🍀 Route: From the northwest gate up the mountain, walk the stone stairs, there is a steep staircase next to the highest waterfall, and a small section of dirt road. Along the way, you can enjoy multiple waterfalls and pools, streams, and take photos for check-in. After reaching the highest point, continue forward, you will see a door, there is a section of grass on the left, after passing through, turn left, walk along the asphalt road, you can see the Sanzhou Field Reservoir. Then walk forward along the stone steps, you will pass an intersection, climb up the slope to the left past the Overseas Chinese City's Tianlu and golf course. Continue along the dirt road downhill, you can reach the north gate.

Who says there is no spring in Shenzhen? Here, the greenery is lush and the flowers are in full bloom! We drove to Maluan Mountain Country Park in Shenzhen for a weekend getaway.
There are flower fields, lakes, ancient villages, and waterfalls. We hiked from Dakeng Reservoir to Xiaojiuzhai, enjoying the intoxicating scenery along the way.
Passing through the tunnel, the lush greenery makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. The picturesque landscape is like a painting, and every photo you take looks like a masterpiece!
When you're tired, go to Xiaojiuzhai to see the waterfalls and streams. The clear stream glistens in the sunlight, and the fish swim leisurely in the water.

I had an amazing afternoon at Maluanshan Countryside Park in Shenzhen. It was a perfect summer day, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend it. ☀️
The park is located in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees. The air was filled with the sweet scent of flowers, and the sound of birds chirping added to the tranquil atmosphere. I took a leisurely stroll along the well-maintained trails, admiring the beauty of the surroundings.
The tall trees provided shade from the sun, creating a cool and peaceful atmosphere. It felt like I was in another world, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, with a unique atmosphere. It's a great place to take photos or simply relax, listening to the sounds of nature.
But the highlight of my visit was definitely the waterfalls. There are several stunning waterfalls in the park, offering a refreshing and peaceful escape from the heat of the summer. One of them, the Malan waterfall, cascades down from a height of over 10 meters, creating a mesmerizing display of nature's beauty.

After entering from the north gate, you need to drive 3 kilometers on the asphalt road, and it takes about 40 minutes to reach the magnificent waterfall. The scenery along the way is average, so we suggest you visit after rainfall to see a more spectacular sight.
During this trip, we first went to the waterfall group at the northwest gate and then headed to the north gate to see the big waterfall, with the drive taking about half an hour. When we arrived at the north gate, it was around 4:30 in the afternoon, so we were not exposed to strong sunlight on the way, making our journey very relaxing and enjoyable.

Or you can walk back to the guardhouse and into the country park, follow the Bi Ling trail up the mountain, and in about 15 minutes you will see the first waterfall, and if you go further up, there is an even bigger waterfall. It's all stairway paths, which are relatively easy to walk.

About Transportation
The transportation here is very convenient, you can take the subway line 14, get out at exit A, and take a taxi for 10 minutes.
For friends who drive here, there are two parking lots, if you don't want to hike, park at the first security booth, and enter on the left to play in the stream. I really regret not coming to this stunning trail earlier. The Butterfly Trail is 3.4 kilometers long, starting from the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Banyan Tree at Maluan Mountain and ending at the north gate of Maluan Mountain, with most of the path shaded. Here, you can find a dense forest habitat with babbling streams and a long corridor for butterfly watching where butterflies flit about.
The trail is equipped with a butterfly-themed educational system that retells the story of the butterfly's life cycle, making it an educational and entertaining route suitable for family hikes, as well as a path for self-healing.
How to enter the Butterfly Trail? At the north gate of Maluan Mountain Country Park, go to the yellow sign in the last picture, and follow the small path inside, and you will reach the Butterfly Trail. ⚠️There are many waterfalls near the northwest gate, which are also good for taking photos. The Ma Luan Waterfall near the north gate is in its dry season this time of the year, and the on-site effect looks very 'sloppy'.
💙Recommended essential part of the route: Pingyan Plum Viewing Trail. The trail is full of greenery and bursting with life, which is super comfortable. When you reach the Meiting section, there is a beautiful tree next to the pavilion that is perfect for taking photos📷!
🌳It is worth mentioning that the first half of the route from the northwest gate is stone steps, but it is not difficult. I wanted to go to Ma Luan Mountain when I saw the video of it in the summer, and finally decided to go with my friends during the New Year's Day holiday! It didn't disappoint me. In the morning, I took a taxi directly to the , and I could enter the park by scanning a (fire code) at the entrance. Following the path down from the left side of the northwest gate guardhouse, you can see a babbling stream, and further ahead is the quiet Metasequoia forest.
The red, yellow and green Metasequoia trees, reflected in the stream, exude the vigorous vitality of mountains, water and millions of creatures. It is a rare 'autumn charm' in Shenzhen. I feel that it is more suitable to play in the stream in summer, suitable for all ages. The best place to take pictures is at the single-plank bridge. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the entrance to see the waterfall group. The scenery along the way is very good, with babbling streams and insects and birds singing all the way. Walking in the shaded path, it's not very sunny. When you reach the top of the mountain, there are small vendors on the side of the road, selling water/hot dogs/fruits, etc., ranging from 5-20 yuan. Or walk back to the guardhouse and walk into the country park, you can also go up the mountain along the Biling trail, you can see the first waterfall in about 15 minutes on foot, and there is a larger waterfall further up.

The north gate can see the largest waterfall in Maluan Mountain with a drop of about 30 meters, but please note that this gate can only visit this waterfall attraction. The route is about 3 kilometers of mountain road with no shade and no scenery. In addition, this waterfall heavily depends on rainfall to have water flow, so if there is no rainfall 2 days before the tour, there is no need to take this route.
