🍂 Longxing Temple is beautiful in autumn. In addition to the ancient buildings, there are several tall ginkgo trees in the temple, some of which are hundreds of years old. The golden leaves complement the temple. There are also many bougainvillea flowers in full bloom. The environment is very beautiful and worth recommending.
🏯 The temple has the tallest pagoda in Asia, which is composed of a main pagoda and four auxiliary pagodas. The main pagoda is 81 meters high, and the auxiliary pagodas are 27 meters high. The style is modeled after the Kolkata Pagoda in India. It is one of the 19 existing pagodas in China and one of the oldest pagodas in China. The pagoda collapsed after years of disrepair, and the current pagoda was rebuilt in the early 1990s. You can climb the pagoda and overlook the entire Pengzhou scenery.

The Beauty of Architecture: Unveiling the Unique Charm of Longxing Zen Temple.
Longxing Zen Temple is a historic Buddhist temple located at the north gate of Chengguan, Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province. It was first built in the third year of Xiankang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (337 AD) and was originally named "Dakong Temple". In the second year of Yongding in the Liang Dynasty (558 AD), Master Zhigong expanded the temple. In the second year of Tianshou in the Wu Zetian period (619 AD), the temple was renamed "Dayun Temple". In the sixth year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Xuanzong period (718 AD), the temple was officially named "Longxing Temple".
Longxing Temple has experienced many ups and downs throughout history. In the fifth year of Huichang in the Tang Wuzong period (845 AD), the temple was abandoned, but in the following year after Wuzong's death, Xuanzong succeeded to the throne, and in the second year of Dazhong (848 AD), Master Yuzhi rebuilt Longxing Temple. By the 1940s, Longxing Temple covered more than 80 acres, with four main halls including the Heavenly King Hall, the Three Great Masters Hall, the Great Buddha Hall, and the Sutra Tower, and many side halls. The temple was surrounded by red walls, with towering artificial hills and ancient trees behind it. The layout was regular and reasonable, the style was simple, the corridors were connected, and it was exquisitely elegant.
Longxing Temple is not only a religious holy land, but also a famous revolutionary memorial site. In the late period of the domestic liberation war in 1949, senior generals from Sichuan and Kang provinces held a meeting in the Sutra Tower of Longxing Temple, declared a peaceful uprising and telegraphed the whole country, avoiding large-scale wars and casualties. During this period, the monks of Longxing Temple provided important logistical support.
The temple houses precious cultural relics such as the jade Buddha presented by the King of Myanmar at the end of the Qing Dynasty, the relics and "Baiye Sutra" presented by the King of India, and the Tripitaka presented by Japan. The most precious of these is the Relic Pagoda, which is located in the front of the temple and is one of the 19 existing real relic pagodas in China.
The Relic Pagoda of Longxing Temple was first built in the second year of Yixi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (406 AD). It was originally a wooden structure pagoda built by the Indian monk Tanmojueyi. It was rebuilt into a secret eaves brick structure pagoda during the Five Dynasties by Master Yuzhi. The pagoda is square, with 17 secret eaves and a height of 35 meters. All 68 corners are hung with horseshoe bells. It is one of the oldest pagodas in China.
In addition, the architectural complex of Longxing Temple integrates the architectural styles of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. It is one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved temples in Hunan Province. The buildings in the temple are nail-free and rivet-free, reflecting the architectural structure of the Tang Dynasty, and also leaving traces of the Song and Ming Dynasties.

Longxing Temple | A thousand-year-old temple worth visiting near Chengdu.
🔶Longxing Temple was built in the third year of Xiankang (33 AD) during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It was originally named "Dakuong Temple", renamed "Dayun Temple" by Wu Zetian, and given the name "Longxing Temple" by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang.
🔶The most precious treasure in Longxing Temple is the stupa containing the Buddha's relics, located directly in front of the temple. It is one of the 19 existing stupas containing the Buddha's true body relics in China.

The top of the pagoda offers a panoramic view of Pengzhou and different perspectives. Inside the pagoda, there are many Buddha statues and scriptures, which are exquisite and solemn. It is not recommended to bring children, as they may be scared.

There are many halls around the pagoda, with exquisite architecture. A wide-angle shot of the pagoda from bottom to top is very impressive.

