Manting Park in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan - The Royal Garden of the Dai King
Manting Park is located in the southeast of Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, about 2 kilometers from the city center, in the triangular area where the Lancang River and Liusha River converge.
Manting Park has more than 500 well-preserved ancient ironwood forests and vegetation. The park has hills and rivers, and has a rich ethnic cultural landscape. It is a natural village-style park. It used to be the royal garden of the Dai King and has a history of more than 1300 years. The scenic area embodies the three main themes of 'Dai Royal Culture, Buddhist Culture, and Dai Folk Culture'.
Manting Park is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna, with a history of more than 1300 years. It used to be the royal garden of the Dai King of Xishuangbanna. It was a place where feudal lords and chieftains played and admired flowers in Dai history. Legend has it that when the Dai queen came to the park, the beautiful scenery of the park attracted the queen's soul, so it was named Chunhuan Park, which means 'Garden of Souls' in Dai.
The main entrance of Manting Park is located on the south side of the park. The park is equipped with six scenic spots: Ethnic Culture Square; Vine Plant Area; Royal Orchid Garden; Release Lake; Buddhist Culture Area; Tree Planting Memorial Area.
The Buddhist Culture Area has the Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple - Wabajie, which is famous in Southeast Asia, and the White Pagoda, Octagonal Pavilion, and Release Lake. Here you can appreciate the rich Theravada Buddhism culture by offering incense, tying Buddha lines, releasing lives and other Buddhist activities, and visiting the Pali Sutra.
The 6,000 square meters of black heart forest in the park, with vines and strange flowers and trees, colorful and competing for beauty, providing cool shade in summer and pleasant coolness. The Release Lake with blue waves, green grass and colorful flowers is a great place for leisure and entertainment.
Best season: October to June is the best, avoiding the rainy season. Jinghong has no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, and it is warm and pleasant all year round. May to October each year is the off-season, which is the rainy season.

Xishuangbanna | Princesses, please come to Banna
| Princesses, please come to Banna. The aftermath of the four-day and three-night tour of Vocal Xishuangbanna is really big! At this moment, I am still savoring it in bed! Let's talk about some nonsense with everyone~
🪄Airplane and wine🍷+preparation
I booked the flight and hotel more than a month in advance. There are direct or connecting flights from Shanghai, depending on individual needs. It is convenient and lively to choose to stay in the Gaozhuang scenic area.
Girls👧🏻 prepared a lot of clothes and accessories to make a big fuss, but you can actually buy them locally. Small camisoles, small skirts, beautiful bracelets, cute woven bags, etc. are cheap and affordable, and you can also experience the fireworks of the night market🎆! I was too lazy to bring anything like mosquito repellent, sunscreen, diarrhea medicine, power bank, etc. mentioned in the guide before departure. You can buy everything in Banna, and I have a reliable sister who is ready for everything! I want to mention that other guides say that there are few mobile power banks. I just came back and tell everyone that there are in hotels, roadside shops, night markets, and restaurants! After preparing the external things, the most important thing is to prepare a happy mood and look forward to the journey~
🪄Attractions+food and drink
Choose what you like for sightseeing! There is no such thing as stepping on thunder, different cities have different fireworks. Whether or not it meets psychological expectations, enjoy the journey and feel the present, and it will be colorful in life when you recall it later! Here is a key point: there are several temples in Banna, please pay attention to your dress when entering the temple!
For sisters👭 who love to take pictures📷 and don't pursue amazing tastes, you can try to go to the internet celebrity shop, the price of the dishes is moderate and the pictures are out. But I recommend small restaurants on the side of the road more. The environment is not so particular, but the taste is okay! Don't miss the snacks in the night market, eat something when you are tired from walking and playing, it's simply satisfying!
Tourism safety tips+prevention of infectious diseases Play and play, life is the first! Don't take a black car, Didi in Banna is very convenient, you can choose a taxi🚕 or a hotel🏨 shuttle! Remember to stay away from travel agencies that sell Myanmar day trips and messy tours! Politely refuse strangers who sell portraits everywhere, it is more reliable to consult in the store or find a good photographer in advance. Don't just follow strangers! Please be careful during the tour, be careful not to fall into the water and watch out for steps! Walk under the coconut tree and watch out for falling coconuts! Safety is the most important thing when you are out!
The most fierce thing in Banna a while ago was dengue fever. I specifically asked about it before departure. Fortunately, the dengue fever in November is not so fierce! But everyone still needs to pay attention to mosquito bites, wash their hands frequently, disinfect frequently, and spray some mosquito repellent from time to time. It's always good to pay more attention⚠️! Finally, I wish everyone a happy journey, no matter where you are, you can have a happy day🥰🥰!

