Cherry Blossom Knowledge
1. History of cherry blossoms: Wild cherry blossoms originated in the Himalayas millions of years ago and later spread to China, Korea and Japan. According to Chinese literature, cherry blossoms were already cultivated in Chinese palaces during the Qin and Han dynasties more than 2,000 years ago. By the Tang Dynasty, cherry blossoms had become common in private gardens. Bai Juyi once wrote a poem saying, "I know that the official residence is not my home, so I dig up wild cherries and plant them all over the yard." There are as many as 33 species of wild cherries native to my country. Unfortunately, we let wild cherries fend for themselves and seldom take the trouble to discover their greater ornamental value.
2. Early cherry blossoms in Hejin: As a fanatic about cherry blossoms, I went to Hejin today, accompanied by Qing Shuai, to enjoy the first batch of cherry blossoms this year. After learning about the history of Kawazu early cherry blossoms, I discovered that half of the Kawazu cherry blossoms are Chinese bell-flowered cherry blossoms, which are hybridized with Japanese Oshima cherry blossoms. After decades of careful cultivation by the Japanese, the first batch of cherry blossoms are produced every year. After the early cherry blossoms in Kawazu bloomed, they slowly spread across Japan, from south to north.
3. Understanding: This has to make us realize something. China is vast and rich in resources. It is known as a treasure house of plants and has a rich variety of flowers. Unfortunately, our national flower seems to have never been chosen. Some time ago, the relevant departments mentioned the national flower - peony, and submitted it to the relevant departments. I hope there will be a follow-up. Just wait!