Just an hour's journey from Chengdu, in Pengzhou, lies an exquisitely beautiful ancient temple. Initially, my visit was motivated by the stupa within the temple, but to my surprise, I was greeted by a vast expanse of bougainvillea, cascading down like a waterfall, providing a truly picturesque scene.
In addition to the bougainvillea, the hydrangeas in the garden were also in full bloom, albeit in lesser numbers.
The temple also houses an awe-inspiring relic stupa, one of the 19 existing Buddha relic stupas in 🇨🇳 China. With its 17 levels, it is truly a spectacular sight!
Unlike typical temples, the walls of Longxing Temple are yellow, and coupled with the architecture of the stupa, it gives the entire ancient temple an exotic charm.

Little did I expect to discover such an exotic ancient temple hidden in Pengzhou. The Longxing Temple Stupa, constructed in 1997, is an awe-inspiring architectural marvel. The main tower stands at a height of 81 meters, spanning 17 floors. One can ascend to the top of the main tower and enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Pengzhou city.
The entire temple exudes a Southeast Asian ambiance, as if one has stepped into a different world. The orange walls make for stunning photographs, and I'm certain that a vacation-style outfit would enhance the aesthetic appeal of the photos! I happened to visit the temple on a whim and didn't dress up for the occasion. I truly wish to revisit this place, oh how I yearn for it!
Many people come here to light incense and pray for blessings, and it is said to be quite efficacious.
There are numerous local eateries nearby, with the steamed beef being particularly delectable. I've visited several times and every choice has been a delightful surprise.

The Longxing Temple in the center of Pengzhou has a Southeast Asian style. You can take photos and play inside, and climbing the tower offers a view of Pengzhou's urban area. There's a large teahouse in the temple, and when the sun is out, locals like to come here for tea and chat.
Gexian Mountain is a recommended attraction this season, with many farm stays and a profusion of flowers blooming in the mountains, including beautiful pear blossoms, peach blossoms, and rapeseed flowers.

The main pagoda of Longxing is 81 meters high, with an interior chamber exhibiting the transformational deeds of Shakyamuni Buddha and Buddhist paintings and calligraphy. The walls are decorated with relief sculptures of Buddha, and a double staircase leads directly to the 64-meter-high platform at the top of the pagoda. After climbing step by step to the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Pengzhou city area.
2. Experience the slow life. The slow life of Chengdu people can be seen everywhere, with groups of people sitting around tables, drinking tea, playing cards, and chatting. Outside the temple, there is a constant stream of people and traffic, while inside, the air is filled with incense smoke and the sound of chanting. Visitors quietly offer incense and pray to Buddha, while locals sit around drinking tea and chatting. A table, a rattan chair, and a bowl of covered-bowl tea are the standard setup for the slow life of Chengdu people.
Tickets: Longxing Temple is open for free. Climbing the Shakyamuni real body relic pagoda requires a ticket of 20 yuan, and only cash in RMB is accepted. No online reservations are accepted. The interior of the pagoda is not very interesting, as it is a reconstruction, but the main attraction is the panoramic view from the top.

Step into the mysterious Tibetan Buddhist temple
For lunch, a must-visit is the Jiuchi Popo shop, an old street establishment that looks somewhat dilapidated but carries a sense of historical weight. The place was packed early on, and the owner, based on the portion for two people, arranged for the signature dishes: cold mixed deboned meat, steamed beef with rice flour, and bone soup with tender vegetables. The cold mixed deboned meat was simply amazing, with chewy meat and crunchy cartilage, offering a crisp texture, and the spicy red oil made it even more delicious! This meal cost us 50 yuan for two people, which was an incredible value, with generous portions and great taste! Recommended for friends visiting Pengzhou for the first time.🍽️
After lunch, we immediately set off for today's ultimate destination: Longxing Temple! Longxing Temple is located at the north entrance of Pengzhou city, and from a distance, you can see a tall tower, a Tibetan Buddhist temple with exotic styles, known worldwide for the Shakyamuni Buddha's true body relic stupa. At first glance, it gives the illusion of being at Angkor Wat!🕌
Here, one not only feels a sense of mystery and solemnity but also finds that every casual snapshot is incredibly photogenic! Passing through the prayer wheels, walking through the temples, the pagoda gradually comes into view! The main pagoda is 81 meters high, derived from the Buddhist concept of 'returning to one after ninety-nine', with a total of 17 levels, even taller than the Leshan Giant Buddha. Climbing the pagoda requires a 20 yuan ticket, and it's all stairs to the top, which takes about 20 minutes to ascend.
