For those traveling to the Kyushu, Fukuoka area and want to experience an onsen but are not comfortable with public baths, I highly recommend Kurokawa Onsen. This charming onsen town offers several ryokans with private onsens. I chose Fumoto Ryokan, which costs around 11,000 baht for two people, including dinner and breakfast. Kurokawa Onsen is a lovely small onsen village with a great atmosphere. You can sleep to the sound of flowing water and enjoy delicious meals both in the morning and evening. The ryokan I stayed at has about 9 private onsen baths and 2 public baths separated by gender. If you're not staying overnight, you can buy a ticket for around 1,200 yen, which allows you to choose 3 public baths from all the ryokans in the town. However, private onsens are reserved for guests only. For transportation, I rented a car, but there seems to be a bus service from Fukuoka as well.

I've been to Yufuin, but Kurokawa is a really quiet and small town. Since it's in the mountains, the scenery is so beautiful and the air is goodㅎㅎ There are almost no Koreans, and most of them are Japanese, so it had an even more Japanese atmosphere and was really great🥹 The biggest reason I recommend Yumerindo Hanadomari among the ryokans in Kurokawa Onsen Village is!!! The room has a private open-air bath💗 It was really great for me, who doesn't want to go all the way to the main buildingㅎㅎ (I had to go to the main building to eat breakfast and dinner!!) I could go in privately whenever I wanted, so I enjoyed the hot spring leisurely in the morning~! Of course, you can use the family bath in the main building, but you have to make a reservation early!!
