Lapu-Lapu and Magellan Shrine
The Mactan Shrine, located on Mactan Island, just off the coast of Cebu City, is a must-see for everyone interested in Philippine history. It commemorates the Battle of Mactan that took place in 1521 between the Spanish and the Visayan (central Philippines) native people, along with paintings and plaques about that battle, it also contains two other important shrines - the Lapu Lapu Shrine and the Magellan Shrine.
Although Magellan is now regarded by many Filipino historians as the "enemy" who was killed by Lapu Lapu, Magellan is still remembered as the person who brought Christianity to the Philippines (commemorated by Magellan's Cross Memorial in Cebu City) and as the commander of the fleet which achieved the first ever circumnavigation of the earth.

[Cebu Island] Cebu's Hero Lapu-Lapu
We went to Lapu-Lapu on Mactan Island, which was a recommended tourist spot! ️
It took about an hour by taxi from Cebu City. (It cost about 1,700 yen)
The moment I got off the taxi after arriving at the site, I was approached by two older men who seemed to be locals.
At first, I didn't know what they were talking about, so I tried to ignore them, but it seemed like they were Lapu-Lapu guides, so I went with them (or rather, they followed me without me having to say anything lol)
They guided me through the history of the Lapu-Lapu statue and Magellan's tomb, so I enjoyed the place many times more than just looking at it normally✨✨
They also took photos in front of the statues and monuments, so there was no need to ask someone passing by.
Cebu has a lot of stray dogs, and there was one here too, but the older man said that it might be carrying a disease, so it's okay to look and take photos, but not to touch it🙅♀️.
There are mangroves in the sea that can be seen from this spot, and it is possible to go exploring for about an hour from a nearby dock.
We didn't have time to go...
Lapu-Lapu itself is not that big if you just want to look around, so you can take photos and walk around in about 15 minutes.
We were with the same guy, so we listened to his explanations and showed him around, so we stayed for about an hour.
There is a shopping mall called Mactan New Town about a 10-minute walk from here, so there are many cafes and restaurants✨
I found that it is even more enjoyable to visit any tourist spot after knowing what kind of place it is and what was there! (In the end, I was very grateful to the guys😊)
*Also, the guy who guided us can speak five languages, including Japanese, English, and Korean‼ ️He guided us in fluent Japanese✨

Lapu Lapu was a Portuguese who defended the small island by killing the enemy Spanish general in the fifteenth century, hence the area now called Lapu Lapu. Shangri-La is a 9-minute walk away, the square has blue lights in the evening, locals gather there, it’s very lively. There is a souvenir shop at the back of the square, and a magnet costs 20peso (about HK$3). Next to it is Newtown, with markets, authentic small restaurants, where you can feel the local cultural atmosphere. You can also try to take a Jeepney, Lapu Lapu is basically a major road, the main seaside resort, restaurants are on the roadside, just stand on the roadside at any time to raise your hand can intercept the car, 11peso (about 1.5 HKD), the fare through a passenger One is passed to the driver, change is passed back over, to get out of the car and knock on the roof to get out of the car at any time, very interesting experience.

The Lapu-Lapu Monument is a 20-meter bronze statue located in the Mactan Shrine park in Punta Engaño, Mactan Island, Cebu. The statue was erected to honor Rajah Lapu-Lapu, the native chieftain of Mactan Island who defeated Ferdinand Magellan during the historic Battle of Mactan in 1521.
The Lapu-Lapu memorial statue is on top of a pedestal surrounded by a low-level fence and shows the Cebuano hero in his native costume with a sword on his right hand and a shield on his left.

MACTAN CEBU PHILIPPINES
Mactan is a densely populated island located a few kilometers (~1 mile) east of Cebu Island in the Philippines. The island is part of Cebu province and it is divided into the city of Lapu-Lapu and the municipality of Cordova. The island is separated from Cebu by the Mactan Channel which is presently crossed by three bridges: the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), the Mactan–Mandaue Bridge, and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

My friends and I decided to have my birthday dinner in this restaurant and the moment we enter the door we already received a warm welcome. Aside from a cozy place, the staffs are very accommodating. Food was superb with reasonable prices. Just want to thank all the staffs particularly Jimson, Migz, Rita and Ms. Irish who made my birthday extra special. You guys indeed deserves a 5 star. Thanks to the owner of the restaurant Chef Alvin for having us. It is definitely highly recommended. See you again on our next visit. ☺

Both sides of Lapu-Lapu Monument are carved. Lapulapu and Ferdinand Magellan are engraved on the front and reverse respectively. This monument in the ruins is established for both leaders to memorize their contributions. This is no doubt an objective evaluation and reflection towards the history. Now here is a leisure park and people can have a rest.
