Kinmen Town Military Headquarters
[Jincheng General's Office] Since the 21st year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, Chen Long, the general of Kinmen Town, moved his capital from Kinmen City to "Houpu", which became the military and political center of Kinmen in the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty Kinmen Town General Military Headquarters is the only general military headquarters in Taiwan and Fujian, and is of great historical value.
The current configuration is a four-courtyard scale from the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. On the central axis, from front to back, there are the Shanchuan Gate, the lobby, the corridor, the inner office, and the inner residence, forming the distinction between the front court and the rear bedroom. Currently it is used as a display space.
The Shanchuan Gate is the facade, the lobby is the main space for government affairs, and it is also the center of the General's Office. The inner house is the living space, and there are symmetrical side rooms on both sides, all with corridors, which are the work spaces for subordinates (many showrooms have wax figures, which is quite special).
The front yard of the building is wide, with a screen wall in front, creating a rare square space in Houpu City; the inner courtyard is also spacious, with large green banyan trees planted for shade, and there is an old kapok tree in the back garden, which is very spectacular.
