Que Niao Village is beautiful, but I prefer Ge Tou Miao Village.
Compared to Que Niao Village, I prefer Ge Tou.
Continue from Que Niao Village to the depths of Leigong Mountain
At the foot of the mountain is Ge Tou Miao Village
Ge Tou Miao Village is located in Ge Tou Village, Fangxiang Township, Leishan County.
The Miao name for "Ge Tou" is "Gan Diu" - meaning a village built of fir.
Ge Tou Miao Village is located in the depths of Leigong Mountain, at an altitude of 1,015 meters, and the entire village is surrounded by forests. The slopes on all sides are covered with dense fir trees.
According to statistics, there are more than 10,000 fir trees in Ge Tou Village, of which more than 3,500 are 300-500 years old, and more than 200 are over 1,000 years old.
Therefore, Ge Tou Miao Village is known as the "Hometown of Fir"
Because it is located in the depths of Leigong Mountain, the mountain road traffic is not very convenient
Even after some development, the environment is very good and beautiful
But many tourists find it difficult to get there except by self-driving
So the whole village is in a very quiet state

1️⃣ Maolan Nature Reserve
📍Libo County, Qiannan
A national nature reserve, it features a typical karst forest landscape and still maintains a very primitive ecosystem, preserving many extremely precious species of flora and fauna.
Forests above, stone forests in the middle, and cave forests below, it's beautiful, strange, and thrilling!
2️⃣ Jiabang Rice Terraces
📍Congjiang County, Qiandongnan
One of the best rice terraces in China, a World Agricultural Cultural Heritage site, a living 'agricultural culture museum'.
The Miao people's rice fields are planted along the mountains, on a large scale, and are super impressive! Nearly 10,000 acres, spread along a 25-kilometer road from Dangniu Village to Jiabang Village, with the essence in Dangniu, Jiaye, and Jiache (jū) villages, spanning 9 kilometers.
3️⃣ Wudong Miao Village
📍Leishan County, Qiandongnan
Hidden in the valley of Leigong Mountain, the mother mountain of the Miao people, at an altitude of 1300 meters, surrounded by mountains and shrouded in mist, you can look up to see the main peak of the Miaoling Mountains.
Three streams embrace the Miao village, with water wheels, milling houses, wind and rain bridges, and stilted buildings, making it a Miao paradise and one of the 'classic village landscapes of China', and one of the most beautiful Miao villages on Leigong Mountain.
4️⃣ Meitan Tea Sea
📍Meitan County, Zunyi City
The world's largest contiguous tea plantation, nearly 60,000 acres, an endless expanse of green, being there is like being in an ocean of tea.
From the Sea View Tower, looking down from the top of the tower, the green waves stretch on, refreshing and stunning!
Evergreen all year round, suitable for visiting in all seasons.
5️⃣ Dali Dong Village
📍Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan
An ancient Dong village built during the Ming Dynasty, the whole village is Dong people, and on ordinary days, villagers still wear ethnic costumes, with women combing their hair in ancient styles.
There are also well-preserved traces of Han culture, such as quadrangle courtyards and stone slab ancient paths, which are unique to Dali.
On holidays, villagers will dress up and sing Dong grand songs, a heavenly sound!
6️⃣ Rongjiang Village Supermarket
📍Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan
Rongjiang is the venue for the village supermarket, and this year's competition has started again! 62 village teams have decided on the top 20, and the finals will be held from March to July, with matches also taking place during the May Day period.
The Rongjiang morning market is also worth visiting, full of local delicacies, less than a ten-minute drive from the village supermarket football field.
7️⃣ Longji Sky Road
📍Liuzhi Special District, Liupanshui
A road carved out of Longji Mountain, winding towards the sky, is one of the top ten classic hiking routes in Guizhou.
15 kilometers long, with the highest altitude over 1800 meters, it is a typical karst landscape featuring sinkholes, caves, canyons, and stone forests.
The nearby Zangke River scenic area is one of the few natural paragliding outdoor activity bases in China, and international paragliding competitions are held here every year.

Reverse Travel | Que Niao Miao Village - The Forgotten Planet Village
| Que Niao Miao Village - The Forgotten Planet Village. If you've never been to Qiandongnan, or to the ancient Miao Village, then take a trip to "Que Niao Village" to satisfy all your imaginations about the appearance of Miao Village and the traditional life of Miao people.
"Que Niao", in Miao language, means "the source of green", located in Fangxiang Township, Leishan County, Southeast Guizhou. This village has a history of four to five hundred years of building villages. Because it is located in the Leigong Mountain National Nature Reserve, there is almost no development and construction here. The place with the strongest commercial atmosphere is the village's grocery store.
Compared with popular destinations like Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, almost no one will put Que Niao Village on their travel list, and even locals need to search repeatedly in their minds to remember its location. However, this little-known village has long been included in "Lonely Planet".
Standing at the high point at the entrance of the village, looking around, a stream runs through the village, hundreds of stilted buildings are built along the mountain, golden terraces surround the whole village, and the protective forest planted by the ancestors protects the safety of the whole village.
Here, villagers still live a farming life of sunrise and sunset. In the season of spring sowing and autumn harvesting, they still carry farming tools and crops on their shoulders and hands. They greet everyone with a smile, and their lives are plain and satisfied. Although they don't speak the same language, they always warmly invite "outsiders" to their homes for meals.
Here, everyday life is sleeping, dazing, taking pictures, fishing, picking tea, making tea, cutting rice, picking chestnuts, picking wild fruits... Life is leisurely, and the whole person becomes lazy and soft.
🚍How to get there:
1️⃣Train/High-speed rail: From the departure place to Kaili or Kaili South Station;
2️⃣Bus: Take a bus from Kaili to Leishan County, and then transfer to a bus to Fangxiang Township (Que Niao Down) (one bus each in the morning and afternoon), it is recommended to confirm the departure time with Leishan County Passenger Station in advance.
PS. Self-driving cars can navigate directly to "Que Niao Village".
🏨Accommodation recommendation:
Homestay: "Stay One Night"
Price: 190 yuan/person (including three meals, seasonal ingredients, super delicious)
PS. This homestay is run by the young couple "Xiao Niu" who returned to their hometown. The first floor has a kitchen, activity room (also living room and dining room), living room, the second floor is the guest room, you can see the mountain view from the window, and the small balcony can also enjoy the sunrise and sunset. In the traditional stilted building, there is also a negative first floor, which has been transformed into a public toilet, shower room, and handicraft experience area. They also organize experiential study activities on farming culture and traditional dyeing and embroidery.
Last words:
Because of work reasons, it is difficult for us to travel off-peak during long holidays, but if we can find a treasure-like niche travel destination and carry out "reverse travel", it is also a kind of luck. The popular destinations are crowded with people, and the experience is self-evident. The meaning of travel is not to check in, take pictures, and post circles to prove that you have been there, but to simply enjoy the travel itself and the whole process.
