[Akita] Travel back in time to a Showa era school 🏫 Introducing an abandoned wooden school where you can see, touch and play 🔍
The most emotional place is the abandoned wooden school building, isn't it? In my hometown, the birthrate is declining, and local elementary schools are merging, leading to schools being closed one after another... This is a sad reality, but there are places all over the country that are using these abandoned schools as tourist spots! Among them, I would like to introduce an abandoned school that I particularly recommend 🏫 This time, I would like to introduce "Omoide no Kata Branch School (Former Tazawako Town Obonai Elementary School Kata Branch School)" near Lake Tazawa in Akita Prefecture. You will find this abandoned school at the end of a road around Lake Tazawa 💡 The former Tazawako Town Obonai Elementary School Kata Branch School, which was located near Lake Tazawa, was closed in 1974 and has been open to the public since 2004 ✨ There was talk of demolition at one point due to deterioration, but the local people wanted to preserve it somehow, so they carried out restoration work with their own hands, and it has remained to this day! It is thanks to such people that we can have such a nostalgic experience! In the teacher's room at the back right of the first floor, you can see and touch the textbooks, photos, documents, scales, xylophone, organ, etc. of that time.🪗 There is also chalk in the classroom, so you can write freely on the blackboard! There was a book of mochimochi wood! I'm sure you all had it in your textbooks in elementary school.📕 When I picked it up, memories of that time suddenly came back to me.✨ On the left hand side of the first floor, there is a gymnasium, where you can actually play sports such as table tennis and volleyball! 🏓By the way, the restrooms are beautifully maintained while still feeling the warmth of the wood, so you don't have to worry about using the restroom! You will be walking around the school building in slippers, so if you don't like wearing them barefoot, please bring socks! It's quite difficult to get there by public transport💦 Although it is possible to get there, there are not many buses that circle Lake Tazawa, so I recommend going by car🚗 Of course, you can also go by bus and stroll around the shores of Lake Tazawa🚶 It's about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop🕒 In winter, the snow gets deep, so it's difficult to get there... If you're planning on going, I recommend going before the end of November! That's all! What do you think? Why not immerse yourself in the nostalgic atmosphere?
