Walking through rivers, chasing waterfalls

I believe that true travellers LOVE going off the beaten path to find hidden gems. Manuaba Waterfall in Bali is a gem that brings you on an adventure.
Manuaba Waterfall is untouched, newly opened in 2019). In Kenderan Village, Tegallalang (north of Ubud centre), it's hidden near the Pura Griya Sakti Manuaba temple. There was barely anyone, so the short hike to the 2 waterfalls was exciting.
After walking through (~15 mins) rice fields and dense rainforest, you find a waterfall - for pictures, and a 2nd one later - for swimming. To access/exit the 2nd waterfall, you need to walk through a shallow river with high rocks on both sides. This was the highlight! The light creeping through the trees, the cold water flowing around your calves, the sound of nature - it felt like being in an Indiana Jones movie. We had never walked through a river before, so this was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend to thrill seekers out there.
Tips for visiting Manuaba Waterfall:
- Entrance fee is IDR10.000
- Flip flops are fine
- The trek is easy, though some parts are steep, high and challenging
