Hong Kong|Lizhizhuang Geopark🪨
This time I came to Litchi Village by accident.
When I was hiking to Shenchong Prairie, I saw the fork in the road and found that the distance was not far, so I came here to find out.
I didn't expect to come to a geological park with high ornamental and scientific research value.
📖🪨Popular science:
"Lychee Village is located at the northern foot of Shek Uk Mountain on the Sai Kung Peninsula. It belongs to the Sai Kung West Country Park and is a coastal village on the south bank of Tok Mun. It is said that there were three huge lychee trees on the main trunk, which gave it the name.
The geological structure and rock types of Lizhizhuang are very complex, including not only volcanic sedimentary rocks from the late Jurassic period, but also tuff and other rocks.
The most special of these is the pyroclastic sedimentary rock, which is formed after volcanic ash falls into the lake and mixes with sediments such as mud and sand, and then undergoes a long period of geological action. It has the characteristics of tuff and general sedimentary rocks and is a rare rock type in Hong Kong.

Walking along the stone road, you will pass a mangrove forest. Fortunately, it was low tide when we went there, so we could go down and walk in the mangrove forest area. It was very beautiful to take pictures. On the way back, the water had risen and submerged the roots of the trees.
Walk along the stone road to the end of the pier, you can find a signboard for the Geopark, walk to the right path to the coast, turn left and keep going along the coast, you can see different types of volcanic rocks along the way🪨.
Some coasts will be submerged by the sea when the tide is high. You can check the tide information before departure. It is best to go when the tide is lower than 1.3-1.4 meters.

The coastline of Lizhizhuang Geopark is a one-way route, and you need to return to the original route when you reach the end. (I originally wanted to go along the coast, but it is impossible to go, and don’t think about taking a shortcut 🙈. I have tried it, don’t do it.)

Hiking: Pak Sha O - Lychee Village
🚌: Transportation
Take green minibus No. 7 from Sai Kung Bus Terminal to Pak Sha O Station and walk to Litchi Village. The journey is about 3.5 km.
If time permits, you can also return to the junction of Sham Chung and Litchi Village, walk to Sham Chung Prairie, and retreat to Ma Liu Shui via Sham Chung Wharf. However, there are fewer boat trips at Sham Chung Wharf, with only two on weekdays and three on holidays, which is more time-constrained.) It is recommended to plan your time well.
