Luohou Temple, located in the Wutai Mountain Scenic Area in Taihuai Town, Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, is the earliest dissemination center of Esoteric Buddhism, and one of the ten major yellow temples and five major Zen places in Wutai Mountain. Luohou Temple was established in the Tang Dynasty, rebuilt in the fifth year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty (1492), and was renovated many times in the Qing Dynasty. Luohou Temple covers an area of more than 15,000 square meters, with 18 rooms including the mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the bell and drum tower, the Wenshu Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the side hall, the rear hall, the scripture storage hall, the hall building, and the corridor. The pair of stone lions in front of the mountain gate are Tang Dynasty stone carvings of lying lions.
