[Hulunbuir] 9.17 Ka Line Report | So beautiful, I'll be back next year.
| So beautiful, I'll be back next year. Today's itinerary, starting from Enhe, the destination is Heishan Head.
Coming out of Enhe, the original plan was to go to the back mountain of Enhe to see the panoramic view of Enhe. As a result, by accident, following the car of a local chartered driver, we drove up the mountain, and saw the Smile River in front of us. Then we continued up the mountain, and there was a large golden birch forest, the blue sky and white clouds and the birch forest seemed to be the sky.
Navigate directly from Enhe to the Shiwei Port to fulfill the family's wish to see the port. We left Enhe around 10:00 and arrived in Shiwei in an hour. During the journey, we were repeatedly impressed by the birch trees on National Highway 331, so beautiful that words cannot describe it. You can only come here yourself!
Around 11:40, after visiting the Shiwei Port boundary monument, we were already a little hungry, so we found a home-cooked restaurant on the main street of Shiwei to fill our stomachs and start our Ka Line journey. Before leaving for Ka Line, we repeatedly confirmed with the restaurant owner, whether Ka Line is closed? Do we need to wait in traffic? The owner's answer was that she did not recommend taking Ka Line, as Ka Line is usually closed for road repairs and traffic jams for 1-2 hours, which will affect the itinerary.
However, a large part of the reason we came to Hulunbuir this time was to take Ka Line, how could we easily give up? After dinner, we went straight to Ka Line, and it turned out that the road was smooth all the way, and there was no traffic jam at all...
As soon as we came out of the Shiwei Port and before entering Jiuka, we were shocked by the beauty of the Ergun River. The Ergun River has nurtured so much on both sides, wetland ecology, birch forests, shrubbery, and with the blue sky and white clouds, in my heart, it deserves to be the most beautiful road in Q!
Jiuka-Qika-Liuka-Heishan Head, after arriving at Heishan Head, we went straight to the horse farm at the foot of the mountain, took an electric car up the mountain to watch the sunset (20 yuan round trip, 10 yuan one way), private cars should not be allowed to drive up the mountain. The sunset shines on the wetlands and horses, at this moment, it is like a movie scene, romantic and beautiful.
❗️❗️❗️ Important Tips:
1️⃣ Drones are not allowed on the entire Ka Line due to border control requirements.
2️⃣ Ka Line is indeed under construction, in sections, with one-way traffic. In fact, we only waited for 10 minutes, and there were alternative lanes for other sections under construction, so there was basically no problem.
3️⃣ Ka Line's climate is quite changeable, and on 9.17, we experienced three kinds of weather, strong wind, heavy rain and strong sun, so we need to prepare clothes in real time.

Waiting for a splendid sunset at Heishantou
It is said that the sunset at Heishantou is very beautiful, so I turned and walked towards the mountains.
Slowly climbing up the slope, the outline of the Erguna River gradually became clear, like a blue ribbon fluttering on the green grassland. In the distance, cattle and sheep appeared faintly on the grassland, suddenly understanding the artistic conception of 'the wind blows the grass low to reveal the cattle and sheep.'
The river on one side was already sparkling under the sunlight, like stars scattered all over the earth. The moon unknowingly climbed up into the blue sky.
Everything was so beautiful that I sat down on the slope to quietly appreciate and wait.
The sunset happened quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the sky changed from a fresh blue to a splendid orange, even the clouds were romantic.
When everything was bathed in warm twilight, I just wanted to enjoy the moment. In the past, watching the sunset, I always recorded it with my phone, forgetting that the eyes are the best camera. This time, I just wanted to immerse myself and enjoy it.

Hulunbuir Grassland Self-Driving Tour
Our itinerary: Hulunbuir--Arxan--Manzhouli--Heishantou Town--Enhe Russian Ethnic Township--Shiwei, Linjiang--Moerdaoga--Erguna--Hulunbuir
This is a clockwise route. The original plan was to travel from Moerdaoga to Erguna via Genhe, but we gave up after learning in Enhe that the road from Moerdaoga to Genhe was under construction and completely impassable.
If you don't go to Genhe, a more suitable itinerary would be a counterclockwise one, because the most beautiful 'Ka' line scenery is on the west side of the road, and it's more appropriate to travel from north to south: Hulunbuir--Erguna--Enhe Russian Ethnic Township--Moerdaoga--Shiwei, Linjiang--'Ka' line (Nine Ka--Five Ka)--Heishantou Town--Manzhouli--Arxan--Hulunbuir
Apart from Arxan, the rest of the trip usually takes 4-5 days, but it requires over 5 hours of driving each day. However, my itinerary is quite relaxed. Except for the longer distances from Hulunbuir to Arxan and from Arxan to Manzhouli, which take 5-6 hours, the driving time for other parts of the trip is 2-3 hours per day. The quality of the national and provincial highways is excellent, and there are few cars, making the drive very comfortable.
The more difficult sections of the road are as follows:
(1) The entire area of Arxan, including the nearly 90 kilometers from Yiershi Town to Arxan Camel Hump Ridge Tianchi, is under construction and very difficult to drive on. According to the owner of the guesthouse, it has been under construction for 3 years, and it's unknown when it will be completed. Due to the high latitude and cold weather, construction can only take place for a few months each year, so progress is slow.
(2) The 50 kilometers from Qi Ka to Enhe, the first half of the road is in good condition, and the scenery along the way is very beautiful. However, the second half enters the construction area, which is all mud pits, and at the final 2-3 kilometers, the road construction team prevented us from proceeding. We had to drive back a long way, then asked the locals and detoured through another village to reach Enhe. This road is not on the map.
(3) Shiwei to Linjiang, about 10 kilometers, is not under construction, but has always been a gravel road. Anyway, it's not long, so it doesn't have much impact.
The moment you see the scenery, everything becomes clear.

