAPI NATIONAL PARK
Mount Merapi National Park – There are not many national parks in Indonesia, which have relatively well-known kuncen or caretakers like Mount Merapi National Park. Mbah Maridjan's name was once known by various circles for being involved in advertising programs. The positive effect is that Mount Merapi National Park has succeeded in being better known by the Indonesian people and has become a tourist destination for both families and educational institutions. Being part of two regencies, namely Central Java and Yogyakarta, making Mount Merapi National Park an irreplaceable resource for the villages that surround it, despite the relatively frequent cycle of explosions. Mount Merapi National Park is located in two districts, Central Java and Yogyakarta. The two regencies which incidentally are closely related to social values and are famous for the hospitality of the local residents make the existence of kuncen important not only for the sustainability of the Mount Merapi National Park, but also as a connector for cultural values with scientific values. The journey of Mount Merapi to become a national park is relatively long because Mount Merapi has been recognized even before Indonesia's independence. At first, Indonesia, which at that time was still colonized by the Dutch, made Mount Merapi a protected forest, this status lasted for quite a long time from 1931 to 1975. Until it officially became Mount Merapi National Park, a total of three stages have been passed by Mount Merapi and changes from start to finish. protected forest to nature reserves. In 2004, the status of a national park was finally achieved through the Decree of the Minister of Forestry 134/Menhut-II/2004 dated May 4, 2004. The status that changed from a protected forest or nature reserve to a national park did not have too big an impact on the surrounding community, apart from of course the economic value. This is because Mount Merapi National Park has always been a source of air and a support for the life system for various districts and even cities that surround it, besides Yogyakarta, there are Sleman, Boyolali, Klaten to Magelang.

The Sacred Volcano Merapi
Did the overnight climb up to the top of Mount Merapi. I say its definitely an experience. The guides are helpful, going at a pace that the group was comfortable with, even taking breaks when we had too.
The view at the top was great - just remember it's actually COLD up there with all the wind, have jacket so you'll be able to enjoy the view without freezing.
Not an easy climb either! I thought to myself many times about calling it quits, but its worth it when (if) you make it to the top. If not, its an adventure in itself.
The mountain, being an important part of sacred javanese symbolism, emphasized by the eerie damage of the eruption, offers a mystical atmosphere yet breathtaking view.

Mt. Merapi Sunrise
Waking up at 3:30 am in Yogyakarta, Central Java, to catch the sunrise at the worlds 4th most active volcano Mt. Merapi.
You get there by hiring a local Jeep, or walking. We hired a Jeep for 600.000 IDR, and the driver also functioned as a tour guide, which was nice. He took us to three different spots around the volcano.
Beautiful nature around the mountain, amazing views and magical sunrise. The huge lava river is from an eruption in 2010, and spands 17 kms!!
There is also a little museum, which is pretty nice and informing, showing the devastating effects of the volcanic eruptions of Merapi.

Mount Merapi
#familytrips2024
Our family expedition to Mount Merapi was an exhilarating adventure into the heart of Indonesia's volcanic landscape, where rugged terrain and breathtaking views awaited our exploration. As we ascended the slopes of this majestic volcano, we were captivated by the raw beauty of the surrounding wilderness and the awe-inspiring power of nature. Traversing ancient lava fields and lush forests, we marveled at the resilience of life thriving amidst the volcanic landscape. Standing atop the crater rim, we were rewarded with panoramic vistas of Java's lush countryside and distant horizons, a testament to the sheer magnificence of Mount Merapi.
Looking ahead, our family's next dream destination is the majestic landscapes of Patagonia, Argentina. We envision trekking through pristine wilderness, witnessing towering glaciers, and encountering diverse wildlife in one of the world's last remaining wilderness areas. Patagonia promises a journey of exploration and discovery, where every step brings us closer to the untamed beauty of the natural world. From hiking in the shadow of jagged peaks to cruising through fjords teeming with marine life, our family eagerly anticipates the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the wild wonders of Patagonia, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Volcano at night
Visiting the volcano Mount Merapi at night. At about an hour drive away from Yogyakarta, this is a nice location to either watch the sunset or the sunrise. Only a short hike of about half an hour is needed from the drop off point. Be aware that it does get cold up here after dark. A taxi to this location shouldn’t cost you much and there is no entrance fee or anything. A free day out!

Mount Merapi Jeep Tour
#thingstodo
Mount Merapi is an active stratovolcano located on the border between the province of Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
We took a jeep trip which was educational and entertaining. The mount merapi is majestic and you get to see smoke and hot larva now & then.
We had the chance to enter the abandoned bunker. It was an interesting tour up to the bunker which once was a bunker which was used previously for villagers who had no time to escape the eruptions.
There are some souvenir shops and street food like bakso around.

