As the lake is quite expansive, we grew tired, and eventually, the boat master took over, guiding us back to shore. Hiking around Lugu Lake

My first time hiking at high evelations. It took me three half-days to complete the hike around Lugu Lake. On day 1 I hiked from Daluoshui village to Lige. I wouldn’t consider that part of the trail idea for hiking since it was mostly car roads but the views were indeed breathtaking. After finding my rhythm and getting used to high elevations, I decided to go for a moderate challenge on day 2 hiking towards Nvshenwan. Despite the fact that I started the hike late morning and had to stop from time to time to take in the incredible natural landscape, I managed to reach my destination before sunset and settled myself into an inn. The inn owner was such an interesting and knowledgeable person that I learned so much about the Mosuo culture from him. We spent the entire evening sitting around the fireplace conversing on a wide variety of topics. I finished around 65km of my trip around the lake with a bit of hitchhiking on the last day. Lugu Lake (泸沽湖） it was a far way to arrive there from Lijiang ancient town. I only remembered I was sleeping all way through, but every time I woke up, we hadn’t arrived🥲 climbed 5 mountains, took 4 hours, we finally arrived Lugu Lake! Pic 1️⃣ on the way to Lugu Lake, we can see Jinsha River(金沙江). Love this turquoise green! Pic 2️⃣-3️⃣ Lugu Lake viewing platform. There was super crowded, I went on the workdays, couldn’t imagine if it is in weekends or holiday... but the most disappointing thing is, there’s a row of trees blocking the view! Very difficult to shoot nice pictures there. So if you are driving on this trip, wouldn’t recommend you to go there to see the view. You can definitely stop by somewhere to get the better views. Water is very clean and clear, many birds were following us for food Pic 6️⃣ Beach of Lugu Lake, in the morning Pic 7️⃣ another side of the Lake. ⚠️ warning if you want to stay in the hotel near by the Lake, it is not necessary to book the Lake view rooms. You won’t get a nice view from room, pointless to waste money.
