The Liberty Square Arch & Memorial Hall
If you are travelling to Taiwan and staying bear the Taipei main station, there are a few national monument located a 15mins walk away, with the cool weather it shouldn't be a problem.
There is the liberty arch square where is inevitable a huge public space where is used for public gathering in the late 1970s, also in the same vicinity is the memorial hall and the baotiibal theatre.
The national theatre is beautifully painted in bright red pillars and gold roof top, making this very ancient and yet very auspicious Chinese culture.
Lastly, also in the same area is the memorial hall of the former president, where this is a popular tourists attraction and landmark of Taipei. The view from above at the top of the steps also looks amazing!

Taipei’s Famous Public Square 🛕✨
Liberty Square is home to The National Theater & Concert Hall and The Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial. Located in Zhongzeng district, the square has been the main gathering spot since 1970. At that time, martial one party rule prevailed in Taiwan. The memorial became an attraction after the death of Chiang Kai-Shek who relocated to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war. The National Theater and Concert Hall is among the first facilities for modern art performance to be established in Asia. Each year, international or local artists are known to host events at the hall.
I arrived there in the late afternoon and unexpectedly witnessed the flag-lowering ceremony which started at about 5pm. Liberty Square is huge and gets busy in the afternoon. It’s such a nice and well-maintained place. A must visit! The Hall was closed, but I could walk up the stairs of The Memorial to have a look around.
🔵Access to Liberty square is free.
How to go ➡️ Take the MRT 🚇(Songshan-Xindian line OR Tamsui-Xinyi line)to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall station. The square is a 5 mins walk from the station.

Liberty Square in Taipei
Around 7:30 in the morning, there aren't many people in the square, it's very quiet🤫, with a few elderly people exercising at the entrance of the concert hall.
Dusk around 4 o'clock is the best shooting time, and it's also the busiest time here. Because 5 o'clock is the last changing of the guard ceremony, and 5:10 is the flag lowering. Despite the simplicity of the ceremony, there are still tourists who come to watch. After 6 o'clock, as the crowd gradually leaves, the square slowly becomes quiet again, and then it gets dark. Only two or three groups of young boys and girls spontaneously rehearse street dance in the light at the entrance of the grand theater.
