Hong Kong, born a fishing village, fuses past and present. Victoria Harbour carves Kowloon from Hong Kong Island. The Star Ferry, running since 1880s, stitches them together - quick and cheap. Movies, malls, and Michelin stars collide here, luring every traveler to this vibrant beast.
Dive into Hong Kong’s foodie paradise—dim sum steals the show. Haggle in Mong Kok’s chaotic markets, then soak up Stanley’s seaside calm—fishing roots still cling. Catch a Peak Tram for skyline stunners or spot film-famous streets. This is HK’s relentless buzz—jump in now.

The Best Views at The Peak of Hong Kong
Going to the Peak
Take Green top Minibus Route 1 from the IFC (the station is beneath the overpass next to CitySuper) or the double decker Bus Route 15 from the Central Pier No. 5 and get off at the final stop at the Peak Galleria. After taking photos and touring at the Peak, take the Peak Tram back to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus. From there you are in the vicinity to the historic sites of Central, including the St. John’s Cathedral, Tai Kwun, Duddell Street Steps and Gas Lamps and more.
Some History
The Victoria Peak, in Cantonese Tai Ping Shan, is the highest hill of Hong Kong Island at 552 meters. It was once part of the City of Victoria in the early colonial times. The British found it necessary to escape the heat and the dampness of Hong Kong, and they began building grand residences at the Peak. Not only that, they made the Peak exclusively British and European. By the operation of the Peak District Preservation Ordinance (1904), the Peak was off bounds to the Chinese people of Hong Kong, until 1945 or so.
Before the construction of the Peak Tram in 1888, the European residents of the Peak would take sedan chairs as borne by the coolies to reach their lavish homes. In its earliest days, the Peak Tram served exclusively Europeans during the normal hours.
Best Spot to View Hong Kong's Skyline — The Lion Pavilion (Ming Yan Ting Pavilion)
There are a few spots to view Hong Kong’s famous skyline at the Peak. My advice to visitors is to never pay for this view at the Sky Terrace 428 on top of the Peak Tower. The Lion Pavilion presents equally good views. Another spot is to view at a deck at the Peak Galleria, which is also free for visitors.
From the Peak Tram terminus, find your way to Findlay Road toward the east. Walk for just two minutes and look out for the entrance to the Lion Pavilion on your left.
Heritage Dining at the Peak Lookout
If you want a proper dining experience at a heritage site at the Peak, the Peak Lookout is for you. As a dining establishment, the Peak Lookout serves international cuisine and the food is of high quality. I particularly enjoy its Indian cuisine. Its naan is heavenly with curry.
Formerly Old Peak Café, the Peak Lookout was built in 1888 as a place of rest for the engineers and workers that built the Peak Tram. In 1901, it became the chair shelter and rest stop for carriers of sedan chairs. By 1947, the idea of a dining establishment emerged with the setting up of light refreshments on this site. Over the next decades, it has evolved to the mid-ranged restaurant with upscale ambience that it is today.

I came to make an offering and pray to Guan Yin for good luck and wealth.
I came to pray to Guan Yin last month and came back to make amends here. 🚃 Take a cute train to Hong Kong Disneyland🩷
Traveling to Hong Kong Disneyland by MTR is an impressive and convenient experience, especially for those who love taking pictures with Disney characters. The route starts from Sunny Bay Station, which connects to Disneyland Resort Station, where a special Disney-themed train is served.
The highlight of this train is the interior decoration, which is full of cuteness, from the iconic Mickey Mouse windows to the Disney character models scattered throughout the train. Those who love a certain character can take pictures there. The atmosphere inside the train is very lively.
Tips for taking beautiful photos
On the way there, there are usually a lot of people, making it difficult to take photos. It is recommended to take the train back again because there will be fewer passengers, allowing you to fully capture the atmosphere of the train and get more beautiful photos.

