2025 Grimentz Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

This time, I’m sharing my final thoughts and impressions about the town of Grimentz. I’ve rated it based on my own criteria, using a 5-point scale: Surrounding Tours: 4.5/5.0 Night Views: 4.0/5.0 Overall Satisfaction: 4.5/5.0 Likelihood of Revisiting: 5.0/5.0 Total Score: 4.75/5.0 First of all, there are three nearby towns—Vissoie, Anniviers, and Zinal—that are easily accessible by bus, making it convenient to tour them together with Grimentz. However, the long intervals between bus schedules were a factor I considered in my rating. As for the night views, they are beautiful, but I set Budapest as my benchmark for a perfect score, so I rated it accordingly. Overall satisfaction was very high, but transportation was the only downside, which influenced my evaluation. The gondolas are very well-maintained, there are plenty of hiking trails, and the scenery is diverse, which is why I rated the likelihood of revisiting the highest. I used Interlaken as my standard and found Grimentz to be on par with it. Of course, preferences may vary depending on individual tastes. In conclusion, I’ve rated Grimentz as one of the best travel destinations I’ve visited. It’s a place that will remain memorable for me.

This time, I visited two lakes: Lac de Moiry and Lac de Chateaupre. Getting there is convenient as you can take a single bus from Grimentz to reach the destination directly. However, one crucial thing to keep in mind is the bus schedule. The intervals between buses can vary greatly, such as 30 minutes or even 4 hours, so I strongly recommend planning your trip carefully with this in mind! I started my journey by getting off at Lac de Chateaupre, which is farther from Grimentz, and then walked to Lac de Moiry. The Moiry Lake is the one I saw from the mountain I climbed yesterday, and it turned out to be larger than I expected. It took me about two hours to walk around it. As soon as you arrive, you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of majestic nature! While the mountain hike gave me the sensation of being surrounded by grandeur, the walking trail here offers an overwhelming feeling of being right in the middle of vast and magnificent nature. The breathtaking scenery unfolding before your eyes is truly moving, and that’s my one-line review of this walking trail! There are also dedicated hiking courses for those who prefer a more challenging experience. Today, I decided to stick to the flat walking paths instead of hiking, but most people I saw were equipped with hiking gear and were actively hiking. Like me, their destination was Lac de Moiry, and walking along different paths allowed me to feel immersed in the surrounding environment. It was a serene and tranquil place where you could fully experience the sounds of water, birds, and nature itself—a truly magical spot for a walk! Next, I’ll share my final thoughts as I leave Grimentz.

This time, I took the gondola from Grimentz. The gondola route goes to a place called Escape Weishorn and I chose the gondola that goes up to 2700 meters above sea level, and then I went hiking. As additional information, there is also a gondola from Grimentz to Bendolla, but since this is a place where people who really enjoy hiking go, I chose the gondola because I wanted to enjoy a light hike and see the magnificent nature! The gondola goes along a steep slope, and when you get off, you are at 2700 meters above sea level, and you can see many magnificent mountains over 3000 meters above sea level in front of you! The spectacular view starts as soon as you get off the gondola. There is also a fork in the road, and this is Point de Vue, which is marked on Google Maps. If you continue hiking in that direction, you can see Lac de Moiry on the right, Weisshorn, one of the five giant mountain peaks in the Zermatt area on the left, and many snow-covered mountains with perennial snow!! And you can hike to a mountain called Corne de Sorebois! It's the opposite route from the one we've been on so far, but if you go there, there's a chair that you can see in the picture, and I was able to see the peak of the Matterhorn because the weather was good at that location!! It was hard, but it was a very happy hike, and the experience of being immersed in such grandeur was an incredible experience that I hadn't felt in Interlaken!! If you want to hike more, there are more connected paths, so you can go up higher. I personally felt the grandeur was greater than Interlaken! If you come to Grimentz, you must go up there, and I was very satisfied with the hike to the point that I considered coming to Grimentz just to go up here! Continuing from the previous part, this time I’ll be writing about traveling within the town of Grimentz. As you can see from the photos, it’s a very charming and beautiful town, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Since the journey to get here was long and tiring, I decided to keep it simple and just take a walk around the town. After arriving at the accommodation, I unpacked and had a light lunch at the hotel restaurant. For reference, both the Bulle area and the Grimentz area are small towns, so most accommodations operate as hotel restaurants, combining lodging and dining services. Additionally, the sunrise is around 5:30 AM, and the sunset is around 9:30 PM, meaning the days are very long! This makes it great because you don’t have to rush through your travels. When I went out for a walk, the air was incredibly fresh, likely thanks to the surrounding mountains. There was the scent of grass, wooden chalets, and the aroma of timber from the wooden buildings, which made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable. At an altitude of 1,600 meters, the surrounding mountains are truly breathtaking! Strolling through the town, I found many paths to explore, making it delightful to wander around and discover the area. Highly recommended! And above all, the night view is stunning. I initially thought it might be too dark since it’s such a small town, but there are plenty of streetlights, making nighttime walks comfortable and enjoyable. If you go out after sunset, you can see the starry night sky as shown in the photos! Night walks are a must! Switzerland generally has excellent public safety, so I don’t think there’s any need to worry. 😊 After finishing the small-town tour with a walk, the next plan is a gondola ride and hiking.

I planned a trip to Grimentz, a really small and pretty small city that people don't go to. Since I've already been to big cities like Zurich, Lucerne, Bern, Basel, and Interlaken, the second city I chose as the theme for my trip to a small Swiss city was Grimentz. I chose to travel to Grimentz because it's so cute and beautiful. In this episode, I'm going to talk about the route there. First, I traveled from a small city called Bulle. You can think of it as departing from Bern. It took about 4 hours to get to Grimentz from here. I took train number 2 and bus number 2. It would probably be about the same if I went from Bern. I went to southern Switzerland via a city called Montreux, and the train finally got off at a city called Sierre, and from there I took bus number 2. However, the bus interval is 1 hour, so you have to be careful about this!! When planning your trip, you should definitely consider the total travel time depending on the interval of this bus!! And if you take the bus on a rough road through the valley, you can stop once and transfer to another bus at the stop to get off at Grimentz. Lastly, as a quick tip, Grimentz is a small city located at about 1600m above sea level, and although it is located deep in the mountains, the internet is good~ The only downside is that it takes a long time to get there..
