Ma On Shan Country Park is located in the eastern New Territories, connecting Sai Kung Country Park and Lion Rock Country Park. There are many popular hiking routes, and one of the more rugged and difficult ones is the one that goes through the mountains near Ma On Shan (702 meters), including Diaoshou Rock (588 meters), Niu Ya Shan (677 meters) and Tai Kam Chung (534 meters). We recently did our usual hike up to Ma On Shan, Ngong Ping Camp (just below 410m), but this time we diverted to go up to Pyramid Hill (536m). It’s a brilliant hike to get views over Sai Kung and the bay! After a total of 8.2–9.5km (not sure with GPS…) you feel very deserving of a lovely meal out in Sai Kung.