Red Tea Cafe ใครไปฮ่องกงก็ต้องแวะ🥞🍳
#NewYearNewTrip Red Tea Cafe Tsim Sha Tsui branch is a popular breakfast restaurant that is popular with both Hong Kong locals and tourists. Even though we arrived at 8am, the shop was full of people. The shop is spacious and has a lot of seats, including the ground floor, so it can accommodate a lot of customers. The service is fast and the food is served quickly, no need to wait long.
Food is sold at certain times, such as breakfast from 7am to 11.30am, which is a set menu. Some rice or noodle dishes are sold after 11.30am. No matter how much you want to eat, if we go in the morning, it will be considered a miss.
🥢 Recommended menu: Braised beef noodles, macaroni and ham. It's delicious.

Mong Kok BBQ Restaurant Specialty Pineapple Bun
Appointment friend in Mong Kok, finally decided to eat skewers.
Pepper and salt + seaweed flavor + Thai hot sauce + kudzu $68
The fish is fried to a crispy texture, the fish is very tender, and pepper and seaweed are added to it, which makes it even more crispy.
Curry Beef Tongue Pineapple Bun (Slightly Spicy) $58
I eat pineapple buns at skewer shops, and they are crispy. The pineapple buns are filled with soft curry tongue and melted omelet.
Grilled Crayfish with Garlic Olive Corner (Slightly Spicy) $38@
For seafood, I ordered grilled crayfish. The crayfish is crispy and bouncy, has no grit, and has a strong garlic flavour.
Grilled mussels with garlic and preserved vegetables (2 pieces) $48
The scallops are full of meat, and with preserved cabbage, they taste even more delicious.
Honey Grilled Cheese Year Cake $28
It tastes not only the savory flavor of cheese, but also the sweetness of honey. The year cake is smoky and soft.
As for the skewers we ordered the following:
- Grilled White Eel with Pepper Eel Sauce ($48@): The crust is grilled to a very crispy texture, and the white eel meat is crispy
- Salt-grilled Wagyu Beef Tenderloin ($48@): The beef ribs are rich in meat and quite tender
- Pork Lychee Roll ($15@): Pork is wrapped in sweet lychee meat that bursts with juice in one bite
- Spicy Grilled Eggplant ($10@): The emerald melon is crisp and juicy
- Honey Grilled Pineapple ($10@): Tastes sweet and juicy, which neutralizes the greasiness of the skewers

🇭🇰Hong Kong souvenirs recommended🛍️ Bakehouse Hong Kong popular egg tart horn bakery
#2月好地方2025
📍Bakehouse Tsim Sha Tsui Store
Address: G/F, 44 Hankow Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Opening hours: 08:00 – 21:00
💰Egg Tart HKD 12.5
💰 Beef horn HKD 22
💰Donuts HKD 40
The Bakehouse is best known for their sourdough bread and croissants, which have a crispy yet chewy texture. In recent years, their egg tarts have been loved by many people and have attracted many people to come here, resulting in long queues. When we went there, we missed the baking time and the previous batch of egg tarts had been sold out, so if we wanted to buy them, we had to wait for a while. So we only bought two donuts. The donuts were solid QQ bread inside and were not greasy. They are definitely worth a try😋

Visiting the "Forbidden City" in Hong Kong
Hong Kong Palace Museum
To visit the Forbidden City complex, you go to Beijing, but to visit the Palace Museum, you can come to Hong Kong. After exiting the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station, a 20-minute walk along the coastline will take you to your destination.
The Hong Kong Palace Museum's architecture, at first glance, doesn't seem to have much to do with the "Forbidden City." After all, in a modern port city filled with skyscrapers, erecting a "Temple of Heaven" or "Temple of Earth" would disrupt the overall architectural harmony. However, the color scheme of the Palace Museum, with its bright yellow and crimson red combination, is a quintessential representation of Beijing.
There have been rumors that the collection would definitely come to the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and indeed, inside, there's a dazzling array of exhibits, including the "Emperor's New Clothes," daily necessities, imperial hand-held objects, and tribute gifts. It takes at least two hours to walk through each hall.
Tips: You need to purchase tickets in advance and make an appointment for your visit. To ensure a pleasant visiting experience, there are still flow control measures in place. In addition, there is luggage storage outside the museum, but the capacity is limited, so try not to bring luggage when visiting.

