[2025 Shaoxing Attraction] Travel Guide for Lu Town (Updated Feb)

On the second day in Shaoxing, we went on a half-day tour of Keyan Scenic Area, Jianhu Lake, and Luzhen. The beautiful scenery, boat ride, and Luzhen Shexi Opera were all so fulfilling, rich, and relaxing. We arrived at the scenic area at 9:30 am and visited Keyan Scenic Area, Jianhu Lake, and Luzhen in order. We booked tickets for the Luzhen Shexi Opera at 1 pm. The show ended at around 2 pm, and we left the scenic area at 3 pm. If you are interested, you can continue to explore the side routes. If you are satisfied, you can take the opportunity to visit Donghu Lake or Shen Garden. Adult ticket: CNY 158; CNY 128 for people aged 60–70; CNY 108 for people aged 70 and above. If you don't watch the Shexi Opera, people aged 70 and above can enter for free. Shaoxing is very generous. The Luzhen Shexi Opera is worth watching, and the ticket is worth recommending. I can write another article about it. Keyan Scenic Area is a quarry site with an exhibition of cultural relics and artificial assistance, which is very interesting and amazing. I am still amazed by the technology, ingenuity, and aesthetics of a thousand years ago. The Tian Gong Stone Buddha and the Yizhu Shutian are the highlights. The ancient path on the lake is like a ladder to the sky, which is beautiful. Looking back at the stone path from the boat, I suddenly realized that it looked dangerous from a distance, but it was just an ordinary path. Interesting.

Strolling along the river, the black awning boat glides slowly in the water, the oars gently stirring, breaking the calm of the water surface, creating ripples. Xianglin Sao may have once stood on such a shore, with empty and sad eyes, telling her misfortune. And on the stage of the community opera, the laughter of children seems to still echo, and Ah Q is here, using his "spiritual victory method" to perform a unique farce on the stage of life. Luzhen is not just a scenic spot, but a three-dimensional history book. Here, history is no longer cold words, but vivid scenes, lively characters, and rich life atmosphere. Lu Town is located on the left side of the Keyan Scenic Area in Shaoxing County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. It is a tourist spot within the Keyan Scenic Area's Pama Park, covering an area of 150 mu with a building area of 30,000 square meters. In fact, there is no town called Lu Town in the history of Shaoxing. It is an artistic summary created by Lu Xun, combining several water towns such as Dongpu, Fanjing, Dongguan, Huangpu Village, and Anqiaotou. This is the water town that appears in Lu Xun's novels, existing in Lu Xun's heart and through his novels, it continues to exist in the hearts of millions of readers. Lu Town is frequently mentioned in Lu Xun's work 'Kong Yiji'. It was created to mimic that town.

Lu Town is part of the Ke Yan Scenic Area. It combines natural scenery and folk customs. Based on the description of "Hometown" by Mr. Lu Xun, the bluestone streets, riverside shops, simple terraces, and flying eaves of the social theater stage, etc., show a strong traditional Shaoxing cultural characteristics. The social theater stage in Lu Town is double-sided, one side faces the square, and the other side faces the water, because the villagers in the past water towns all came to watch the social theater by rowing a awning boat. Now the theater stage also regularly performs Shao opera and Yue opera for the audience.

Luxun and Luxun Town in Shaoxing have a deep relationship. "Luxun Town" is a fictional place name that frequently appears in Luxun's novels, such as "Blessing", "Kong Yiji", "Social Drama" and other novels. Luxun vividly depicted the local customs and social reality of Shaoxing Water Town through "Luxun Town", reflecting his nostalgia for his hometown Shaoxing. Although "Luxun Town" does not exist in reality, Keqiao District of Shaoxing has built a rural town theme park named "Luxun Town" in Keyan Scenic Area according to the description of Luxun. This theme park is based on Luxun culture and restores the folk customs, architectural charm and characters of "Luxun Town" in Luxun's writings. Walking on the slate road, with ancient houses on both sides and small bridges and flowing water around, it seems to be in a light ink painting. It is not only the town in the writings of the literary master Luxun, but also the ideal place for people in the real world to pursue tranquility and beauty.

Although Keyan and the nearby Luzhen have a lot of artificial elements, compared to other bustling ancient towns, this place is really tranquil. This time we stayed at the Radisson Yi Man Hotel. 🧹Soundproofing/Hygiene: Although the hotel is not large, the hygiene and soundproofing are impeccable. 🏘️️️Room Type/Layout: Courtyard room with a large yard, right next to Jianhu Lake. Today's "Lu Town" is a rural-themed park in the Keqiao Scenic Area of Shaoxing, meticulously restored based on Lu Xun's descriptions. Here, one can find the folk customs and architectural charm of old Shaoxing town, as well as natural landscapes. Stepping into Lu Town is like traveling through time and space, back to the old Shaoxing filled with charm. The streets of the ancient town are lined with neatly arranged ancient dwellings with white walls and black tiles, bustling shops by the river, and serene and solemn temples with curling incense smoke. Stone arch bridges come in a thousand shapes, stone-paved roads are quaint, and deep water alleys crisscross. Here, Shaoxing's bridge culture, stone culture, water culture, wine culture, and culture of notable figures intertwine, forming beautiful pictures. Locations from Lu Xun's novels, such as the Lu Family Ancestral Hall, Kuiwen Pavilion, Jingxiu Nunnery, and Tugu Temple, have also been carefully restored and presented. Shaoxing Keqiao District Keyan Scenic Area Luzhen Situated by the Jianhu Lake in Shaoxing, 'Fengyi Yuejianli' is a Chinese aesthetic hotel that integrates the traditional aesthetics of Jiangnan residential architecture. It is surrounded by famous attractions such as the Oriental Landscape Paradise, Jianhu Scenic Area, and Keqiao Ancient Town. Today we celebrated Lantern Festival in advance, just got back from a trip to Shaoxing with my parents and 🐶 Peach. I didn't expect the tour route we chose to be so much fun!