Hulunbuir | Chase a Sunset
The grassland bathed in the sunset really feels like an oil painting.
1. There are many haystacks along the border road. Stop the car and take a walk; don't miss it. Take a few group photos against the backdrop of the sunset, and you'll have captured its essence.
2. Heishantou has a famous sunset hill where you can see the sun gradually disappear behind the distant rolling hills, filling your eyes with golden hues. Just standing on the hilltop with the wind blowing can be a bit cold, so bring some warm clothes or blankets.

The most beautiful season in Hulunbuir.
It is said that July and August are the best months to visit the grasslands. I have always been fascinated by the vast and boundless Hulunbuir Grassland, where the sky is vast and the grass is low, revealing cattle and sheep. I booked a flight and decided to go.
On the first day, the plane ✈️ arrived in Hailar. We prepared some dry food for the next few days in the car in Hailar. We stayed in Hailar that night and prepared to set off early the next morning.
On the second day, Hailar → Manzhouli 🚗
If there is any scenery in the grassland, I think it is on the road. As soon as the car gets on the highway, it is an endless grassland. The clouds ☁️ are so low that you can almost touch them. You can see many flocks of sheep, horses, and cattle on the grassland along the road. So along the way, we kept stopping to take pictures. It is about 200 kilometers from Hailar to Manzhouli. We arrived in Manzhouli in the afternoon. There is a Russian Matryoshka Doll Square and the National Gate in Manzhouli. I personally wasn't very interested, so I didn't visit the Matryoshka Doll Square. If you have kids, you might want to check it out. In the evening, we strolled around the city of Manzhouli. Most of the shops on the street sell souvenirs, so remember to bargain. We had dinner at a local Russian restaurant. The restaurant was quite popular 🔥. If you go before 6 PM, you shouldn't have to wait in line. The night view of Manzhouli is quite nice. You can see many Russian girls on the street, and they are very friendly when tourists ask for photos.
On the third day, Manzhouli → Heishantou 🚗
It is about 200 kilometers from Manzhouli to Heishantou. There is a Ribbon River along the way, but we didn't go in 😜. I always believe that the most beautiful scenery is on the road. In Heishantou, we mainly wanted to ride horses and watch the sunset 🌄. However, the weather wasn't great that day, so we didn't see the sunset. Let me tell you a bit more about horse riding. Near Heishantou, there are many horse farms. The ride usually takes about an hour, from the foot of the mountain to the top and then to a small river, costing around 300 yuan per person.
On the fourth day, Heishantou → Russian Folk Village
This part of the journey was mainly to see the rapeseed flowers along the way. We took the route along the China-Russia border, which is not usually taken by tour groups. It was my first time seeing large fields of rapeseed flowers, and it was quite stunning. You can also see some small animals like rabbits and squirrels along the way. I didn't find the Russian Folk Village particularly interesting, so I won't elaborate on it here.
On the fifth day, Folk Village → Erguna → Hailar
We had lunch in Erguna after leaving the Folk Village. There is a Birch Forest National Park along the way, but we didn't go in. On the way from Erguna to Hailar, there is the Morigele River. If you like off-road surfing, you can give it a try. The scenery is quite nice, and you can see the river winding through the mountains. Then we followed this road back to Hailar.

