Absolutely beautiful beaches, The Meelup National Park
Meelup beach is just gorgeous, beautiful clear water on a good day. There's rocks to clamber over, peppermint trees to sit under on the grassy area, the beach sand is soft and like velvet on your feet, can get hot though! Very busy in peak season like today, lots of people, difficulty getting parking. So if the beach is too crowded go for a drive along the coast to Eagle Bay, Bunkers Bay, Castle Rock is usually quieter.
The Meelup National Park Trail offers a walk from Old Dunsborough beach along the coastline to Eagle Bay. It is an easy walk - out and back its about 15km. It gives ocean views and a peaceful bush experience. Along the way back, I came upon the back entrance to Lot 80 restaurant. It was a very welcome pitstop and the coffee was outstanding. This walk should be started early morning to enjoy the clear morning light on the ocean. I thoroughly enjoyed watching pods of dolphin leaping out of the water at Castle Rock.
