Koh Samet: A Getaway Near Bangkok
Today, I want to introduce a summer destination not far from Bangkok - Koh Samet! This is my second time visiting this island. If you have 2-3 days, you can come and relax here.
Advantages of Koh Samet
- Convenient travel
- Close to Bangkok, not very expensive
- Clear water, not too crowded
- Various activities: snorkeling, kayaking, chilling at cafes
- Affordable accommodations
Koh Samet Travel Plan
This trip, I went with friends, a total of 5 people. We decided to drive ourselves, taking about 3-4 hours (including a lunch stop). We parked our car at Ban Phe Pier in Rayong.
Day 1: We left Bangkok around 8 AM and took a regular boat from Ban Phe Pier, which took less than an hour. We arrived at Koh Samet around 2 PM, including the queue at the pier. At 3 PM, we took a songthaew to our accommodation, which was a house for all 5 of us. At 5 PM, after unpacking and resting a bit, we went out for dinner. The accommodation offered a BBQ service by the sea. After dinner, we returned to our place.
Day 2: We woke up early to watch the sunrise, took a walk on the beach, and had breakfast. After freshening up, we walked along the beach to a cafe for some photos. In the evening, we walked on the beach again and had dinner at Ploy Talay Restaurant, where we watched a fire show. Even though it was my second time seeing it, I still enjoyed it. After the show, we returned to our accommodation.
Day 3: We slept in a bit, packed our things, took a songthaew to the pier, and took the ferry back to Ban Phe Pier. We then drove back to Bangkok, stopping for lunch along the way.
It was a short and budget-friendly trip with friends, not far from Bangkok. The total cost was about 4,000 baht. By the way, the water at Koh Samet is really clear!
