Spectacular views! A resort hotel in Izu with rooms featuring open-air baths
#HotelReview
There are two cafes with foot baths on the premises, an infinity open-air bath, and an open-air bath in every room. This is the best resort hotel in Izu.
Izu Hotel Resort & Spa
The rooms have a half-open-air bath, so you don't have to worry about it raining! And the hot spring is free-flowing! Enjoying a solitary bath while looking out at the sea is luxurious.
The large bath is an infinity hot spring, which has a unique design where you stand while bathing. It's also a spectacular view.
This hotel is flawless in terms of scenery, food, and style.♫ How about a winter stay-at-home trip? The bakery table in the hotel also serves cute cakes and pizza, so you can have dinner there even if you don't have a dinner plan.♫ The terrace seats come with a foot bath.♫
The outdoor terrace cafe also comes with a foot bath! It's warm and recommended even in winter to have a snack while soaking your feet in the foot bath!
Guests can also enjoy free wine and snacks in the lounge. 📍Spot name: Izu Hotel Resort & SpaAddress: 1457-30 Naramoto, Higashiizu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka 413-0302Opening hours: From 15:00Recommended: There are two cafes, so you won't have any trouble finding a meal even if you don't have a dinner plan. A hotel in Atagawa Onsen, Izu, with an open-air hot spring bath and terrace, with ocean views in all rooms.
I thought it had a Hawaiian hotel feel everywhere, and it turns out it really is modeled after a Hawaiian resort. I thought that without knowing, so it really feels like Hawaii.
Not only the open-air baths in the rooms, but also the large public bath is noteworthy! It is an open-air bath with no windows and a deep water depth of 125cm, which is a rare experience.
This was my first time at Atagawa Onsen, but there are few hot springs that make your skin so smooth and are effective against rough skin!
I love the quality of the spring so much that I want to go back just for the hot spring!
Another attraction is that there are only 26 guest rooms, so you don't meet anyone in the large public bath. There was even a comfortable couch and table to sit on.
Another attraction of this hotel is that there are wonderful spots scattered in ordinary places.
In order to enjoy the spectacular view, there are no walls, and water basins are placed in various places to create paths, and the garden in the middle of the hotel, which is full of a resort feel, is actually a foot bath.
I would recommend this to resort lovers, of course, but also to those who like alcohol.
The lounge was so comfortable that I stayed there for about three hours.
It was a very satisfying hotel that had everything I wanted.

Experience the precious Showa retro atmosphere at Gyokusuikan!
Izu Atagawa Onsen Gyokusuikan
Gyokusuikan is currently closed due to renovation work.
It is scheduled to open as "Miharuya" in a few months.
I stayed here just before it closed to experience the Showa retro atmosphere that is on the verge of extinction.
I booked a room-attached bath, which is limited to 5 groups per day.
The bath attached to the room also uses hot spring water, so you can enjoy the hot spring at your leisure whenever you like.
And the food is delicious!
The quantity and taste are very satisfying!
They even serve sweet and delicious sweet potatoes for a midnight snack.
The building and rooms have a great Showa retro atmosphere.
It was such a wonderful inn that it's sad to think that I will never be able to experience this atmosphere again.

Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival: The Last Day of Full Bloom 🌸
#cherryblossom25
In the early spring of Kawazu Town, the entire area is painted in shades of pink as the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Along the Kawazu River, petals drift with the current, making their way toward the Pacific Ocean—a breathtaking sight in the folds of time.
Transport Guide: Tokyo to Kawazu Town
Recommended Routes from Tokyo:
JR Limited Express "Odoriko": Directly from Tokyo Station to Kawazu Town.
Via Shinkansen: Take the JR Tōkaidō Shinkansen to Atami Station (about 50 minutes), then transfer to the Izu-Kyū Line to Kawazu Station (around 70 minutes). The train ride offers beautiful views of Sagami Bay, and when it passes through the cherry blossom tunnel, it slows down, becoming a "moving observation deck."
Attractions & Highlights:
"Odoriko Trail": Near the trail, you’ll find fields of vibrant canola flowers blooming in sync with the sakura, creating a stunning contrast of pink and golden hues. It's a must-see spot for photos!
Sakura Taiyaki: A popular treat available only at the stands near Kawazu Station. Choose from three flavors: Sakura, Red Bean, or Cream. Make sure to snap a photo of the taiyaki alongside the pink blossoms for the perfect shot!
Enjoy your visit to this picturesque cherry blossom paradise! 🌸

Is it more beautiful than Okinawa? The overwhelming beauty of Dogashima's sea.
The sea at Dogashima, located in Nishi-Izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, was breathtakingly beautiful...

