In 2024, during my maple viewing trip to the Northeast, I traveled from Sendai to Aomori and visited Morioka City, a charming city. Morioka is located in the central hub of six northeastern counties in Japan. The urban area is run by the Nakatsu River and is surrounded by mountains. It has retro buildings from the Meiji era and the ruins of Morioka Castle with beautiful stone walls. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and the red leaves are dyed yellow. A beautiful landscape painting. This time I woke up very early and took a walk to Morioka Castle Park. This historical site was selected as one of the top 100 castles in Japan and one of the top 100 parks in Japan. When I entered the city, the first thing I saw was the Ishiwari Sakura. The cherry blossoms, which bloom by splitting a huge rock in half, are both powerful and quiet, and I couldn't help but stop and stare. This time I went to Iwate Hanamaki Morioka for a self-guided tour. I didn't expect to encounter heavy snow before departure. I drove for two days to visit Genbikei, Geibikei, Tazawako, and Akita's Bujiashiki. The snow made this trip more beautiful. There are not many tourists in Tohoku in winter, and there is less noise and more tranquility.