Just pass the border 😍 A good place to relax in the north
There are more and more spas opened in mainland China, and my family and I like to go to "East Harbor City Food Spa Club" 🫶🏻🫶🏻 This water restaurant is located right at Lo Wu Railway Station
And the decoration design here is very new and luxurious, in the new Chinese style log style 🫅 the men's area has a large thermostatic bath; the women's area also has a separate bath, you can enjoy comfortably😚
There are also a variety of saunas🧖🏻♀️, including mugwort salt steam room, dry steam sauna room, salt steam sauna room, etc., which can help remove moisture and toxins from the body☺️
The seating area here is very large and comfortable, the restaurant also offers a lot of good food, breakfast and supper are free buffet 🤩🤩!
In addition to massage sauna, the entertainment facilities here are very plentiful, with billiards 🎱, multi-purpose rooms for small gatherings or business negotiations, presidential suites, KTV🎤, ps game space camp 🎮 and more ~
After coming, of course, you have to go for a massage. The technicians here are experienced, professionally trained, and proficient in Chinese medicine physiotherapy techniques. They can press the acupoints and pain points very accurately, relieve the body's soreness and discomfort, and promote blood circulation🔄 Super comfortable🥰
After entering, there will be free fruit 🍉, drinks 🥤 unlimited all you can eat and drink 😋 You all come to eat and play and relax ~

Preserving the old Hong Kong village charm.
Address - Next to Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung
Facilities - Tung Chung Battery, a declared monument
Features - Very nostalgic fishing village atmosphere
Average price - Varies
Rating - 8.5 out of 10
Located in a small fishing village in Tung Chung, which is also a tourist area. In recent years, the surrounding area has been developed, so there are many construction sites, making it very convenient for tourists. Surprisingly, Ma Wan Village has retained many old houses, preserving the fishing village atmosphere at first glance. Some parts even take you back to the 1950s and 60s New Territories. The village has many seafood restaurants and barber shops. There are also many abandoned village houses, and on the other side, there are ancient battery ruins, making it a great place to watch the sunset and cable cars.

Environment/Facilities - The restaurant has a comfortable and vacation-like atmosphere

A newly opened large shopping mall, besides the well-known large sports stadium, the mall's environment also has an international outlet feel, making it quite relaxing. Recently, many restaurants have opened, and Ajisen Ramen is located on the ground floor. The restaurant is spacious with outdoor seating. The food prices are cheaper compared to other restaurants, mainly serving ramen and rice dishes. The taste is decent, and there are discount offers during the recent opening period. Overall, it's quite good.
One of Hong Kong's famous tourist attractions.

The architectural design of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is unique, with numerous splendid Buddha statues inside the temple. There are a total of ten thousand Buddha statues, giving a sense of religious sanctity and beauty. The monastery covers more than 60,000 square feet, built along the mountain, and includes the Ten Thousand Buddhas Hall, Amitabha Hall, Guanyin Hall, Jade Emperor Hall, Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda, and the Eighteen Arhats Gallery. Visitors can not only appreciate the charm of Buddhist culture but also understand the religious beliefs and social cultural background of Hong Kong.