Hulunbuir Heishantou Play and Stay Guide
Coming to the Hulunbuir Prairie, you must experience horse riding once. Unlike the restraint of urban horse farms, riding horses on the vast prairie can feel more freedom and unrestraint.
Heishantou is one of the most suitable places for horse riding in Hulunbuir.
☑️Grass planting reasons:
🔹Professional safety
The horses of Heishantou Horse Farm have been professionally trained, they are relatively gentle and suitable for beginners. The protection measures are in place, and there are professional horsemen to accompany, who will adjust the speed according to your requirements and abilities, very safe.
🔹Beautiful scenery
Rent a horse and go uphill, looking at the wetland forest not far away along the way, golden mixed with red, green, deep and shallow, bright or dark, as if the palette was overturned, randomly splashing out a colorful oil painting. When the weather is good, it's really amazing to watch the sunset from a high place.
❕Safety tips:
Be sure to choose a regular horse farm, wear a helmet, wear a horse vest, children and people who can't ride a horse must be accompanied or led by professionals.
🏨Accommodation recommendation: Heishantou Liev Wetland Manor Hotel
🔸The hotel has a large wetland of its own, and the air is incredibly fresh. Each room has its own balcony, overlooking this beautiful scenery that is not inferior to the scenic spot. There are also small wooden house rooms built directly in the wetland forest, closely surrounded by nature.
🔸Guests can directly enter the wetland from the back door of the hotel, and it takes about 1 hour to walk around the plank road. The restaurant is also in the wetland, and the viewing platform not far from the restaurant can overlook the entire wetland from a high place.
🔸In addition to the beautiful scenery, you can also encounter semi-free-range small animals while strolling in the manor, rabbits, peacocks, the most interesting are the alpacas leading the way - their hair is trimmed like a lady, with their necks raised, the corners of their mouths are like elegant smiles, they are not afraid of people getting close, they are like the posture of the manor owner.
📍Coordinates: 6km east of Eerguna City, Hulunbuir City
KAYLEIGH COPELAND
Sunrise at Heishantou
Get up at five in the morning and set off from the hotel towards Hailar. Because we were always choosing better places along the way, we kept driving forward, about 8 kilometers away from the hotel, on the left, a relatively open place, with water, with woods, very beautiful.

Montenegro, waiting for the sunset and the most beautiful on the road
feel the most beautiful grassland here, when the sun shines on the clouds, on the ground or the light or dark projection, the mountain will have different shades, coupled with The crispness of the green land and the golden color of the rapeseed create the most perfect impression of the grassland.
When you see the beautiful scenery, you must stop and you will not regret it.
The grassland is a painting of oil paintings. The upper layers of clouds are like the tumbling waves. The middle layer is the rolling green wilderness, and the lower layer is full of golden canola flowers. The color is full of color. The atmosphere of stocks and tranquility.
In the foothills of Heishan, waiting for the sunset, seeing the herdsmen returning to the horse~
Heishantou is an ancient city located in Hulunbeier City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The ancient city was named after the head of Montenegro in Ergun.
It is an AAA-level scenic spot with an area of 346,290 square meters and is open free of charge throughout the day. The most famous of Montenegro is the sunset mountain. At sunset, the sun is close to the grassland horizon. The sunset above the mountain seems to be in the golden world. Everything is covered with golden light, and the beauty is shocking.
NBtravel.
I have been to Inner Mongolia four times, and I always wanted to make a horse crash on the grassland, but I have never been able to do so. This time, Hulunbeiers trip was finally able to ride a horse and enjoy the speed and passion of the grassland. We are riding at the Heishantou Haifeng Racecourse. The owner is an authentic Mongolian man. Every horse-riding tourist will provide a helmet and safety clothing. The equipment is new. According to your own needs, the boss will pick you up the horse. There are two kinds of price for riding. One is 100 yuan, one small circle, and the other is 300 times. One big circle. Of course, we must do our best for the first time riding, so it is a big circle. After the riders came back, they were not addicted. They told the boss that they could ride a small circle again. The boss promised, very refreshing, and did not collect more money. Have a good time and do your best to the sunset.
Sky..
I thought that Montenegro was a mountain. I came here to know that Montenegro is a small town and an ancient city. The highest mountain in the ancient city, the locals called it Sunset Mountain, which is the best place to watch the sunset. When the time came, the people in the town went up the mountain and sat quietly on the top of the mountain waiting for the moment when the sun gradually sank. Looking at the distant sky gradually changed from a faint pink to a deep red. The last sunset slowly disappeared into the sky, and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere was created.
Standing on the empty grassland, the sky is filled with rich colors, and the side of the mountain is dyed beautifully. I can't keep the red days of the setting down, only standing in the sunset watching silently. - Cuts are like scenes in movies, low-pressure clouds, colorful colors and people traveling.
"Climb up the mountain, waiting for a sunrise and sunset, the silent romance is actually around.

In Hulunbeier, Inner Mongolia, from the Weiwei River, along the Ergun River to Heishantou Town, the border scenery of 200+km all the way is magnificent! Because at the border of the motherland, our drivers brother also held down my 18-time impulse to fly a drone until I came to Heshantou Town to live in the Mongolian Camp and finally took an aerial photography on the river near us. The afterglow of some sunsets.

Riding a horse in the Heishantou grassland - although it is riding a horse, it is only after riding for a while and then stopping to take the horse to take pictures, because we will not ride horses, so there will be a little brother with me, in fact, I am still very afraid of riding. Especially when I ran up, I always told the little brother of the horse to slow down slowly. After all, it wouldnt work if I ran up my ass...