Taking a walk while gazing at this incredibly beautiful sea brought me unparalleled happiness.
Is this Okinawa...? No, perhaps it's even more beautiful than Okinawa...
That's what you'll think.
Moreover, the waves are calm, making it a perfect spot for swimming in the summer, enjoyable for both adults and children!
Additionally, there's a sightseeing boat tour that takes you to the nearby Blue Cave, a spectacular sight you won't want to miss!

A relaxing time for adults, soothed by the magnificent view. A luxurious cafe time at "Izu Hotel Resort & Spa" ♪
#Spring0yentrip
Izu Hotel Resort & Spa, located on a hill in Toi, Izu, is a luxurious inn with a spectacular view of Suruga Bay. We especially recommend the open lounge, which can be enjoyed not only by guests but also by those who just use the cafe! You can enjoy an extraordinary cafe time with a view where the blue sea and sky seem to blend together.
On a sunny day, it's great to relax on the terrace while feeling the sea breeze! There is a sophisticated lineup of drinks and sweets, and the fruit cakes and seasonal menu items are especially good in appearance and taste. The great thing about this place is that you can experience this spectacular view and space even if you don't stay overnight.
In the evening, you can see the sun setting over Suruga Bay, and the cafe transforms into a sunset lounge. You can enjoy a special moment in which your mind and body are reset during this relaxing time.

A dreamy start to spring
#cherryblossom25
Visiting the Kawazu cherry blossoms near the river was a breathtaking experience. The vibrant pink sakura trees lined the water, creating a stunning contrast against the clear sky. Walking along the river, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the early blooms that make this spot so special. The gentle breeze carried petals through the air, adding to the beauty. A perfect place to welcome the arrival of spring in Japan!

The prettiest season of all
#cherryblossom25
Kawazu in Japan is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms, famous for its early-blooming Kawazu-zakura. These vibrant pink flowers bloom as early as February, creating a stunning contrast against the blue sky and riverbanks. Walking along the Kawazu River, I was surrounded by endless rows of blossoms, their delicate petals drifting in the breeze. The peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking scenery made it an unforgettable springtime experience.

Kawazu, Shizuoka Prefecture
#cherryblossom25
Kawazu is famous for its early-blooming cherry trees, making it one of the first places in Japan to enjoy sakura season. Unlike the usual late March to April blooms, Kawazu’s cherry blossoms start as early as February, offering a vibrant preview of spring. The town hosts the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, where visitors can stroll under bright pink blossoms lining the river while enjoying local street food. Illuminations at night create a magical atmosphere. The combination of warm weather, fewer crowds, and scenic riverside views makes Kawazu an excellent choice for travelers looking to start hanami season early.

Kawazu Zakura, the first place to see pink cherry blossoms blooming
#Get a discount without relying on luck 🌀🌸 Kawazu 2025 #The place to see pink cherry blossoms that bloom before anyone else. The Kawazu Zakura Festival is held every year during February-March. It is a pink Kawazu cherry blossom that blooms in winter and here it is lined up very beautifully. It is a popular place for Thai tourists. This year, it bloomed quite late. The picture was taken on 25.02.2025.
This year, there are more shops, better management, and walking around is more comfortable. There is also a webcam here. Search Google with the word livecam kawazu and you will find it. You can check if there are many cherry blossoms in bloom so that you can plan your trip accordingly.

