🇺🇿Traveling to Uzbekistan, I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel Tashkent in Tashkent. Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is a treasure trove of cute things! In the capital, Tashkent, there is a large bazaar called Chorsu Bazaar. It is easy to access by bus from the city. It is a place where local people come to do their daily shopping, so it is full of local atmosphere. I went to choose plates, which was my purpose before going. The colorful plates with geometric patterns and pomegranate motifs are very cute. It is so beautiful that I want them all. The old town is centred on the Cheolsu Bazaar, with the 16th-century Kkardash Medrese and Juma Mosque. The first subway opened in Central Asia in 1977, and the beautiful decoration of each station is like a work of art.

After exploring Samarkand, we will return to Tashkent, as we have a flight to Almaty that day. Before heading to the airport, we plan to visit Amir Temur Square and explore every metro station in Tashkent. Afsona Restaurant is very popular in Tashkent and it is highly recommended on quite a few online platforms. We sat down for our final lunch in Uzbekistan and we were excited. But we made the wrong decision to order their fish as our entrée. Coming from Hong Kong, we are accustomed to fish done right and the fish at Afsona fell far below our expectations. Hi everyone! As I mentioned in a previous post, in Kyrgyzstan, we are traveling everywhere by car because we took a 4-day, 3-night ground tour with local Tour Guide. The price is very reasonable only $280 USD per person for the entire trip. We’ve been able to visit the most beautiful attractions! The tour includes a minivan, fuel, driver, all entrance fees, all transfers, 3 nights of accommodation with dinner and breakfast, as well as the driver’s expenses. Our tour guide is also very kind, and I had the experience of staying in their beautiful homestay with a wonderful family. After finishing our tour in Kyrgyzstan, our guide sent us to the main bus station in Bishkek City, as our bus to Tashkent was scheduled to depart at 5 p.m. (ticket price RM117). The journey to Tashkent took around 9 hours, and we arrived in Tashkent City at 1 a.m. After arriving, we booked a Yandex ride to Kamal Hotel to rest (RM50 for one room), as our train to Samarkand (RM69 for first-class Sharq train) was set to depart at 8 a.m. The train was in good condition and quite comfortable, as shown in the pictures. Formerly the National Museum of Turkestan, The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan in Tashkent was first founded in 1876. It was also known as the Lenin Museum during the Soviet times, as it was built to commemorate the centennial of Lenin’s birthday in 1970. The building showcases concrete grilles on the exterior walls with traditional Uzbek patterns called Panzhara. This architectural feature is considered a rare example of Soviet architecture incorporating explicit non-Soviet, multicultural elements. The museum presents the most comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s long history, from early neolithic settlement all the way to the formal establishment of its modern statehood (independence) in 1991. Here is what the museum had to say as a welcome introduction to visitors: Lying on the crossroad of great routes of the east, the Uzbekistan civilization was interacting with the advanced cultures of the east and the west. The first world religion – Zoroastrianism – was formed here, and other world religions – Buddhism and Christianity – have found a fertile field here. The highest level of Uzbekistan civilization has been manifested by the great contribution made by its representatives… in the strengthen of Islam as the world religion. A defining modern event in the history of Uzbekistan is the Earthquake of 1966 in Tashkent. The museum featured a clock that was broken by the earthquake at the very moment that the earthquake struck. The 5.2 magnitude earthquake devastated Tashkent, destroying much of the city’s existing infrastructures. 300,000 of its residents were rendered homeless. The beautiful metro stations in Tashkent were part of the effort to restore the city from the earthquake. In the next three years, reconstruction of the whole city managed to restore life back to normalcy for the people. Fast forward to September 1, 1991, Uzbekistan finally declared independence as a republic after the final demise of the Soviet Union. It has since maintained a close relationship with its Central Asian neighbors, and was very much within Russia’s zone of influence as well. The former President Islam Karimov was the Secretary of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan at the time of independence. He declared Uzbekistan an independent state following the attempted coup in Moscow in 1991. Uzbekistan was the second in the Central Asian nations to declare independence, after Kyrgyzstan. President Islam Karimov remained in power until his death on September 2, 2016. He was the authoritarian ruler of Uzbekistan for a full 25 years, despite explicit constitutional provisions that limited presidential terms to two only. Huge local market in Tashkent cannot be skipped. We went to celebrate the birthday of my friend to Tashkent for 3 days and of course Choray Bazaar was in our list. It’s a huge local market full of nuts, fruits, tea, meat and son inside. Outside you can also find clothes and other goods as well. Don’t forget to bargain! The nuts and pomegranate were so delicious and the prices were cheaper than we have in Russia so we bought them as the gifts for our friends and everyone liked them a lot! #celebrateit

Everything is great. ▪️ Location and transportation: It takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the hotel from Bukhara Railway Station by taxi. The hotel is located in a quiet alley, but you can walk to the attractions and restaurants. There are several small supermarkets in the alley, which is very convenient for buying snacks and drinks. The location is very good. ▫️ Room and service: Overall, the most impressive thing about this hotel is the service. Every staff member, whether at the front desk, restaurant, swimming pool, or guest room, is smiling and can communicate in English. They are very patient and will try their best to meet your needs. The hotel has complete facilities, including a restaurant, gym, swimming pool, and spa. Even if you don't use them, you can take a look. The swimming pool is especially beautiful. The guest room area is open-air, and you can sit in the corridor at night, which is very relaxing. Although the guest room is not large, it has everything you need and is very clean. The bed and bedding are the most comfortable I have slept in Uzbekistan. The bathroom is large enough, with a large sink, large drawers, and a large bathtub. The hot water is also very good, which is great for girls. There is enough space to put all your skincare and makeup products, and the shower is very comfortable. The breakfast is small but complete. The restaurant is not large and there are not many varieties, but like the room, it has everything you need. You can eat well and be full.
