-
2️⃣ Cangqiao Direct Street: Walking on the stone road and watching the black-covered boats coming and going on the lake, isn't this Jiangnan Water Town?
-
3️⃣ Jiemin Library: Liu Shishi's same style photo machine position, it's very quiet and very photogenic.

5️⃣ East Lake: One of the must-visit attractions in Shaoxing, the black cliffs on the East Lake are like ink paintings, very suitable for shooting ancient styles.
-
6️⃣ Angsang Lake: Far away from the city center and close to Shaoxing North Station, the ancient towpath connecting the two banks is very distinctive. It can only be photographed with a drone, so it is not recommended to go there specially.
-
💡 Travel tips:
1️⃣ Shaoxing's attractions are relatively concentrated, and the first day's itinerary can basically be citywalk...
2️⃣ You can try Shaoxing's rice wine milk tea/coffee/ice cream, stinky tofu, which are very local.
3️⃣ Most of the old city areas of Shaoxing are guesthouses without elevators, which are not suitable for friends with luggage.

Compared to Suzhou and Hangzhou, Shaoxing is the true Jiangnan in my heart|||
|||。Shaoxing: The True Jiangnan Secret Realm in My Heart🍃
When mentioning Jiangnan, people often say "Above there is Suzhou and Hangzhou, below there is heaven." However, in my heart, the purest Jiangnan charm is quietly hidden in the low-key and gentle Shaoxing.🌸
Shaoxing, an ancient city with white walls and black tiles, paved with stone slabs, with small bridges and flowing water around people's homes, is like a flowing ink painting, fulfilling all my longings and fantasies about Jiangnan.🏞️ The scenery and culture here are extraordinary in every corner, making people intoxicated and lost.
Three Days and Two Nights, Deep Tour of Shaoxing📅
Day 1: Market Fireworks, Ancient City Stroll👣
Bazhi Bridge: An ancient bridge from the Southern Song Dynasty, with two bridges lying diagonally, forming the shape of the character "八" (eight), where the traces of history quietly flow.

Jiemin Library: A library like an ink painting of mountains and waters, quiet and elegant, a haven for the soul.
Hometown of Wang Yangming, West Alley: Small bridges and flowing water with few disturbances, retaining the purest Jiangnan charm.
Fushan Park: Climbing high and looking far, the beautiful scenery of West Alley is in full view, as if stepping into a real version of the Hundred Views of Jiangnan.
Cangqiao Straight Street: Full of market atmosphere, with a variety of snacks and teahouses, it is a great place to experience the authentic life of Shaoxing.
Qingteng Study: The former residence of the Ming Dynasty talent Xu Wei, with small bridges and flowing water, pomegranate flowers in bloom, and extraordinary elegance.
Hometown of Lu Xun: Visiting the hometown of the literary giant and feeling the world described in his writings.
Day 2: Lakes and Mountains, Natural Beauty🏞️
Lanting: The birthplace of Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Orchid Pavilion", with flowing water and the old site of Tianzhang Temple, showing the elegance of literati.
East Lake: The rare beauty of cliffs in Jiangnan, a filming location for Journey to the West, making people marvel.
Shen Garden (Night Tour): Shen Garden under the night, with a unique flavor, is an excellent place for couples to date.