❗️Although I still put on makeup today, I think the makeup of the Dai people is relatively simple and elegant. You can actually go to the night market to buy a set of clothes for 3.40 yuan and do your own makeup. There is really no need to spend money on makeup💁🏻♀️
📍There are many photo scenes in Manting, so whether you wear Dai costume or Western costume, you can find a suitable style to take pictures👌🏻I was always obsessed with Dai costume before, and now I regret a little bit. I should do the style that suits me, not wear clothes that I don't like to cater to the scene🫠
🙋🏻♀️Almost every step on the scene, there will be photographers inviting you to take pictures. The prices and styles are different. We did not invite photographers, just took pictures for fun📷

||🌟How can you not wear Dai clothes when you come to Banna‼️My clothes were bought at Weirong Clothing in Starlight Night Market👗: Dai clothes➕Sari➕Necklace waist decoration is 75rmb! The recent tourist peak season price increase is very serious💰! In fact, there are many cheaper than Weirong❗️Sisters👭 must try to bargain~
·
⚠️If you go to Manting Park in the morning, there are actually not so many people👥! The best places to shoot are concentrated near the Royal Elephant Cafe☕, so those who want to get the shots🉑 can rush there first, and when you are tired or want to avoid the heat, you can go in and have a cup of fruit tea to cool down🍹!!
·
📸The most photogenic 🐉staircase is next to the cafe, and the famous large scene running position (as shown in Figure 6) can be seen by looking down the stairs, but the grassland🌿 is recently bald and not very good-looking🙊! The tree scene🌲 in Figure 4 is on the right side of the cafe👉🏻 on the grass, there may be people queuing to take pictures👀!

The wonders of Manting Park
Manting Park is a peaceful beautiful place to spend a morning. Yes it was a little busy but they did not take away from the beauty. Around each corner one would find a stunning temple. The main Buddha was breathtaking. The heat from the candles showed one how treasured this place truly is. I highly recommend going.
It was 40 RMB per a person

Manting is one of the main touristic destinations in Xishuanbanna. It’s a very beautiful park, extremely green, with temples. There are many activities in the park. You can rent local style clothes by the entrance and take great pictures. Rental fee for the dress - 200 rmb. You can rent a boat and sail along the canal. Or enjoy animals show, or take pictures with parrots.

Manting Park
We decided to visit Manting Park. It was very nice and the gardens are beautiful. It was very crowded as it was CNY. I wasn’t a fan of the elephant ‘garden’ as the elephants were in an area that was very loud and crowded. Hopefully the animals in the park are treated well. Also, there are limited bathrooms within the area and the facilities are not the best.

One of our favourite parts of our trip to Xishuangbanna was Manting Imperial Park. Here you can be surrounded by the flora and fauna that is typical to this tropical paradise, as well as get a glimpse into the unique architecture in the form of temples.
There is also an elephant show in the park, and a dance performance evening that you can get tickets for around ¥200 (buffet and bonfire included!)

Feeling like a Thai girl in China’s Thailand!
There were so many temples to check in Manting park, Xishuangbanna! It gives you a feeling like you’re in Thailand with all the tropical surroundings!
I was travelling alone so I had nobody to take pictures of me, but that’s not a problem when you’re in Xishuangbanna! You will find photographers in every corner!
I really wanted to try these Thai dresses that everyone was wearing, so I found a girl who told me that I could wear the dress and take 25 pictures for just 100rmb! Not a bad price I think🤭!
And this was the result➡️
Totally worth it! I just love these pictures 💚!#summervacation #naturalwonders #xishuangbannatravel #chinatravel #tropicalvibes #solotravel

The beautiful temples of Xishuangbanna
Manting park is one of the must-visit attractions of Xishuangbanna. It is a park with nearly endless photo opportunities or just for appreciation of the old style thai/chinese architecture. There are many small and large temples within manting park, some of which are active buddhist temples. Within the park there are lots of other activities such as boating on the lake and river, watching the minority shows and dances, watching the elephant shows, looking at the peacocks and parrots, seeing how the Dai minority people made paper and pottery and much more.
There are places you can rent Dai minority clothing for photo opportunities throughout the park and you will see lots of people doing just that as you walk around the park.
Walking around this park really gives you a sense for what it was like to be a Dai minority person in ancient times in terms of culture, food, entertainment and general living.

