M+ Exhibition: New Exhibition 'I.M. Pei: Life as Architecture'
Impressive architectural landmarks 🤍 give cities their unique character and soul.
Just visited M+ 👉🏻 There's a new exhibition 'I.M. Pei: Life as Architecture'. It's the first major retrospective of the world-renowned contemporary architect I.M. Pei.
The exhibition spans six sections and features over 400 items, including drawings, sketches, videos, models, and photographs, many of which are being shown for the first time. It's definitely worth taking your time to explore!
What fascinated me the most was the glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris, designed by I.M. Pei. At the time 🤍, this groundbreaking design was highly controversial, but after its completion, it gained widespread recognition 💛 and instantly became a world-class architectural icon.
The clever and stylish design! Using a transparent glass pyramid as the main entrance to the Louvre, it connects the ancient with the modern, emitting a captivating glow and holding endless historical significance. The exhibition also showcases how it gained public acceptance despite the initial controversy 👍🏼.
Another highlight is the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong's Central Financial District, which stands tall and majestic. Its exterior resembles bamboo, growing upwards in segments, and is another classic work by I.M. Pei 🫶🏻. When it was completed in 1989, it was the tallest building in Asia. The exhibition features multiple models and floor plans, giving insight into the unique tiered design of the Bank of China Tower.
After the exhibition, don't forget to visit the M+ souvenir shop! The collaborative merchandise for each special exhibition is always stunning. This time, there's a series of phone cases in collaboration with CASETiFY, themed around I.M. Pei's architecture. One of them features the iconic triangular geometric pattern of the Bank of China Tower's exterior, super cool!

Location: M+ West Gallery
Exhibition Dates: 29/6/2024-5/1/2025

[Hong Kong/Kowloon] Recommended sightseeing spots that not many Japanese people know about yet
𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩*⋆✈Hong Kong𓂃 𓈒𓏸Kowloon M+
One of the places I definitely wanted to visit when I went to Hong Kong.
Asia's first global visual culture museum opened in 2021 in the West Kowloon Cultural District overlooking Victoria Harbor.
The collection, which comes from Hong Kong, Greater China, Asia, and the world, is full of creative works that cover visual art, design, architecture, video, and more.
The M+ site area is a whopping 65,000 square meters, which is about 1.4 times the size of the Tokyo Dome. There are 33 galleries and other exhibition spaces, and to be honest, I couldn't see everything 🥹🥹🥹w
In addition to art, there are areas where you can enjoy shopping and dining, and on a sunny day there is a roof garden where you can see the whole of Hong Kong 🥹
If you have time, it seems like it would be nice to spend the whole day relaxing and enjoying it.
Even though there are a lot of people, the site is very large, so it's nice that it's not too crowded 🥹
The building itself, designed by a Swiss architectural unit, is also worth seeing. It was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, who are also known in Japan for designing the interior and exterior of "UNIQLO TOKYO" in Ginza and the "Prada Aoyama Store" in Omotesando.
By the way, the downside to this place is that it's quite difficult to access 😅 Before going, I searched on Google and asked friends who are familiar with the area, so I did my research many times 😂 lol It's hard to find on Google Maps, so I think the easiest way to get there is to go through Kowloon Station and the ELEMENTS shopping mall 🫠🫠𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄𓐄𓐄𓐄𓊆𝑃𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒𓊇 From the official websiteGeneral admission ticket HKD120Special exhibition HKD140𓊆𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒𓊇From the official websiteSaturday to Thursday 10:00-18:00Friday 10:00-22:00︎𓊆𝐴𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠𓊇From the official websiteWest Kowloon Cultural District, 38 Museum Drive, Kowloon, Hong Kong𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄 𓐄