Compared to Suzhou and Hangzhou, I love this low-key dream Jiangnan more~|||
|||。Indulge in Shaoxing, that unknown tenderness of Jiangnan~|||Shaoxing, a water town in Jiangnan that captivates the soul, its charm is more restrained and profound than Suzhou and Hangzhou. The longing after parting is like aged wine, becoming more mellow over time.
Strolling through it, the ancient simplicity and elegance are revealed between the blue bricks and black tiles. The whispers of history echo in the old streets and alleys. The boat gently sways, the water remains calm, and a series of cold yet gentle Jiangnan paintings slowly unfold before your eyes.
Dreaming back to the era of Lu Xun: From the childhood fun of Baicao Garden to the tranquility of Sanwei Study, I seem to travel back to the scenes described by the master, feeling the Jiangnan sentiment of spring. Walking on the mottled stone road, holding a handful of fennel beans, sipping a bit of Shaoxing old wine, the leisure and romance of the city slowly flow between the lips and teeth.
📅Shaoxing Deep Tour·2 Days 1 Night Selected Route:
Day 1: Explore the ancient charm journey —— The tranquility of Cangqiao Straight Street, the cultural imprint of Lu Xun's hometown, the gentleness of Shen Garden, the simplicity of Bazi Bridge, and the scholarly fragrance of the hometown of the Book Sage.
Day 2: The perfect blend of nature and ancient towns —— The magnificence of East Lake, the tranquility of Angsang Lake, and the lively atmosphere of Anchang Ancient Town, bringing a perfect end to the journey.
🌈Five Must-Visit Secret Places in Shaoxing:
Lu Xun's Hometown: Follow in the footsteps of the literary giant, exploring his childhood paradise and the hall of knowledge.
East Lake: A filming location for Journey to the West, where cliffs and black awning boats together paint a poetic picture of Jiangnan.
Hometown of the Book Sage: The hometown of Wang Xizhi and Cai Yuanpei, every inch of land is soaked with cultural fragrance.
Anchang Ancient Town: A free-entry ancient town with the aroma of cured meat and a strong sense of life, adding a touch of reality and warmth compared to Wuzhen.
Cangqiao Straight Street: A microcosm of water town style, with blue stone roads and black awning boats, where the smoke of life and poetry coexist.
🏨Accommodation Recommendation: Around Lu Xun's Hometown, convenient access to various attractions, enjoying the convenience and comfort of Shaoxing.
🚗Travel Tips: For the remote Angsang Lake and Anchang Ancient Town, it is recommended to use Hello Hitch, which is economical and environmentally friendly. If you are worried about motion sickness, you can choose the oil car service for a worry-free journey. Special reminder, use the cancellation protection service to add a sense of security to your trip.

Shaoxing Travel Guide | 2 Days and 1 Night, Budget Travel! Not Tiring! (With Tips)
Everyone can choose a weekend to travel to Shaoxing, 2 days and 1 night is enough~
My itinerary is not tiring, and it's budget-friendly, sharing it here for everyone's reference
-
DAY 1️⃣: Xishang Photo Shoot - East Lake - Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown
DAY 2️⃣: Lu Xun's Hometown - Cangqiao Straight Street - Yellow Wine Ancient Town
-
🌟Xishang
Ticket: 0💰. Actually, I chose to go to Shaoxing just to take photos in Xishang. If you want to take good pictures, you can come here, but if you're just looking to enjoy the scenery, there's no need, you might be disappointed. Bamboo raft photo shoot costs 150💰 for about 1h. Xishang is far from the city center, it's convenient to take a taxi or drive yourself, just search for 'Xishang Renjia' to reach the shooting location. I took a rideshare from Shaoxing North to Xishang for 50r.
🌟East Lake
Ticket: Scenic area 50r, Black-awning boat 35r
Route: The black-awning boat has Line A and Line B, almost the same route, just one is round-trip, the other is one-way. If the queue is too long, you can skip the boat! Just walk to the middle of the scenic area and take pictures at the Fairy Peach Cave, it's worth it.
🌟Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown and Cangqiao Straight Street
Ticket: 0💰, you can choose one of these two attractions, the scenery and food inside are almost the same, if you want to take photos, you can go to the Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown, where you can find Wang Xizhi's calligraphy.
🌟 Lu Xun's Hometown
Ticket: 0💰
Remember to book online in advance if you go during holidays or summer vacation, otherwise, you won't be able to get in. I regret that I didn't manage to book even 2 days in advance, so I just wandered around the entrance.
🌟Yellow Wine Ancient Town
Ticket: 0💰, directly accessible by Metro Line 1
A town overlooked by Shaoxing locals, it's great for an evening visit! There's no need to come during the day, but at night there are many performances, and this town is not commercialized, really comfortable and relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
-
🌟Accommodation: I chose a place near the city square, convenient for traveling to various attractions by subway.
🌟Food: You can try stinky tofu, yellow wine popsicles (don't buy if over 5r! I was ripped off in the scenic area and bought one for 10r), yellow wine milk tea; smoked meats and cream small bread are optional. Also, the local delicacy 'Shao San Xian' was a rip-off for me, I ate near the scenic spot, 68r and not authentic, very sad.
-
If anyone has any questions, feel free to leave a message. I will patiently answer what I know, hoping to save everyone some trouble. ✌️

Compared to Suzhou and Hangzhou, I have a deeper affection for this understated dreamland of Jiangnan
Compared to Suzhou and Hangzhou, I have a deeper affection for this understated dreamland of Jiangnan.
The first time I visited Shaoxing, I experienced a different kind of Jiangnan with its green tiles, small bridges over flowing water, and slow-moving black-awning boats. It doesn't have the fame of Hangzhou or Suzhou, but it has more cultural history and the essence of everyday life, preserving a quiet and methodical daily routine. I truly feel this place is more suitable for leisure and relaxation.
Recommended Itinerary
Day1: Cangqiao Straight Street, Lu Xun's Hometown, Bazi Bridge, the Hometown of the Sage of Calligraphy, and Lanting

❷Angsan Lake: Walking on this delicate ancient path, enjoying the breeze and a chat, is very relaxing~

❺Anchang Ancient Town: A free ancient town full of life, with streets full of soy sauce ducks, cured sausages, and printed cakes, giving a feeling of the New Year.