Mid-range chain pizza flagship store.
Address - Shop G, Empire Centre, 68 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Environment/Facilities - Spacious place with live singer performances
Business hours - 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Average price - $150 per person
Rating - 8 out of 10
Pizza Express in Tsim Sha Tsui, near East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, has a large dining area with ample seating. During the afternoon tea time on weekends, only a la carte menu is available, no set meals. The overall taste is delicious, but the portion sizes are much smaller than the pictures. On certain evenings, there are live band performances, which should create a nice atmosphere. The food quality is above average for a chain pizza restaurant, and the prices are reasonable. It's a great place for a gathering with a large group of friends.
Hong Kong finally has a new large outdoor mall
Address: No. 9 Haiying Road, Ma'anshan
Environment/Facilities -
Opening hours: 10:00 to 22:00
Price per person – Free admission
Rating - 7.5 out of 10
The back garden of Sai Kung North is a new shopping mall attached to a large private housing estate. Sai Sha GO PARK is spacious and has different types of restaurants. Pets are also welcome. There are amusement facilities for children. If it is a holiday, there will be a lot of people. There is an exclusive children's playground, which is suitable for the whole family to have fun together. It combines sports, entertainment and catering. The large outdoor space is suitable for weekdays, but the small number of toilet stalls is a disadvantage. It integrates the city and the suburbs. You can also walk to the small pier from both sides of the parking lot to check in. There are four pedestrian bridges along Sai Sha Road. There is a D position on the pedestrian bridge with a good view from a distance, which is considered to be good luck.

Preserve the complete Tung Chung Fort site.
Address - Tung Chung Road, Lantau Island
Environment - Feels like stepping back into the Qing Dynasty
Features - A small fortress from the Qing Dynasty
Price per person - Free admission
Rating - 9 out of 10
Tung Chung Fort, dating back to 1832, was used between 1938 and 1940 and features walkable defensive walls. It once served as a temporary campus for Foshan Wah Ying Middle School, the Tung Chung Rural Committee, and became part of Tung Chung Public School, which closed in 2003 and has been abandoned since. The school buildings still retain the style of the Qing Dynasty, with an antique charm, making it a tourist attraction. However, despite the passage of time, the abandoned school buildings still have a somewhat eerie atmosphere, even in broad daylight. It is quite rare to find a complete city wall site preserved in the bustling city, and visitors can even walk around the wall. It's surprising to find such ancient city wall structures in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong's Rare Natural Ecological Park
Address - Sheung Shui, Yuen Kong Village, North District, New Territories
Environment/Facilities - Beautiful natural ecological scenery
Features - Large wetland area
Average Price - Free admission
Rating - 8/10
This newly opened park is quite accessible, with minibuses directly from Sheung Shui. From October to November, you can take photos of the rice fields, and there are various crops to explore throughout the year. The rare rice fields are a bird paradise, filled with the sounds of birds. Stroll along the paths between the fields, admire the watercress fields, breathe fresh air, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also a stopover for migratory birds. City dwellers should slow down and enjoy this great place to get close to nature. It's worth a half-day trip to enjoy the rural scenery.