Hong Kong · M+ Yayoi Kusama Exhibition: The Imaginary Space of a 94-Year-Old Artist |
I won't stop living my whole life,
Dedicated to the love for the universe.
·
The Hong Kong Arts Festival is still ongoing. This time, I came to Hong Kong right after recovering from gastroenteritis. After finishing work, I still insisted on wanting to go and see Yayoi Kusama's exhibition. This Japanese artist's works are filled with endless polka dots, which stack up to form an ocean, gradually blurring the existence of real space. For her, these repetitive dots are a unique way for her to communicate with the world, as well as a special medicine for self-healing. She is Yayoi Kusama.
·
This exhibition is very grand. It covers most of Yayoi Kusama's famous works from 1945 to the present. It is a rare large-scale solo exhibition that allows visitors to see the artist's turbulent life through her observations and insights into life, living beings, and the universe.
·
Using its distinctive and high-contrast collision colors and polka dot elements, a large number of paintings, sculptures, and installation art have been created to depict and reconstruct personal understandings of love, art, biology, life, the world, and the universe.
·
Following the curator's train of thought, step by step feel the artist's creative process and the different stages of art, enter the colorful world of the artist, and try to converse with them. It's really too grand and magnificent, and it takes a long time to calm down.
·
Yayoi Kusama's special exhibition will continue until May 14th. Hurry up and go if you want to! There will be a lot of original exhibition items, specially customized printed coffee, and peripheral products.
·
In addition to the exhibition of Grass and Miyabi, the Hikaru Collection Exhibition, and "Dreams of the Museum", there is also "Objects. Space. Interaction", which is also very interesting. Using more than 500 design products to tell the story of design and architecture inside and outside of Asia, including furniture, architecture, graphic design, etc., the purpose is to glimpse into issues related to life from design and architecture.

M+ MUSEUM GAVE ME AN UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT
M+ in West Kowloon Hong Kong is an incredible place to visit if you love having museum tours!
The entire museum has a lot of exhibitions well-curated, either free or you need tickets to see.
I spent half of my day to take a look in the art and installation set here without any issue. Since the space is big, we didn’t have to queue line up.
They also have souvenir store and cafe inside the building. Don’t forget to go to the rooftop and spend your evening see the sunset here!
Would visit again!

Promise me! You must reserve a day to come here when you're in Hong Kong.
This time I went to Hong Kong with Pangsen for a few days.
Visited many places for check-ins.
My favorite is the newly developed West Kowloon Cultural Park.
.
Three years ago, when I came to Hong Kong with Pangsen, it was still under construction.
Now it has been completely renewed.
Here is very close to the W hotel where we are staying.
Cross a pedestrian bridge and you're there!
.
Cultural district gathers multiple museums and venues.
Art lovers have M+, Hong Kong Palace Museum, Free Space, and Xiqu Centre.
You can also come here for a picnic and sunbathe ☀️.
You can take a walk on the coastal boardwalk.
We went there on Saturday.
Many residents come here to camp, walk their dogs, and have picnics 🧺.
Extremely leisurely.
.
Across the park is Victoria Harbour.
It is a holy land for filming 📷.
We took many good photos with a telephoto lens.
Sit here and watch the sunset 🌄 and night view 🌃, it's also great!
Everyone come to Hong Kong, be sure to find time to come here for a stroll.
.

Glorious museum of visual culture in Hong Kong - M+
The M+ building in the West Kowloon Cultural District is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. Located at the southernmost edge of Kowloon overlooking Victoria Harbour, it is among Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks, both monumental in its architectural form and radically open in its position in the urban landscape.
The expansive podium cantilevers above ground and includes 17,000 square metres of exhibition space across galleries, cinema houses, the Mediatheque, Learning Hub, and Roof Garden that faces Victoria Harbour.
Hope you like this post if you found this useful. Cheers :)

Bloodline Big Family in M+
Location: M Plus Museum
M+ Museum is located in west kowloon cultural district, you can see a big “Tao” hanging, the lobby is so spacious and you can see the pumpkin figures of Yayoi Kusama
I like the acrylic on canvas painting of Chasm Forever by Hon Chi-fun. Big Blue Circle is so eye catching. A circle can be many things. The artist think it is a potent symbol of eternity and perfection. It embodies something as vast as the universe or as intimate as our own bodies.
And my favorite painting is surely Bloodline - Big Family No. 17, lovely family. Zhang Xiaogang took his family photographs as a source of inspiration. This image represents a family portrait before the economic reform in China. The family wearing grey outfits, which tells a period of conformity, the four individuals are connected by a red line, every time i come this one become my very one favorite haa, looking at their staring eyes, and you can easily tell they are one family haa, i love the baby girl, their faces are so united
Besides, i love the panda series, so many metaphors, funny and creative, and having my favorite panda definitely recommended yaya
Though I’d say only several paintings are super cool, the art pieces are generally just ok for me lol, spending time for several great pieces is great haa

Afternoon tea with amazing view on your side
The cafe (ADD+) is located at B1/F, inside the M+ building (outside the gallery area).
Came around 3 PM, and need to wait in queue for a while (although when we went inside the restaurant it is not full capacity yet).
Got the place next to window, so we can see the beautiful west Kowloon cultural district outside. They have western as well as Chinese food on their menu.
Ordered double boiled fish maw soup and Hawaiian pizza to enjoy the nice afternoon inside the cafe.

