Monet's Pond: A spectacular view of clear water, carp, and autumn leaves
Monet's Pond in Gifu Prefecture is famous for the sight of Nishikigoi carp swimming in its crystal clear pond.
The most beautiful times are early summer when the water lilies bloom and in autumn when the leaves change color, and I went when the leaves were at their peak.
The most popular view is Photo 1, and the colors change depending on the time of day.
Photo 1 was taken around 9:30, and Photo 2 was taken around 12:30.
If you like a fantastical atmosphere, early in the morning is best, and if you prefer vivid colors, I recommend taking photos in the afternoon.
However, in the morning when the water temperature is still low, not many carp come out from under the bridge, so it's easier to take photos of the fish swimming after 11:00.
However, as more and more people come out, it becomes more difficult to take photos without people in them, which is a bit of a problem.
If you can't find a time when there are no people around, you can be sure to take photos of the water surface from above this bridge. (Photos 3 and 4)
The color of the water surface is especially beautiful under the bridge, so it's also a great photo spot to take pictures of the clear water, carp, and autumn leaves.
By the way, this pond is next to the torii gate in photo 5, and it's not very big, so you can walk around it in about 5 minutes.
