🛏️ Accommodation experience sharing: West Building Deluxe Terrace Twin Room
This time we stayed in the Deluxe Twin with Terrace room in the West Building. The overall experience can be described as: peaceful, comfortable, and full of holiday feeling! 🌿
As soon as you enter the room, you will be attracted by the large windows and private terrace. Outside the window is a whole green forest, with a wide view and super fresh air. It is really healing to drink a cup of hot tea or coffee on the terrace in the morning ☕🍃. The room is larger than an average double room, so there is no pressure to spread out the luggage. There is also a small sofa + coffee table that can be used as a mini lounge area.
👍 Advantages summary:
- Bonus points for the terrace: you can sit out and relax, which is super therapeutic when the weather is good.
- The room is fully equipped with heating and air purifier, so it is not dry even in winter.
- Comfortable beds: The two single beds are large and comfortable to sleep on.
- Good sound insulation: Even if there are many people, they will not be disturbed.
⚠️ The shortcomings should also be clearly stated:
- Inconvenience in skiing and moving around: Although the hotel’s main attraction is Ski-in Ski-out, it is actually quite a distance from West Building A to the ski resort, and the hotel has a rule that you cannot walk around wearing snowshoes or dragging snow bags. For skiers, it is not very convenient to carry equipment back and forth.
- Baths are normal: Although you can use the public baths in the West Building for free, they are actually just hot spring pools and do not contain hot spring ingredients. Even in the non-snow season, there are still a lot of people and the experience is pretty average.
- Prices are high: Even in the spring snow season (February), the price is still more than HK$3,000 per night. Considering the facilities and convenience, the CP value is not high, so you need to consider whether your budget is sufficient.
💰 Room types and prices for reference (taking the 2025 winter/spring snow season as an example)
- West Building Standard Twin Room: The most basic room type with simple facilities and prices starting from approximately HKD 2,500.
- West Building Deluxe Terrace Twin Room: with terrace, large space, price is about HKD 3,200-3,800.
- East Building Superior Twin Room: next to the ski resort, ski-in/ski-out, price around HKD 3,500-4,500.
- Forest Cabin (2 people): Single-family cabin with forest view, price is about HKD 3,800-4,800.
- Hot Spring Cabin (with private bath): High privacy, great holiday feeling, price around HKD 5,000-6,000.
🏨 How to choose between the West Building, East Building, and Cabin Area?
If you are visiting Karuizawa for the first time or are a shopping enthusiast:
The West Pavilion would be a relatively convenient choice. It is closest to the station and only a few minutes' walk to Prince Outlet. It has strong living functions and is very convenient for shopping and finding restaurants. The room rates are generally moderate for hotels. Some rooms, like the deluxe terrace room we stayed in this time, also offer forest views, giving you a holiday feel.
If you are a "skiing enthusiast" or "skiing beginner":
The East Hall would be the ideal choice. It is close to the ski resort and has a connecting passage that allows you to ski in and out directly. It is very convenient to rent ski equipment, buy ski tickets and take classes. Moreover, the facilities are relatively new, making it more modern to live in. Whether you are bringing your children to learn skiing or you go to the ski resort every day, choosing the East Hall will save you a lot of trouble, but the facilities will be relatively old.
If you are a traveler who wants to relax, soak in hot springs, and enjoy a slow life:
The cabin area would be your dream option. This is a single-family house surrounded by forests, quiet and private. Some room types even have private hot spring pools. It is really relaxing to soak in the hot springs at night and look at the forest during the day. However, it is quite far from the main hall, so you have to walk a bit in the winter, and the price is a bit higher, so it is suitable for people who want to treat themselves.
🎒 Summary
This time I stayed in the West Building Deluxe Terrace Twin Room. The room itself was good, the terrace view was a plus, and the living functions were also convenient. But if you are a traveler who skis every day, it will be a bit tiring to move your equipment back and forth from the West Pavilion to the ski resort. In addition, the price is relatively high, so it is recommended to make a decision after weighing your budget and needs.
If you value the view, tranquility, and convenience for walking, then this room type will be a comfortable choice✨