Manting Park
Manting Park is one of the most important landmarks and tourist attractions of Xishuangbanna.
This place is not located in down town, however It can be reached easily by taxi or public transport.
The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours.
The place is very well maintained, clean and beautiful ornate buildings. It's not crowded at all compared with other landmarks.
Very worth visiting and cheap entrance fee. Bring your walking shoes and camera because there are too many places to explore around.
This is good option if you traveling with kids as they will be definitely entertained around the place.

Dai style park.
There was the palace of Dai kind but I couldn’t get in: it was closed because of the virus.
However it’s a beautiful place to take pictures and enjoy the nature. You can also watch elephants’ show and take photos with the parrots.
It’s not far from the city. So no need to worry about the distance. Just go and enjoy your day. Be ready so spend at least 4 hours in the park.

Is Manting Park worth it?
Did you hear of Manting Park? It’s one of the oldest parks in Xishuangbanna. Full of unique architecture and fauna. It’s full of Dai culture!
The park you can easily spend several hours here wandering around the parks that surround the lake
🌿During the day, this place is great to wonder around the nature, bask in the sun, ride a boat in the lake, feed the fish and take in the different temples.
🐟In one part, there is a place where you can buy fish and release them back into the lake - this is seen as good luck. If you don’t want to buy fish, you can buy fish food to give thanks.
🕊Plus you can also see some wildlife and many birds - there is also an elephant show, parrot and mini-horse on site although not something I enrolled in.
At nighttime, they also hold an evening show with bonfire and lanterns. (Although I didn’t see anything about this during Covid times!)
💰The park costs enter - you can buy tickets on Meituan or simply buy them at the park entrance. I purchased tickets from Meituan for around 30rmb p/p. It was worth the price for a relaxing day out.
📍35 Wanting Road, Jinghong City
🚕 It’s really easy to get to, simply hail a car or self-drive to Manting Park. Parking is available on site.
🍔 There are some food vendors inside the park including drinks, ice creams, snacks and main meals
☀️ It gets really hot during the day and there is plenty of places to find shade, but make sure you use sun screen!

Manting Imperial Garden
Currently 4A attraction. Formerly known as the Manting Imperial Garden of the Dai People’s King, with a history of over 1300 years. It’s opened to tourists since early 1985 and really worth to walk around for 1-2 hours. I don’t recommend the elephants or parrot shows… poor caged animals.

Manting Park - Xishuangbanna
I had a great time at Manting Park!
Here’s some information about this scenic spot:
“Manting Park in Xishuangbanna used to be the Imperial Garden of the Dai Kingdom, with a Buddhist temple called Zongfo Si inside. The Dai cultural show and bonfire party happen there every evening.
Manting Park, a natural village-style park, is 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) southeast of downtown Jinghong, the major city of Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province. The park has over 500 well-preserved ancient kassod trees and other plant species, hills, rivers, and local Dai architectures and temples, presenting a collection of tropical nature and the culture of the Dai royal family, Buddhism, and Dai folk customs.”
I also recommend going to the Bonfire Party. Although I think the Bonfire Party at Grand Theater was better, it’s still a great experience!

Attractions
Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It is divided into the east area and the west area. The west area is richer in content and suitable for taking pictures. There are royal lotus, trees🌲, flowers🌸, Fujimoto Garden, etc., as well as hot air balloons🎈. The eastern area is mainly for rainforest hiking, which is suitable for people who like to hike rainforest scenery and wonders of the rainforest, which contains the strangulation phenomenon of trees.
You need to buy tickets for scenic spots in the East District because the distance is really far. If you are able to walk in the West District, you can go on foot without buying a tour ticket, because the scenery along the way is also very good, and you can take photos and so on.
Manting Park⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's very unique. I won't say much more, but here are some photos. There are some local street performances.
Tropical Flower Garden⭐⭐⭐
There are many tropical flowers. The tour ticket includes explanation. The sculptures inside are quite unique. Friends who like to take pictures can take a group photo.
Food
Daihong Coffee⭐⭐⭐
I recommend milk cocoa. I drank three cups in four days, and one day I drank their milk tea hahaha. It has a very strong cocoa flavor, but you can also drink milk. In short, it is very suitable for my taste, a little sweet.
Manyuan Village Grilled Chicken & Pineapple🍍Sticky Rice⭐⭐⭐⭐
The pineapple rice is sweet and sour, slightly sweet, and the glutinous rice is non-sticky and moderately soft and hard.
The roasted chicken is very fragrant, really fragrant, 🤤.