I went to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms
I stayed overnight at Ito Onsen from March 26th to March 27th to see the Izu Kawazu cherry blossoms. I had originally planned to go two weeks in advance and booked a hotel, but this year's blooming was delayed, and even on the day, the cherry blossoms were only about one-third in bloom. I wonder if the most beautiful blooming was the raw tree cherry tree (said to be the raw tree of Kawazu cherry blossoms)? Even though it was a weekday, the town was famous for its early-blooming cherry blossoms, so many tourists were visiting. There seemed to be a lot of inbound Asian foreigners. I was also pleased with the bath food and accommodation prices at the Itoen Hotel Matsukawakan in Ito Onsen, where I stayed. If I have the opportunity to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms again, I would definitely like to see them in full bloom. 🕰️Opening hours: From sunrise to sunset, but it seems that there are also illuminations. 🏖️Atmosphere/facilities: I mainly walked along the river, but security guards guided me at intersections, etc., so I felt safe. Since it was a weekday and before full bloom, the stalls were about half open. 📍Location: Kawazu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture
💰Price per person: Approximately ¥15,000 from Iwaki-shi, Fukushima Prefecture, including accommodation. We tried to avoid using expressways and toll roads as much as possible.
💞Reasons why we recommend it: You can enjoy early-blooming cherry blossoms.

Surprise at the Mother Tree: The Origin of Kawazu Cherry Blossoms Nationwide.
Travel Date: 2/24
This winter has been particularly cold, causing the famous early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms to bloom late.
While the trees along both sides of the Kawazu River have only bloomed about 20-30% or not at all,
this tree, known as the original Kawazu cherry tree, is understood to be the first Kawazu cherry tree. Without it, there wouldn't be any other Kawazu cherry trees.
It is located in a relatively remote area, about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
In front of a private house, it has surprisingly bloomed about 50%.
Slightly disappointing but still a pleasant surprise.
It would look even more beautiful under a blue sky, but unfortunately, it was cloudy with snow on that day.
The original Kawazu cherry tree is a natural monument of the town.
Although it is quite far, you can take a walk along the Kawazu River upstream and visit this tree along the way.

"Snake Falls 🐍 | One of the Seven Kawazu Waterfalls, a mysterious small waterfall"
Located in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Hebi-taki is a beautiful waterfall known as one of the Kawazu Nanadaru (Seven Waterfalls).
At about 3 meters high, it is the smallest of the seven waterfalls, but its quiet presence and the scenery created by the surrounding nature attract visitors.
I saw all the waterfalls, but
I liked this one the best!
Characteristics:
Origin of the name: It was named "Hebi-taki" (Snake Waterfall) because the shape of the waterfall basin resembles a snake's head.
Surroundings: A quiet place surrounded by lush greenery, where the sound of the waterfall and the chirping of birds echo.
Location: Nashimoto, Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture
Access:
Public transport: Take the Tokai Bus bound for "Kawazu Nanadaru" from "Kawazu Station" on the Izu Kyuko Line and get off at the "Kawazu Nanadaru" bus stop. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Hebi-taki waterfall.
There is also a rest spot called Nanataki Chaya where you can stop by on your way to the waterfalls and enjoy local specialties and souvenirs. When visiting, please wear comfortable shoes as there are some slippery areas.

"Darudaru Dandanbashi (Waterfall Terrace Bridge) - A suspension bridge overlooking the beautiful valley of Kawazu Nanataki Falls"
Located in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Darudaru Dandan Bridge is a single suspension bridge that spans the Kawazu Nanataki area.
This is a rare suspension bridge with stairs attached to it, called a suspended deck staircase bridge.
From this bridge, you can get a close-up look at the cliffs formed by the lava flow of Noborio Minami Volcano and the beautiful valley scenery.
There are many meetings and some places are slippery, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
📍Location: Nashimoto, Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture
Access:
Public transport: Take the Tokai Bus bound for Kawazu Nanataki from Kawazu Station on the Izu Kyuko Line and get off at the Kawazu Nanataki bus stop. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Takidan Bridge.
Nearby attractions:

Kawazu: Where Spring Arrives Early 🌸
#tokyostroll
A day-trip from Tokyo.
If you can’t wait for cherry blossom season, Kawazu is the place to be! Just a couple of hours from Tokyo, this charming town on the Izu Peninsula is famous for its Kawazu-zakura—a special variety of sakura that starts blooming in February, way earlier than the usual cherry blossoms.
Walking along the Kawazu River, surrounded by endless rows of fluffy pink blossoms, feels like stepping into a dream. The contrast of vivid pink against the deep blue sky and river is simply breathtaking. And the best part? Since these sakura bloom for about a month, you have a much better chance to catch them in full glory!
The Kawazu Sakura Festival is an absolute must-visit, with local street food stalls, warm amazake, and picturesque views at every turn. If you’re chasing early spring vibes in Japan, this is the spot!
📍 How to get there: Take the JR Limited Express Odoriko from Tokyo to Kawazu Station (about 2.5 hours).
🌸 Best time to visit: Mid-February to early March.