【Hong Kong Museum Recommendation】M+ Visual Culture Museum | Minimalist Industrial Style and Top-notch Check-in Spot. A visually stunning art journey. 💫
M+ is a visual culture museum and one of the world's largest modern and contemporary visual culture museums. Located in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Kowloon, it opened on November 11, 2021. It collects and displays visual arts, designs, architecture, and moving images from Hong Kong, mainland China, Asia, and around the world from the 20th and 21st centuries!
The exterior design of the M+ museum is a simple industrial style, with gray and metallic silver as the main tone and many wooden furnishings. It is visually pleasing and has a simple yet artistic feel. With the view of Victoria Harbour facing the West Kowloon Cultural District, both inside and around the museum offer great photo opportunities.
📷 Photo spot 1: M+ logo When visiting M+, of course, you have to take a photo in front of the M+ logo - this is also the location where most people take their first photos! In fact, there are two locations outside the museum with the M+ logo, not just at the main entrance, but also at the other entrance/exit. Just walk around the outside of the museum to find it!
📷 Photo spot 2: Gray three-dimensional wall There is a large gray three-dimensional wall on the side of M+ with several rows of connected long benches in front of it. Many people sit here to relax and unwind! The gray three-dimensional wall is a great photo spot, giving a simple yet extraordinary feeling.
📷 Photo spot 3: Glass exterior wall reflecting Victoria Harbour view M+ museum faces the Victoria Harbour view of the Hong Kong Island. Walking around the museum, you can admire the stunning Victoria Harbour view from afar!
📷 Photo spot 4: The spiral staircase on the 2nd floor The spiral staircase is located in the lobby on the 2nd floor and is an architectural landmark of Herzog & de Meuron, a Swiss architectural firm. It has a Northern European architectural style. This is also a popular photo spot in the M+ museum, and when it is busy, everyone will queue up!
Note: The spiral staircase is only for decoration, and the upper floors were closed.
📷 Photo spot 5: Colorful sun wall outside the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor This is my favorite photo spot! Seeing the colorful sun gives a positive and energetic feeling!
📷 Photo spot 6: Gray three-dimensional grid on the rooftop garden on the 3rd floor This is my second favorite photo spot. It feels like being in a sketch! When I was studying design, I used to draw some three-dimensional squares. Now I can immerse myself in the drawing. XD
📷 Photo spot 7: Sea view staircase location
As a visual culture museum, M+ naturally has many visually impactful artworks!
For me, the most visually impactful are colors, lines, and shapes. I like the feeling of a complex design with a neat structure!
Some people may find visiting museums boring, while others find it interesting. It depends on personal preferences, so just stay longer if you like it!
📍M+ (M Plus Museum) Address: 38 Museum Drive, West Kowloon Cultural District, Kowloon, Hong Kong Transportation: Take the MTR to Kowloon Station (towards the West Kowloon Cultural District) and walk for about 10 minutes to reach the museum.
Note: Backpacks are not allowed inside the exhibition hall and need to be stored for free.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday, weekends, and public holidays 10:00-18:00/ Friday 10:00-22:00/ Closed on Monday

Immersive Artistry at M+: Exploring Yayoi Kusama and More
Our visit to M+ and the exhibition "Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now" was a breathtaking journey through the artistic evolution of a visionary. From the artist's early works to her most recent creations, the exhibition offered a mesmerizing glimpse into Yayoi Kusama's world, allowing us to witness the progression of her artistry over the years.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was the interactive aspects that provided a deeper insight into the artist's creative process and frame of mind. Engaging with these interactive elements enhanced our understanding of Kusama's unique vision and artistic journey, making the experience all the more enriching.
Beyond the Yayoi Kusama exhibition, M+ itself is a gem of an art museum, offering a diverse range of exhibitions that cater to various tastes and interests. There are two immersive installations that echo each other.

The artist wants to metaphorically compare life to the fleeting nature of bubbles.
The other installation combines fog rings with screens,
giving a blurred and fantastical feeling.
