#QuintessaCampaign The Mikasa Memorial Ship, located in Mikasa Park in Yokosuka, is the sixth battleship ordered from the British Vickers Shipyard. It was completed in March 1902 and immediately sailed to Yokosuka. In December 1903, when Japan-Russia relations worsened and the country was on a war footing, it was incorporated into the Combined Fleet and became its flagship. It is a short walk from the station and is near the US military base. You can see the real warship in a quiet park. It takes about an hour to get a good look at it from inside.

From Yokosuka Station, it is about a 15-minute walk. ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯ There is a recommended tour route on the ship, follow the route to avoid repetition or omission. Yokosuka, located on the Miura Peninsula, is famous for its exotic streetscapes. From the moment you step out of the station, you can feel the unique atmosphere of American culture, with English signs everywhere (for renting houses, selling cars), just like an American village. ⋯⋯⋯⋯ Recommended attractions: Mikasa Park (one of Japan's top 100 urban parks) Sarushima (the largest uninhabited island in Tokyo Bay) Dobu Itadori Shopping Street (exotic cultural fusion) ICHIGO (a food supermarket converted from a giant freezer warehouse) ⋯⋯⋯⋯ Buy an embroidered jacket here, taste navy curry and American hamburgers, and take a look at Tokyo Bay and Sagami Bay. This is a must-see itinerary.

#sightseeing I went to Yokosuka for a visit. I went to Mikasa Park, where the Mikasa battleship is on display. It's a very popular tourist spot, with foreign tourists and bus tour groups. You can also see inside if you purchase an admission ticket in the building opposite! I didn't go inside, but the ship was so big and impressive, and I could feel the history! You should definitely go on a nice day!

#thingstodo The park was very nice well-maintained has several spots that would be good for taking pictures. It also has a very long channel and at the back of the park is a pond that does water shows at certain times throughout the day. Overall I think this is a very beautiful Park to visit. Oh there were also signs that warned you about hawks taking your food....

#2024wish This is a great park to visit. There are many sculptures and water features both in the park and leading up to the park. There is a water fountain show to music every couple of hours- and at night they add colored lights. There is also a theater and often they will have music. The battleship Mikasa is there and open for tours. I did not take a tour but friends did and they enjoyed it very much. I’ve included a photo with the times if the water fountain show. I want to go here again in 2024.

#2024wish The highlight of my visit to Yokosuka - an informative and lovingly maintained icon of Japanese naval history. Staff were knowledgable and passionate and spoke good English. Highlight was the exhibit below deck dedicated to the Battle of Tsushima. Naval history enthusiast or not, I thoroughly recommend spending a few hours on board this magnificent and unique ship. I want yo visit this again in 2024.

#AutumnTravel Last year, when I visited Kagoshima, I was disappointed that there were few traces of Togo, but in Yokosuka, there were plenty! Along with Mikasa. When I went into the souvenir shop, there were a few goods with the "Z flag" mark. I felt that Yokosuka Chuo Station was somehow similar to Kagoshima Chuo Station.