From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Study Room!
Since middle school, I have been deeply attracted by the scenes described by Mr. Lu Xun in "From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Study Room." This time in Shaoxing, I finally saw Mr. Lu Xun's ancestral residence, former residence, Baicao Garden, and Sanwei Study Room with my own eyes. It was as if the childhood fun and reading sounds of the past were right in front of me. I tasted Kong Yiji's fennel beans and dined at Xianheng Hotel. Mr. Lu Xun single-handedly boosted Shaoxing's tourism industry. This is the charm of a great literary and ideological master.

Shaoxing--Huzhou--Hangzhou
Special forces travel, sweating like rain, Zhejiang weather is too hot.
Shaoxing: Ciwu noodles are not tasty, maybe I'm not used to it. Went to Angsang Lake, Shusheng's Hometown, Lu Xun's Hometown, Cangqiao Straight Street, Shen Garden, Xu Wei Art Museum.
Huzhou: Got off at the high-speed rail station and went straight to Fisherman's Wharf. Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy, and the scenery was not good. Then on the way back, went to Yishang Street, which is a street full of snacks. In the evening, went to Xiaoxi Street, which had few people and I didn't find it interesting. Nanxun Ancient Town.
Hangzhou: Took the high-speed rail to Hangzhou West, first went to Hangzhou Botanical Garden, Faxi Temple, and West Lake. I toured West Lake starting from the west side, Yang Gong Causeway, and then went to Hubin IN77 for a meal.

You won't regret coming, but you will definitely regret leaving, the water town of Shaoxing in the south of the Yangtze River
Shaoxing 7 Zhejiang
🌟 Highlights:
When visiting Zhejiang, I was amazed by Shaoxing - with its small bridges over flowing water, black tiles and white walls, free from the noise of the city and excessive commercialization. Especially on rainy days, Shaoxing is as beautiful as a misty rain painting.
Regret only going to Shaoxing, this low-key water town in the south of the Yangtze River is a must-visit in my heart❗️

The birthplace of Wang Xizhi's 'Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion', with the beautiful Goose Pond 🪿, Tianzhang Temple, and the winding stream... A beautiful view at every step, making you not want to leave.
2️⃣ Lu Xun's Hometown
Lu Xun's hometown could guarantee Shaoxing a lifetime of glory and wealth🤣 The Hundred Grass Garden and Sanwei Study are childhood memories.

Compared to the crowded Cangqiao Straight Street, I recommend the original West Xiaolu, which also has a super beautiful heart-shaped tree🌳
4️⃣ Yangming's Hometown
The hometown of Wang Yangming, arguably the most beautiful architecture in Shaoxing, with a strong Chinese aesthetic.
5️⃣ Anchang Ancient Town
One of the four great ancient towns of Shaoxing, the two-kilometer old street is built along the river, and it's very pleasant to walk on the small bridges🌊

🍶 Saying goodbye to Shaoxing, the reluctance is like aged wine, becoming richer with each taste. The ancient streets and mottled stone bridges seem to whisper the passage of time, bringing the tenderness and sweetness of Jiangnan vividly before my eyes.
📚 Wandering through the words of Mr. Lu Xun, the vibrant life of the Hundred Grass Garden and the tranquil bookish air of the Sanwei Bookstore together sketch vivid springtime scenes. Picking up a few fennel beans, sipping authentic Shaoxing rice wine, the leisure of life and the breath of literature flow between the lips, intoxicating.

With a heart as vast as mountains and seas, serene and uncompetitive, greetings to you, Shaoxing
Zhejiang, Shaoxing, is a city with a history of 2,500 years, tracing back to the ancient state of Yue. Renowned names such as Goujian, Fan Li, and Xi Shi, and their well-known stories have been quietly passed down through the ages. Here, taking a boat might be more convenient than driving, as one glance at Jiangnan reveals a landscape filled with small bridges over flowing water and households...

