[2025 Hong Kong ] Travel Guide for Lai Chi Chong (Updated May)

It's located in Sai Kung West Country Park, lies on the southeast coast of Tolo Channel. We started from Pak Sha O, walked through a very nice trail, paved, so perfect for beginner and family👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, even when the whether is hot because it's shaded by trees 🌳🌳🌳🌳and with stream at some points makes it even more refreshing. It's about 3.5km long hiking. Along the trail some benches for🪑🪑 stopping by to take a rest and enjoy our snacks. After a walk, we stop at the beach which is close to the pier. Before arriving at the beach🏖, we met some campers 🏕 there. The beach is not big and there was nobody there when we arrived so it's like having our private beach for a day 😊. Important to note, it will be saved to wear water shoes if you want to go into the water, for the beach is rocky with so many shell fragments. The rest, the water is fresh, air is fresh, what a day 🤩🤩 The main attraction in this place is the natural volcanic 🌋rock formations by the shoreline. This sedimentation were formed and turned into a rugged beach. There we can find an expanse of vibrantly coloured minerals and sediments. From the pier, there's a ferry to Ma Liu Shui (please check the timetable) We took the same trail going back for it's much closer to our place. #hiking #seaview #geopark #nature

This time I came to Litchi Village by accident. When I was hiking to Shenchong Prairie, I saw the fork in the road and found that the distance was not far, so I came here to find out. I didn't expect to come to a geological park with high ornamental and scientific research value. 📖🪨Popular science: "Lychee Village is located at the northern foot of Shek Uk Mountain on the Sai Kung Peninsula. It belongs to the Sai Kung West Country Park and is a coastal village on the south bank of Tok Mun. It is said that there were three huge lychee trees on the main trunk, which gave it the name. The geological structure and rock types of Lizhizhuang are very complex, including not only volcanic sedimentary rocks from the late Jurassic period, but also tuff and other rocks. The most special of these is the pyroclastic sedimentary rock, which is formed after volcanic ash falls into the lake and mixes with sediments such as mud and sand, and then undergoes a long period of geological action. It has the characteristics of tuff and general sedimentary rocks and is a rare rock type in Hong Kong. 🌟🌟🌟 Walking along the stone road, you will pass a mangrove forest. Fortunately, it was low tide when we went there, so we could go down and walk in the mangrove forest area. It was very beautiful to take pictures. On the way back, the water had risen and submerged the roots of the trees. Walk along the stone road to the end of the pier, you can find a signboard for the Geopark, walk to the right path to the coast, turn left and keep going along the coast, you can see different types of volcanic rocks along the way🪨. Some coasts will be submerged by the sea when the tide is high. You can check the tide information before departure. It is best to go when the tide is lower than 1.3-1.4 meters. 🌟🌟🌟 The coastline of Lizhizhuang Geopark is a one-way route, and you need to return to the original route when you reach the end. (I originally wanted to go along the coast, but it is impossible to go, and don’t think about taking a shortcut 🙈. Rarely when the weather is nice, I chose to go to: Relaxed picnic at Lai Chi Kok, Bai Sha O and Hai Ha⛰ Lai Chi Estate is located in the north of Sai Kung. In addition to being a quiet village, it is also a World Geopark, where you can see the natural beauty of Sai Kung😍😍 The total length of the Lai Chi Chong route is about 7.4 kilometers, the whole journey only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, the scenery along the way is superb, the whole journey has no stairs at all, and many shades, belongs to the entry-level route, is a family outing choice.

Lizhi Village is best known for its beautiful camping site, but its geological landscape is also equally diverse. Just five minutes along the shoreline next to the pier you start to see large folds cut through the layers of rock, twisting and deforming them. Lychee Village is located in Sai Kung. It is a rare volcanic sedimentary rock formation in Hong Kong. It has rich and diverse colors, stratification and structure, which completely subverts the vision of tourists and is breathtaking! One of the major attractions of Lizhi Village is the washboard (folded landform) which is like the ghost washboard on the Miyazaki Coast in Japan.