I didn't exchange a single Hong Kong dollar, but still had a blast in Hong Kong for a day.
Before going to Hong Kong, I was really worried about whether I needed to exchange Hong Kong dollars. I checked various travel guides, and everyone seemed to have different opinions. After a 20-hour layover, I can confirm from personal experience that there's no need to exchange Hong Kong dollars.
🗺️A few tips:
Regarding transit passengers entering Hong Kong:
After arriving at Hong Kong Airport, take the train to checkpoint E2 and enter the visitor channel. Starting from October 2024, you no longer need to fill out an arrival application form. You can directly go through the process with your connecting flight ticket.
🚌Getting from the airport to the city center:
You can choose between the Airport Express and the bus. I chose the Airport Express, which took about 30 minutes. Two-person and three-person tickets are cheaper than single tickets. You can buy tickets directly from the vending machines using WeChat or Alipay, which is very convenient.
🚇Taking the subway: There's no need to buy an Octopus card. You can simply search for "public transport card" on WeChat or Alipay and activate it. It's basically the same as in Chongqing, with automatic exchange rate conversion.
🚶City walk route:
I didn't follow any of the routes I had planned.
I took the Airport Express directly to Hong Kong Station and walked from Central to Kennedy Town. Along the way, I visited Health Street, the former Gunpowder Magazine, the University of Hong Kong, Winstons Coffee, and % Arabica. The entire journey didn't feel particularly long, but the uphill and downhill stretches were quite tiring.
Regarding food and beverage expenses: For two people staying for 20 hours, including round-trip Airport Express tickets, lunch, and dinner, we spent a whopping 1,000 RMB, and we didn't buy anything. We walked everywhere. We had lunch at a *cha chaan teng* (tea restaurant) and dinner (pasta + small burger + two beers). The prices were exorbitant.
Hong Kong's Last Hidden Fishing Village
📍Address: Ma Wan Chung Village, Tung Chung
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Traditional Hong Kong fishing village
💰Average Cost: Free entry
💞Recommended Reason: It will become increasingly rare in the future
Transportation is relatively convenient. Take a bus from Tung Chung MTR station to Yat Tung Estate and walk 5 minutes towards the seaside. The village has many unique stilt houses, contrasting with the nearby high-rise buildings, offering beautiful scenery. The exterior walls are adorned with murals, perfect for photo ops or enjoying the sea breeze. The village bridge has small patches of mangroves and mudflats, where you might spot egrets if you're lucky. During low tide, you can see fiddler crabs and mudskippers. Additionally, there are two seafood restaurants in the village. While they can't compare to the seafood hubs of Sam Shing, Lau Fau Shan, or Sai Kung, the taste and prices are decent, and they offer outdoor seating with sea views, adding to the charm.
A few outstanding hotel afternoon tea buffets.
📍Address: L Floor, Cordis Hotel Hong Kong, 555 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Open design
🕰️Business Hours: 06:30 to 22:00
💰Average Cost: $290/person
💞Rating: 8/10
There are not many high-quality buffet options in Mong Kok, but The Place at Cordis Hotel is definitely one of the top choices. They offer an afternoon tea buffet on weekends, which is rare among hotels currently offering this service. Our group of more than ten people booked a long table, and the restaurant's decor and sense of space were quite good. The buffet offers a wide variety of food, including rare seafood items such as mussels, baby lobsters, cold shrimp, and snow crab legs. There are also plenty of hot dishes, salads, bread, and desserts to choose from, making the two-hour dining time just right.

A good value Japanese izakaya in Central
📍Address: 2/F, Man Yee Building, 60-68 Des Voeux Road Central, Central
🏖️Environment/Facilities: High-end Japanese cuisine with garden design
🕰️Opening hours: 11:30 to 22:00
💰Average consumption: $150/person
💞 Rating: 7.5/10
Found an economical Japanese izakaya in Central, a high-consumption area. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a shopping mall. Although it is not conspicuous, the interior decoration is very good, with a Kyoto, Japan feel, and the seats are comfortable. The weekday lunch set menu is not expensive and includes snacks, main dishes and drinks. The restaurant has a liquor license and has a variety of sake to choose from. It is also a good idea to go there for happy hour after work.

🌸 The pink dream of Kwai Fong Village: a tour of the Jacaranda cherry blossoms 🌸
#HongKongSakura
In this spring season, the cherry blossoms of the Jacaranda trees near Kwai On Building in Kwai Fong Village are in full bloom like a dream, attracting many tourists to come and watch. When I walked into this sea of flowers, the scene before me stunned me! These pink petals sparkle in the sun, as if they were a beautiful painting carefully woven by nature for us. 🌷
The flowering period of the trumpet tree usually lasts from March to May, and at this time of year, the entire area is surrounded by these gorgeous flowers. The densely packed flowers on the branches remind people of Japan's cherry blossoms, but the Jacaranda trees here have their own unique charm. Standing under the tree and looking up at the blooming flowers, my heart is filled with joy and emotion, and I seem to have forgotten all the daily worries.
In this sea of flowers, whether you are admiring it alone or sharing it with friends, you can feel an indescribable happiness. The tourists either took photos or admired the scenery quietly, and everyone had a smile on their face. This harmonious coexistence of man and nature made me feel the beauty of life. 💖