After traveling for 5 years, I've been to Shaoxing 7 times and my heart still flutters
In the 5th year of traveling, I visited Shaoxing 7 times, averaging once or twice a year. I love the Jiangnan region, but I love Shaoxing even more.
I've always been fond of Jiangnan since I was young, and as soon as I grew up and could travel on my own, I went to Jiangnan countless times, but it was always Hangzhou and Suzhou, never Shaoxing.
It wasn't until the autumn of 2017, while sitting on the high-speed train from Yiwu to Hangzhou, that I passed by a city with pink walls, black tiles, and small bridges over flowing water, which struck my heart. I quickly took out my phone to check the map - where was this place? The map showed it was Shaoxing. From that moment on, the initial image of Shaoxing took root in my heart.
Three months later, I made a special trip to Shaoxing. As the year was drawing to a close, the winter in Shaoxing was misty with drizzling rain. Walking on the stone-paved roads with an umbrella, looking at the old residential buildings on both sides of the river, I felt a warm and familiar sensation, as if I had been there before. Ah, this is the Jiangnan in my heart. I had been searching for Jiangnan in Hangzhou and Suzhou, not realizing that the real Jiangnan was in Shaoxing.
Pushing open the wooden door of the homestay I had booked in advance, the decoration of the old Shaoxing residence greeted me. The flower and pot on the table, the dim light... I seemed to have walked into the old times of Shaoxing. Holding a pot of warm, fine Shaoxing yellow wine given by the owner, I took a sip. It warmed my heart and stomach, and my first date with Shaoxing began amidst this tender warmth.
For the first time, I visited Shen Garden, exploring the love story of Lu You and Tang Wan. During my studies, I had shed tears over their love and hate several times. Now, walking among the grass and trees of Shen Garden, I imagined their feelings and appearances back then.
For the first time, I visited the former residence of Lu Xun, the Sanwei Study. Finally, I arrived at the master's hometown. It was so beautiful. Although Lu Xun's writing was powerful, his family home was so gentle and graceful.
For the first time, I visited Kong Yiji's tavern, chewing on fennel beans and revisiting Kong Yiji's articles, imagining the scenes of that time, and feeling deeply moved. For the first time, I visited the Orchid Pavilion, seeing where Wang Xizhi wrote the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion. Reading the Preface inscribed on the Orchid Pavilion stele, although I had read it countless times, this time was different. The artistic conception was profound.
For the first time, I visited the ancient town of Anchang. The festive atmosphere of the town amazed me. Rows of cured meat, soy sauce ducks, and the extended market along the river with a dazzling array of New Year goods suddenly brought back the atmosphere of celebrating the New Year in my childhood. It was wonderful.
For the first time, I tasted Shaoxing cuisine and couldn't stop ever since. Endless nostalgia, my favorites are drunken chicken, drunken shrimp, and 'Shaoxing Three Delicacies.' I eat them every time I go. I love Shaoxing cuisine so much, the aftertaste lingers.
For the first time, I tasted Shaoxing's pastries, sticky and sweet, with a rich variety. Truly a paradise for heavy sticky food lovers.
For the first time, I tasted Shaoxing's yellow wine popsicle, only then realizing that popsicles could be spiked with alcohol. The taste was incredibly unique, quite intoxicating.
For the first time, I took a ride on Shaoxing's black-awning boat, slowly swaying between the rivers, watching the black and white old buildings on both sides, immersed in the misty rain of Jiangnan, romantic feelings surged, making one unable to resist expressing them in words.
For the first time, I walked through Shaoxing's old alleys, seeing the coal stoves outside the pink-walled and black-tiled old houses, watching the old grandmother washing clothes in the river, observing the handwritten signs of the yellow wine shops, and the time-honored pastry shops. This is the lively atmosphere of old Shaoxing, seeping into one's heart.
For the first time, wearing a cheongsam and holding an oil-paper umbrella, I took my first set of retro photos on the old alley's bluestone road, which reminded me of Dai Wangshu's 'Rain Alley' and the girl with the oil-paper umbrella.
Shaoxing encapsulates the scenery of Jiangnan, the misty rain of Jiangnan, the poetic charm of Jiangnan, the grace of Jiangnan, the small bridges and flowing waters of Jiangnan, the stories of Jiangnan.
Once I came here, I could never let go of Shaoxing. Until the 7th visit, my feelings for Shaoxing remained as before, as fresh, curious, and affectionate as the first time I stepped into Shaoxing. The 7 times are not the point, I will come again~

Over the past few years, I have visited many ancient towns, but it was not until I arrived in Shaoxing that I realized~~
This is exactly the Jiangnan style I've been longing for.
Here, there is no strong commercial atmosphere.
Instead, there is more of a cultural history and the warmth of everyday life. Everywhere you look, there are grey bricks and black tiles, small bridges over flowing water, and every sight is filled with beauty and comfort. I really want to stay here for a month~
