Navigation 🧭: Wat Nak Watchara Sophon
Specific Address: 32 Kamphaeng Phet-Sukhothai Road, Nai Mueang, Mueang Kamphaeng Phet District, Kamphaeng Phet 62000
Actually, it is a temple at a new location, unknown name, and there is another unfinished building!
Wat Nak Watchara Sophon is a royal-sponsored temple located in Kamphaeng Phet. It is situated in the northern part of the historical park.
From a modern perspective, Wat Nak Watchara Sophon was once a very ancient and beautiful temple.
The main buildings' history can be traced back to the 20th century. They are scattered under the shade of trees in a lush park.
The ruins are isolated by a moat and can be accessed via a floating bridge on the east side.
Apart from some preserved red clay pillars, the difference lies in its modern white Buddha statue, which contrasts sharply with the continuous pagodas.
In addition to its scale, its interesting feature is the sixteen elephant statues installed on its base. Although they are incomplete, their original grandeur and magnificence can still be seen!
Nevertheless, the elephants of Wat Chang are more majestic than those of Wat Chang Rob, but smaller than those of Wat Chang Lom (วัดช้างล้อม) in Si Satchanalai Historical Park.
The original name of this temple comes from this architectural creativity, as Wat Chang can be translated as Elephant Temple.

Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park
Travel is very convenient, but there are several zones to visit with a single ticket purchase. If you want to see everything, it might take almost half a day.
The interior has been greatly damaged, making one think of the time when it was still intact, probably as grand as the current royal temples.
When walking around, if there are naughty children, be careful as they might climb and run around, risking a fall on the hard rocks, and the ground is uneven, even wearing sandals can hurt.. For those who love history, this is a must-visit.

Charms of the Ancient City
Simply wonderful, and on a par with Sukhothai. Amazing historical park. It's just beautiful and there is a complete lack of crowds. Very spacious ancient site. Suggest to get a guided tour. Well preserved ruins of an age which is long gone, but definitely a World Heritage Site, which is worthy to keep in good conditions for the coming generations. The entire park is located within a shaded forest, making it comfortable to visit even on a hot day. Overall this was an excellent experience, one I would recommend for anyone.
Location: Khampheng Phet Historical Park
Note: The park is open from 8.30 a.m.-4.30 p.m. Admission is 150 baht a person