Honeymoon in Heaven 💗
This place offers majestic mountain with a great view of the city below. Amazing to come even this close to an active volcano
We used a jeep service to get to there which cost $550k IDR. This includes a few different visits to other areas of Mt. Merapi including an off-road area on a running creak.
The guide/driver was a great photographer and all of our photos taken by him.
Rating is five star ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️

MERAPI MOUNT
MERAPI MOUNT
Volcanoes on Earth are formed when their crust is broken up into 17 major rigid tectonic plates that float on top of the hotter, softer mantle. Therefore, volcanoes on Earth are often found at the divergent and convergent boundaries of tectonic plates. Volcanoes do not usually form where two tectonic plates slide over each other.
The danger of volcanic ash is to aviation, especially jet aircraft because the dust can damage the turbines of jet engines.[2] Large eruptions can affect temperatures because the fumes and sulfuric acid droplets spewed out by eruptions can block the sun and cool the lower part of the Earth's atmosphere such as the troposphere, but the material can also absorb heat emitted from the earth thereby heating the stratosphere.
Furthermore, the term "volcano" is also used to name the phenomenon of the formation of ice volcanoes and mud volcanoes. Ice volcanoes are common in high latitude areas that have snowy winters.
Volcanoes are found all over the world, but the most recognizable locations for volcanoes are those that lie along the arc of the Pacific Ring of Fire.[1] The Pacific Ring of Fire arc is a line of friction between two and more tectonic plates, where the Pacific Plate rubs against each other's plates.
Volcanoes can be found in several forms throughout their lifetime. An active volcano may change to a semi-active phase, rest, before finally becoming inactive or dying.[1] However, volcanoes are able to rest for a very long time, more than thousands of years before turning into active again.[3]
Volcanic eruptions occur when magma rises across the earth's crust and rises above the surface. When a volcano erupts, the magma contained in the magma chamber below the volcano erupts out as lava, where this lava can turn into lava after flowing and mixing with materials on the earth's surface. Apart from lava flows, the devastation caused by volcanic eruptions.
The science that studies volcanoes is called Volcanology, where this science studies volcanic eruptions for the purpose of estimating possible eruptions that can occur from a volcano, so that the negative impact of volcanic eruptions can be suppressed.

Me
As one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia, Mount Merapi has been active in the northern part of Yogyakarta, where you can experience the magic of the volcano and the remains of the volcanic eruption at the time, and experience the madness of an open-top off-road vehicle. wild. In the movie, the jeep was driving, and the scene of the deep jungle adventure began to emerge.
jumping (climbing) on the off-road vehicle, driving to the mountains, the road up the mountain is not easy to open, at first on the flat oil road, but the more up, the board road will be more. I heard that it used to be an oil road. It was because of the volcanic eruption in 2010 that the current road conditions were formed.
It is halfway up the mountain. It is a memorial hall of volcanic sites. It is a memorial hall. It is just a few houses left behind by volcanic eruptions. There are several pictures of the rescue at that time. It is tragic and desolate, and it is deeply pity. .
The car continues to go up, ready to climb to the top to watch the volcano on the observation deck. The more you go up, the worse the air will be, and the whole sky will be covered with fog. On the top of the mountain, the thick fog will occlude the volcano on the opposite side, and the distance can only see the traces of the volcanic lava flowing down.
Playing the Merapi Volcano, be sure to bring a good mask, the dust in the air is bigger
Wendy.
Mount Merapi is located in the northern part of Yogyakarta, the central and southern SAR of the Indonesian capital Jakarta. It is the youngest of the many volcanoes in South Java and the most active of more than 130 volcanoes in Indonesia. Because of the activity of the Merapi volcano, there are countless travel enthusiasts and explorers visiting the city every year. Every time the
Merapi volcano erupts, it will be accompanied by the debris flow of the fire, randomly generating a large amount of volcanic ash, which seriously affects people's production and life, and even threatens the lives of local people.
There is a ruin under the mountain village. In order to make people feel the subsequent impact of the volcanic eruption, there is still a layer of filthy ash in the ruins of the ruins. It seems to be an old courtyard with nowhere to go. .
Merapi Volcano perfectly interprets the deep meaning of the "Shuhai Sangtian". The first volcanic eruption in 1006 ruined a kingdom of Zhongjiao Island. Borobudur, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was also drowned in the vast land. . Every eruption will cause the fall of life. Now, looking back at the site, I feel that the world is changing, the East China Sea is dusting, and in the face of nature, human beings are powerless.
With the natural landscape formed by volcanic eruptions, Merapi has formed a unique volcanic landscape tourism chain, which has gradually become a new local economic growth point.
