On our way from Interlaken to Zurich, we made a special stop at the world's sixth smallest country, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮, which is nestled between Switzerland and Austria. We were lucky enough to catch their National Day celebrations, experiencing the lively main street of Vaduz and feeling the genuine happiness and hospitality of the locals‼️ ⭐️Background: Liechtenstein is globally renowned for its stunning Alpine scenery, high GDP per capita, tax haven status, and its long-standing constitutional monarchy. The country covers an area of just 160 square kilometers and has a population of 39,000. The official language is German, and it has no airports or seaports, relying entirely on land routes. ⭐️Industry: Despite its small size, Liechtenstein has carved out a unique economic path. The country is famous for its beautifully designed postage stamps and is the world's leading producer and exporter of dentures, significantly boosting its economic vitality. ⭐️National Day: National Day is the day when you can see the most Liechtenstein residents. On this day, the National Museum, Postal Museum, Art Museum, and other institutions are open to the public for free. The not-so-long main street is filled with various stalls, and many families come out to celebrate, creating a lively atmosphere. We were warmly greeted by a Turkish kebab vendor who invited us to try some delicious kebabs. The tourist center at the end of the main street gives out free flags and crowns to visitors to enhance the festive mood. It's said that the King hosts a breakfast near the mountain castle in the morning, but you need to secure a spot a day in advance. Since we arrived at noon, we naturally missed it, but happiness can be found in the moment. There's always next time.
