On the first day of arriving in Salzburg, I was greeted by the sound of bells resonating throughout the city. It was then I realized that this place was not just a tourist destination but a city that flows like a melody. Nestled in the embrace of the Alps, this quiet city had a charm far richer and deeper than its title as 'Mozart's hometown.' Entering the Old Town, the cobblestone streets and densely packed Baroque-style buildings felt like stepping into a scene from an old storybook. Mozart's birthplace was small and modest, yet the mere fact that it was the space where his music was born filled me with overwhelming emotions. Street musicians played his compositions on violins and pianos, making music alive not just within museums but throughout the city. The highlight of Salzburg was undoubtedly the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Taking the cable car up, I was met with a magnificent view that encompassed the entire city and stretched to the distant Alps. The white buildings, red rooftops, and the flowing Salzach River combined to create a landscape that was nothing short of art. Another unforgettable experience was the 'Sound of Music Tour.' Walking through Mirabell Gardens, visiting Leopoldskron Lake and Nonnberg Abbey, I felt like the protagonist of a musical. Especially the view from the steps of Mirabell Palace Garden, with its flowers, sculptures, and the Alps in the background, was a scene I will never forget. The final evening was warmly concluded with local cuisine. Traditional Austrian schnitzel paired with beer, and the dessert of Sachertorte left a taste of Austria lingering in my mouth. Salzburg may not be grand or extravagant, but it is a city of quiet inspiration and profound resonance. A place where music, nature, and art blend seamlessly, it feels like time flows a little slower here, as if under a spell. "Someday, I wish to return and simply stay here, doing nothing but being part of the music-like essence of this city." That is what Salzburg means to me.

Summing up my visit to Salzburg with these memory carousels, half of them are basically from Mirabell Garden 🌸🪻 1.Taken at the bench in front of the fountain, tbh this garden is the smallest garden I’ve seen compared to the ones I’ve been in Paris. You could cross from end to end in 5 mins 2.The fountain with all its glory, I saw a couple with their wedding clothes sitting at fountain edge. Check my story archive about this!⛲️ 3.This take so much effort with my shorty legs 😅 Anything for the gram 4.Mirabelle benches full of vines 5.In front of Mirabell Palace, you can enter this beautiful palace and its garden for free 6.One peace sign in front of the statue✌🏻 7.It is suddenly raining with quite a downpour when we’re at the Hohensalzburg Castle while it was just having a beautiful sunny day in the morning. It's Salzburg and Hallstatt! You usually travel to Vienna a lot〰️ You can go there on a day trip from Vienna☺️ Since it's far, I recommend taking a tour like me if you don't have time, and if you have time, I recommend staying in Halls for one nightㅠ It was such a crazy town that I wanted to stay there for a whole day because it was so pretty. If you don't go, you'll regret it a million times over❗️ 📍Salzburg Salzburg, Mozart's hometown, has the Mirabell Garden and beautiful signs from the movie Sound of Music, and it's fun to look at the pretty signs of the stores just by walking along the luxury street. I went in winter and it was covered in snow, but if you go in other seasons, you can also see the beautiful gardens🫶🏻 📍Hallstatt This place, which was the actual motif of Frozen, is so beautiful that you'd think it would be a fairytale lake town🫧 The road there was pretty, but when I arrived, I kept exclaiming "Wow..." and wandered around🥹 I went on a tour departing from Vienna It took 6 hours round trip, but I never regretted it or had a hard time! Some of the best trips happen without a plan—and that’s exactly how I ended up in Salzburg on a warm summer day. With no fixed agenda, I hopped on a train from Munich, thanks to the €49 Deutschlandticket, which, to my surprise, covered regional trains all the way to Austria. No extra ticket, no stress—just a last-minute adventure. 🚆 A Train Ride into the Unknown As the train rolled out of Munich, I had no idea what to expect. I watched through the window as Bavaria’s countryside unfolded—endless fields, sleepy villages, and the first glimpse of distant mountains. The ride was smooth, the summer air warm, and an hour and a half later, I found myself stepping into a city I hadn't even planned to visit: Salzburg. 🏰 First Impressions: A Fairytale Town The moment I left the station, Salzburg’s charm hit me—pastel-colored buildings, baroque domes, and cobblestone streets winding along the river. No itinerary, no rush—I simply walked, following wherever looked interesting. I ended up on Getreidegasse, where I accidentally stumbled upon Mozart’s birthplace, hidden among stylish shopfronts and wrought-iron signs. 🎶 A City of Music & Unexpected Movie Scenes It didn’t take long before I recognized spots from The Sound of Music. Without meaning to, I walked into Mirabell Gardens, where I could almost hear "Do-Re-Mi" playing in the background. The Hohensalzburg Fortress loomed above the city, and I made a mental note to check it out—after coffee. ☕ Café Culture & Austrian Treats By midday, I needed a break. I grabbed a seat at Café Tomaselli, ordered an espresso and a slice of Sachertorte, and just people-watched. Something about Salzburg made time slow down. Later, I found a beer garden, where I ordered a giant pretzel and a cold Austrian beer. No agenda, just good food and sunshine. 🌄 Chasing Views at Hohensalzburg Fortress Eventually, I made my way up to Hohensalzburg Fortress, either out of curiosity or just to see if the views were as good as everyone says. Spoiler: they were even better. From the top, Salzburg looked unreal—the Salzach River winding through the city, the rooftops glowing in the afternoon light, and the Alps in the background. It was the kind of view that makes you stop and appreciate where you are. 🚞 The Journey Back – But Not Without One Last Stroll As the sun started dipping, I wandered along the Salzach River, watching the golden light reflect on the water. By the time I caught the evening train back to Munich, I felt like I had discovered something completely unplanned, yet completely perfect. ✨ Final Thoughts Salzburg wasn’t on my itinerary, but maybe that’s what made it so special.
