Madu The Bakery Singapore
A new bakery has just popped up and it's opened by a Medan-born home baker Jocelyn, who also named her business after the Bahasa Indonesian word for 'honey'. 🍯 Really apt name, considering how there're so many sweet treats! Not only does their bakes look amazing, the space is also beautifully decorated with sleek wooden accents and beige walls. 😍
We can see why the 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝘂𝗻 is highly-raved by many; the garlic Usually, the Korean style includes cream cheese, but theirs is stuffed with mentaiko cream instead. This was a pleasant surprise, especially since one of us is lactose-intolerant. The end result is one that isn't overly rich but still retains its garlicky flavour packed full of umami goodness. 🧄 There are two other variations of their Signature Buns - the 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗸𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗻 and 𝗨𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗻, both of which we heard great things about!
We initially thought the 𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗨 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 is going to be filled with chocolate cream from the looks of it. However, the croissant is made of orange zest and have a citrusy sweetness. The croissant is fluffy, but slightly lacking when it comes to buttery richness. 🥐 It would also be better if there's more filling. We tried a similar version of their 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲 in Thailand, and was surprised to see that they have it here. We definitely could taste the coconut but we felt that the coffee was under-extracted, causing an unpleasant sour taste which is amplified by the coconut. 🥥