Kawazu cherry tree: the source of early spring cherry blossoms🌸
The Kawazu Sakura Tree, located in Tanaka, Kawazu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture, was discovered by chance along the Kawazu River in 1955 by Katsumi Iida, who planted it in his garden.
This cherry tree first bloomed about 10 years later in 1966, and was subsequently named "Kawazu Sakura."
It is now an estimated 70-year-old tree with a trunk circumference of about 115 cm and a height of about 10 m. Its beautiful pink blossoms bloom every year from early February to early March, attracting many tourists.
The tree is especially lively during the Kawazu Sakura Festival, when various events and food stalls are held around the tree.
It is recommended to use public transportation when visiting as it can get quite crowded.
Also, the logs are in a corner of a private home, so please enjoy them without causing any trouble 😌

[Izu🪼] I went to Atagawa Banana Crocodile Garden😆
I wasn't sure until the end if there were crocodiles or not😆
There was a crocodile-like thing in the tank, but was it real? It didn't move at all. Maybe it's because it's winter~
I also saw bananas🍌 growing.
And above all, the red pandas are cute😍
The tortoises🐢 were surprisingly big‼️
I walked around the large grounds, thinking I'd come to see the crocodiles🐊, but it turned out to be a zoo and botanical garden, so it was fun😊

The adorable "hanging dolls" that decorate the town and the Hina dolls displayed on the 118 steps to the main hall at this shrine are a sight to behold!! 😍.
Since 2014, Hina dolls and hanging Hina doll decorations have been displayed on the steps of this shrine.
You can also receive a limited-time goshuin stamp.
I went up to the main hall from the side stairs and took this view from below.
About 500 Hina dolls were lined up, and both sides were decorated with colorful traditional hanging decorations, which was a spectacular sight! ⚠Caution: It was a Sunday, and I arrived around 9 o'clock, but there was already a line to take photos...😅 I think I waited about 2.5 minutes. I've been to see Kawazu Cherry Blossoms in the daytime several times, so I wanted to see them at night too! So I finished dinner at the hotel early and headed to the cherry blossom avenue 🚗
It was about 20 minutes from the hotel.
I went to the usual cherry blossom avenue, but only some of the lights were on? Hmm? Hmm? While thinking this, I passed several people in the dark...
I asked the only food stall that was open...
They said that due to the effects of COVID, only a part of the area near the station was open.
😳😳😳
I confirmed with the hotel that the lights were on, but I hadn't heard that they had scaled them down💦
I hurried over there and somehow made it in time for the lights to be turned off.
Fantastic Kawazu night cherry blossoms that float in the night🌸~💕💕
I'm glad I got to see them~
If you're planning on going, make sure to check the location carefully.

A slow resort located right in front of the ocean at Imaihama, where you can spend your time as you like while gazing at the calm, sparkling sea.
It was just reopened in August 2024, and the spacious building and rooms, which are based on a Japanese modern concept, are stylish, clean and comfortable.
All rooms are completely oceanfront, and the hot springs are equipped with two types of large baths, an open-air bath, a sauna and a private open-air bath. Since the baths are switched between men and women in the morning and evening, you can enjoy each type. There is a wide variety of yukatas, and the children's ones are cute.
In addition, there are three all-inclusive lineups, and they cover the time period from 5am to midnight, which is wonderful. It is a hotel that conveys a sense of hospitality that does not care about profitability and wants you to enjoy it to the fullest.
The hospitality of the staff was high, the cleaning was thorough, and I felt the consideration for the customer's perspective in every detail, and I had a really comfortable and memorable stay. If the hotel becomes more well-known, I think it will become a popular and difficult-to-book hotel. There is free parking on site and a shuttle service. It is within walking distance from the station. I would like to come back again.
