For those who bought the Tokyo wide pass, another interesting point is the hot springs at Kukatsu. It takes about 3 hours by train from Tokyo. You don't have to pay for the train. Just pay for the bus from the last station to the city and the bathing fee. There are many baths to choose from. Today, I will recommend an outdoor bath, but they are separated for men and women. From the city center, walk a long way following the signs and follow the stream up to find a bathhouse. Bring a towel from the hotel so you don't have to buy more. Stay for about an hour/half an hour and then sit and rest for a while. Otherwise, you'll get dizzy. It's so great especially during this cold weather. Visited Kusatsu Onsenkyo. It's great that all the tourist attractions are within walking distance here. It's deep in the mountains so access isn't great, but the best part is being able to enjoy the hot springs. The hot springs never get cold.
