Manyuan Village was my favorite part of the entire Xishuangbanna trip. I also went to Manzhang and Manhena, but I still prefer Manyuan, perhaps because of the "A Longing for Life" filter. There are fewer people in the village, and more natural scenery. There are small stalls set up by locals, roast chicken shops, restaurants, and fruit vendors selling mangoes🥭. You can also do pottery, which is perfect for an afternoon stroll. 🍃The entire village is truly beautiful, worthy of being one of the ten most beautiful villages in China. Every house is a traditional Dai stilt house, each one clean and tidy, full of Dai charm, and flowers💐 and fruit trees are everywhere. Upon entering the village, a primitive atmosphere washes over you, giving you a sense of tranquility, peace, and leisurely comfort. 🚗Manyuan Village is a half-hour drive from Gaozhuang. We took a DiDi, and the driver waited for us at the village entrance after dropping us off. The round trip cost about 💰160. 🛖The "A Longing for Life" mushroom house is considered the biggest cultural attraction in the village. It's 20 yuan per person, and children are free. It's worth going inside; there are many items and photos📷 left over from the show. There's the kitchen where Huang Lei cooks, the swing that Zifeng often plays on, and many memories from the show. The swing is great for photos, but it was backlit when we went in the afternoon! 💗If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, slow down and experience this slice of life.

Xishuangbanna is a treasure trove for kids✨! Walk with elephants🐘 at Wild Elephant Valley, and act as an elephant mom, helping bathe and feed them; hike through the rainforest, catch crabs🦀, wade through streams, and swing on rope swings; celebrate the Water Splashing Festival💦 in Manyuan Village, cut banana trees, make Dai pottery, and explore rainforest insects at night~ - 1️⃣ There's no off-season in Xishuangbanna! There's only peak season and super peak season, so if you're traveling independently, book your accommodations in advance! It gets expensive and hard to book during peak season! 2️⃣ Direct flights to Banna are a bit pricey✈️. Flying to Banna via Kunming is relatively cheaper! 3️⃣ The temperature in Banna is recently between 15–30°C⛅️. There's a big temperature difference between day and night, so bring a light jacket or windbreaker! 4️⃣ Try to dress your kids in long sleeves and pants to protect them from mosquito bites! 5️⃣ Rainforest trekking is a must-do in Banna. The trails aren't long but they're amazing. It's a great way for kids to connect with nature and learn about rainforest plants and animals. It's worth it! 6️⃣ Wild Elephant Valley is worth visiting, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're only going to see wild elephants. Seeing them is purely a matter of luck! I took my kids there to interact with elephants up close, and we also saw monkeys and butterflies. 8️⃣ Avoid the popular photo shoots. Buy a set of Dai clothes at the night market for around 40 RMB and take your own photos. It's beautiful and practical! 9️⃣ You can go to the Starlight Night Market, but don't buy jade or handicrafts you don't understand! - 🙆‍♀️We stayed at the Wanda Vista Xishuangbanna Resort with our kids, and we didn't move around at all, so we didn't have to lug our luggage back and forth. 💁‍♀️Here's our itinerary: D1: Arrive in Xishuangbanna from various locations. Evening: Explored the Starlight Night Market and experienced the local night market culture. D5: Wild Elephant Valley—Departure Interacted with elephants up close at Wild Elephant Valley. The baby elephants were super cute✨, and they would hide the food we gave them, haha. We went with a family tour group and used the VIP channel, so we didn't have to wait in line. The kids got to interact with the elephants, bathe them with brushes and water guns🫧, feed them carrots, and shovel their poop... They even got volunteer certificates. The kids were so happy! After the activities, we departed based on our flight schedule.

After the Spring Festival in 2025, we will start to travel off-peak and come to Xishuangbanna again. With elderly parents and a child, we weren't rushing to check off every scenic spot. Instead, we focused on strolling through the villages, buying local specialties, and enjoying the local cuisine. Manyuan Village is a well-developed tourist village. Just like Lijiang Ancient Town, some people love its bustling atmosphere, while others find it too commercialized. I really recommend traveling during the off-season; the benefits are numerous. ✅CNY 40 for a roast chicken, roasted for an hour, so tender we ordered another one. The older generation kept saying how great the value was and that we should have ordered one each. 🍚Rice costs CNY 10. ✅CNY 20 to visit the mushroom house, and there weren't many people. If you enjoy checking in at popular spots, it's a good choice. ✅CNY 15 for pottery making (without kiln firing). Adults can buy boxes of pomelo for CNY 5 or watermelon for CNY 10, sit on the hammocks under the stilt houses, and watch the kids play with clay for an hour. Super cost-effective.

Yesterday, I went to Manyuan Village with my parents. I thought 2-3 hours would be enough, but we ended up staying for most of the day. There was so much to see, eat, and do. Because it's far from the city, there aren't many tourists even on weekends. The restaurants in the old town are generally not very hygienic, but there are a few small restaurants with authentic flavors that are delicious. Mannuan Village is a Dai ethnic village located in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. We rented a car from Gaozhuang and drove east. Today's itinerary mainly includes visiting the Dai Ethnic Garden to watch the Water-Splashing Festival. We set off at 10 a.m., and on the way, we visited the shooting location of 'A Life of Longing', one of China's top ten beautiful villages, Manyuan Village, and checked in at the Mushroom House. It took about half an hour to drive here, and we passed by a fruit stand with the number X. Be careful not to buy fruit out of curiosity, as the prices are even higher than those in the scenic area. The only place you can stop by is a high-rise Mekong River viewing platform. Entering Manyuan Village will cost 10 yuan for management fees. Once the car is in, just find a parking spot. There will be road signs in the village pointing to the Mushroom House. It's about a seven or eight-minute walk. There is an entrance fee to the Mushroom House, 20 yuan per person. We also came specifically to check in, so in the spirit of 'since we're here, let's go in and have a look'. It's very quiet around, with distant mountains like ink.
