I envy people living in Almaty. It only takes 15 minutes from the city to easily reach Shymbulak, the largest and most modern ski resort in Central Asia. The ski season is from November to April of the following year, and the snow-white slopes are crowded with ski enthusiasts. It is said that the cost of skiing here is only 20 US dollars, so anyone can enjoy this snowy wonderland! Even if you can’t ski, it’s wonderful to stand on the top of the mountain and look at this magnificent snow-capped mountain! Shimbulak was built in 1954 and has been a training base for Soviet skiers since the mid-1950s. It is also the venue for championship competitions in the former Soviet Union and Kazakhstan. There is also the Medeo Ice Rink on the mountain, located between the majestic valleys. The ice surface reflects the snow of the Tianshan Mountains. Every moment of skating on the ice is like walking through a painting of nature. Even if you don't come to ski or skate, you can still stay in a hotel on the mountain and immerse yourself in the embrace of nature. In summer, this place turns into a tranquil summer resort, where you can stroll along the verdant mountain trails, go paragliding, horseback riding, breathe the fresh air, and feel the infinite charm of nature. There are three cable car sections from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, which are 4.5 kilometers, 2 kilometers and 1 kilometer respectively.

I took a taxi to see the Medeo skating rink. Taxis are cheap and fast, so I recommend them. There is a ropeway station a little way down from the skating rink. It costs 5,000 tenge for a round trip to the top station. The view was really nice and it was great in August☆ After you get off at the first station, there are two stations. The right side has a nice view, so I recommend it! The left side is more crowded because you can go to the top without moving. Once you get to the top, you can go hiking.
